BTW I'm never going to let go of campfire calling Kamala a chickenhead. Just a chefs kiss of confirming every assumption made about the reasons people were inherently off-put by Harris.

(black and woman, for those who don't understand)

Well the verdict is in anyway. The American people prefer a misogynistic rapist over a woman.

Don’t internalize that, though. People will call you angry.

*woman, for crying out loud!

sory :(

I mean, let me be very plain here.Nobody here really cares about women’s sports. You’re not attending professional women’s sporting events, or watching them on tv for that matter either, or follow their professional stats. Nobody here cares about actual fairness in women’s sports- that they’re underpaid, underrepresented, underfunded. Or that they’re habitually subject to sexua

by geezerchess m

Well said.

For that matter, not many people in the SPORTS forums care much about women's sports.

I think you're right that not many people care about women's sports except for the girls/women competing in it. It's certainly gaining traction, and that's great for female athletes, but hard to say underpaid when viewership is so low. The leagues/owners are losing money right now.

The argument for being underpaid is based on expected growth to the sport/franchises. Paying them more is a fairly big gamble, but perhaps the numbers support it. Right now it's a losing endeavour. We'll see in the future. I am confident if the women leagues grow and are profitable, the pay will grow accordingly.

Point being its time tough to say no one cares about it or watches it, while also saying underpaid.

I somehow missed that post when it was made, but I just searched and found it. Totally nuts and proof positive that you can say almost anything here now.

I’ve actually not heard that term before.

All very well said.

I'm not sure how someone who freely chooses to work for a company that doesn't make money (e.g. the WNBA) can be considered underpaid.

I assume you looked it up and understand my reaction.

Me either.

Makes sense that the source of 'chickenhead' is hip-hop/rap, given that the genre is the most misogynist music around.

by rickroll m

i have said this much myself, he's the worst president we've ever had

why do you always assume i support, vote for, or even admire him?

Probably because you think he's better than Harris would have been?

Wow. That term is not kosher. Does he own his racism and wear it proudly?

He's just trying his hardest to spell woman without spelling man.

“Underpaid” doesn’t do justice to the discrepancy in pay.

The average salary for NBA is 10 million vs WNBA where the average salary is 100k. Women basketball players make 1% what their male counterparts make.

There’s no reasonable argument to be made for that level of pay gap vs actual talent. And blaming women athletes for it isn’t fair either when there has been a documented historical underinvestment in women’s sports, as well as chronic lack of media coverage and visibility.

Nobody here cares about women’s sports. And it’s deeply insulting to use that pretense to attack trans athletes.

That term is certainly misogynistic, but how is it racist? It originated from rap/hip-hop.

Sure, how do you think I feel?

OG hard rock/ metal was pretty bad too.

Nobody hears a single word you say.
Livin', lovin', she's just a woman.
But you keep on talkin' till your dyin' day.
Livin', lovin', she's just a woman.

Zeppelin were embarrassed enough by this to never perform it live.

by jalfrezi m

that's a mischaracterization - i thought the version of trump which was allowed to do policy making would be better, i stand by trump 1.0 being better than kamala - but even so, trump 1.0 is still easily one of the worst presidents we've ever had

the 2.0 version should be dragged outside and shot

I couldn't agree more.

this is perfect liberalism. it wasnt that Kamala was an awful candidate and pledged to continue slaughtering children in Palestine while positioning herself to the right of Trump on Iran and Yemen. nor that she campaigned with ****ing Liz Cheney. nor that she promised to massively increase spending on ICE agents and concentration camps. no it was just bc she was a black women and everyone is a racist misogynist.

It’s like you’re not able to fully analyze the entirety of what I wrote. This was addressed.

by rickroll m

Quite so.

If the NBA wasn't subsidizing the WNBA, those athletes would likely be making far less than the $100K.

It's truly bizarre the way the word "woman" has rapidly ascended the leaderboard of most misspelled words.

i'm not sure what you're arguing here. the NBA makes money. some of those profits go to players. the WNBA loses money. Owners pay money out of their own pocket to players.

the pay gap is based on profitability. the pay gap is 100 to 1 based on the averages you posted. the talent gap is greater than 100 to 1. that's not a good argument.

women are able to play in the NBA if they are good enough. none of them are even close.

the lack of media coverage/visibility is due to a lack of demand. but demand is growing and that's a good thing, and coverage is also growing. the WNCAAB was electric the other year with caitlin clark. unfortunately lots of the players in the league seem to hate her, even though she's grown attention more to the league than probably anyone.

This sort of shallow analysis and reasoning is why we have the America we do today. It’s become the standard and I don’t know how to fix it.

Anyway, you’re wrong and I don’t feel like writing an in-depth essay explaining why. It’s just disheartening that it passes so easily now as β€œlogic”.

My understanding is that wnba finances are pretty opaque and we don't know if they're losing money or not.
