Europa Universalis IV: Greatest game of all time

Europa Universalis IV: Greatest game of all time

What is 100% certain to be the greatest game ever made is currently under development and slated for release in late 2013.

Paradox has some developer diaries about the making of the game here with some good reads about what's going to be changed.

GET EXCITED!

Rise from the dead, my fellow EU fans.

Project Caesar practically confirmed to be EU5

Non exhaustive list of what I know so far:
Start in 1337 (right before Black Death and Ottomans became the Ottomans)
There will be a POP mechanic so no more infinite troops with no impact on economy

sick

on another note, euiv was free on epic about 2 years ago so i gave it a go

it was fun, definitely an improvement over crusader kings II & III but still lacked some key things

and for unknown reasons, i fired it up again, and it's amazing

over a decade after the game got released, it finally feels like they've perfected it

countries work in alliances that make a lot more historic sense ie with two neighboring superpowers, they will ally/guarantee the smaller nations out of their reach to prevent their rival from gobbling them up and growing - this has been far and away the biggest change - so those little countries aren't all gobbled up within the first 50 years or so and the map is just a series of mega empires as it usually goes

been playing as byzantium and there's all these new byzantium specific modifiers which really add a lot of flavor to the experience

kind of wild that after being out for over a decade, they are still putting out updates that give the game massive changes

EUV looks to be uncharacteristically (for a Paradox game) complete on launch?

Looks very promising. I'm planning to start with Denmark.

EUV is a **** show. AI is randomly too aggressive; there is way to much micro-management; and the global economy just randomly pretty much just crashes, effectively randomly.

The duality of man.

My expectations were so high I actually "saved" the game to play while lounging in a resort in Europe... it almost ruined my entire week.

I am going back to Vicky 3 until first DLC comes out. This is unplayable as it is unless you just want to play Bohemia or France and wafflestomp everyone… then have the game become unplayable due to performance issues by 1700.
