Do you 3bet KQs in the SB?

Do you 3bet KQs in the SB?

1/2. Rake/promo/tip is 6+3+1. Loose-passive table

V (176) is mostly limping and folding to raises, VPIP/RFI/3bet around 55/10/2.

Hero (covers) has a LAG image to V.

Limp. Limp. V opens 10 in the CO. Hero in the SB with KhQh. Hero?

Yes this is a good 3bet spot when he chooses the small iso size. Raise to $45 and fold to 4bet.

Fold. The reason you would 3bet this normally (and I do agree that you should almost always 3bet vs. a CO RFI) is because it's a wide range. This doesn't apply if V only opens 10% of hands. Against that range, KQs has 42.5% equity

And 3betting this doesn't make much sense, either. He's never calling you with anything you beat, and he's not folding enough to make it profitable as a bluff.

It's very nice of V to tell you that he has a strong hand by raising, let's make sure we make use of it.

Wouldn't we be better off with an occasional 3! with KQo as a bluff and flatting KQs here, considering the Villain stats?

Yeah, normally, I'd 3B. With two limpers, that $10 raise seems small. If we were >150BB deep, think I'd want to go $50-$60. More if the table is splashy.

Problem here is you're not that deep. Even $50 is close to pot-committint. Maybe we can go $45.

The thing I don't love about that sizing is that V can jam for value and as a bluff if he thinks we look weak. I don't like calling it off with KQs, so we're somewhat in a pickle.

Min-clicking it might make sense here. We mainly want to get the limpers to fold. If we make it $20-$30, that probably gets the job done. If he wants to 4B, he's got to choose between jamming and using a size that sets up an awkward SPR going to the flop.

If we make it $25, I'd think he'd just 4B-jam. And if we only have $25 in the pot, it's an easy fold. If the limpers fold and he flat calls, that's fine too.

I don't know about someone raising 10% of hands especially in co. Just 3bet to 30 or something since they went 5x.

I know, I know it’s raise or fold, but this is a time I would flat in the sb. This hand doesn’t mind if others jump in and it’s too weak to 3bet

I don’t think KQ is as strong as most people do, but there’s a number of flops that could hit you hard. I’m playing this like a beginner - fit or fold. For ten dollars, with the right circumstances, I could stack somebody.

Flatting is better than folding, as you are playing a quality hand against limp/callers maybe with junk and a small raised hand, which probably isn't that good either.

There's some logic to calling because of the other players with weaker ranges. But you also have worst position (very unsexy if we flop a draw), and you don't know that the others will call, and it's a high rake game, and what's worst, it's low SPR for the preflop raiser. Taking that all together, I doubt the flat makes money. I'd probably do it if I were playing though.

Hero bets 40. V shoves. Hero folds.

I gave V a big smile. He smiled back and said, "I've been waiting to catch you three-betting light all morning." We started talking about the hot springs on Lesbos, where the Lesbians soak naked, and the tide clears the pool twice each day.

Your game sounds miserable. Especially with that rake too.

I mean...KQs isn't exactly 3B'ing light. It's just near the bottom of our 3B range, making it a 3B fold if they 4B, especially at 1/2, where the 4B range is so insanely narrow that we can fold anything worse than AA/KK, and sometimes fold KK.

You didn't make a mistake. He did. He 4B from the CO, when he should have just flat called and stacked you post-flop. He let you off the hook. You should thank him.

I wouldn't give him a big smile. Keep your poker face. He probably considers KQs 3-betting light.

Very happy folding here. KQs plays really badly allin against AA/KK. The best you can hope for is close to a flip against JJ.

Bad read that the small raise was weak.

I would prefer to flat call here and play against a bunch of weak ranges and maybe weak ranges and a strong range. Would prefer the 3! more against a raise and callers. Here the limpers fold and get away cheap and you isolate versus a decent hand.

I think a thank you is more polite. Half a point awarded to you sir.

We rack up and move to 2/5 to outrun the rake and then make it 5x pre there.

I would just say "yeah, you caught me" or something like that. Want him to feel good about it.

V felt great after the hand, super happy to take down the pot all in. My smile was to confirm I’m having fun losing 40 dollars. I know I have recently played a few big hands transparently. I still think a smile helps the game.
