I disagree. It's generally true that Lefty organizations are easy to infiltrate and coopt. Look at the DSA - it's just a bunch of neoliberals now. However, if an authoritarian Leftwing party did rise it would be because it took extreme action and vigilance against being corrupted. An established Left system would have learned to keep it's leadership ranks closed.
That's why you see Mamdani the sellout representing the DSA and winning while no one is voting for the Greens, because the Greens aren't going to let just anyone come in and arrange themselves at the head of the table.
In capitalist democracies you just buy politicians or give their family sinecures, get them into Harvard, etc. I assume that's what you do. Either that or you take them in a private room and explain that if they don't vote in a certain pattern their loved ones will be taken and their bodies will never be found. Politicians behave like it's the latter, nut I don't think that happens.

Most people don't want them "gone" and probably a good portion of them that do, probably aren't crazy about the current ICE methods being used.
It depends on if we count the effect that increased immigration has had on political stability in this country and throughout the West, due to what I consider to be very silly moral/epistemic norms and bad politics.
It seems like I have never had a bad interaction with an immigrant, and plenty of bad interactions with people who weren’t that. Still, it seems that it has pushed the West to a point of political instability that has led us to our current political malaise. Isolating just the immigrants and their effects, I would say overwhelmingly positive, but if I consider the knock on effect it is probably neutral or net negative.

I don't think many people can honestly say undocumented immigrants have not contributed immensely to the country's well being since before we have been born, doing so much of the manual labor and menial work with many success stories of their children (if not themselves) elevating to the middle class.
I don't know what attempts have been made in the past legislatively to give these people an efficient pathway to at least legal residency if they have shown they have been working and not broken any laws but I blame Trump, Biden, Trump, Obama for not getting it done as it's apparent there is a need for people to fill the roles.
Trump gets the most blame currently as he's shaking the whole system up with no plan how businesses will transition.
