If you lived in Minneapolis, and an ICE agent demand ID.....
......would you comply. (You have broken no law. You're just walking into the grocery store.)
Why or Why not?
Enlightening. And if the government owns all the equity in all companies, what would that be?That was the whole point of my joke. We went from having zero equity in private companies, and conservatives that talked about the separation of state and private industry since I can remember, to buying up chunks of stock in 11 major companies.I was making a point, that has now flown ov
I don't know who's sarcastic and who's not so I just assume people are being serious for simplicity.
But yes, It would be communism. And it also isn't possible. Literally not possible in any imaginable tin foil hat overtake, recession, alien invasion of any kind.
This isn't the govt taking over GM in 2008. The govt doesn't have the money, couldn't get the money, and if all companies on earth suddenly became worthless to the point that the govt could a majority stake, the govt wouldn't have any money themselves then and wouldn't be able to do anything with it. And even if they did, they still couldn't do it . And if they could, they wouldn't want to because the all the companies were clearly dogshit so just create an SOE instead that wouldn't be terrible.
so some disgusting sack of **** assaulted ilhan omar at a townhall, sprayed her with some mystery substance. very kool happenings in the greatest country in the world...
Actually... just found out there's a pic of me in the LA times today from this protest.
I'm in the 3rd pic w/ the shirt - The People vs.
😀
That's in the middle of it. Would definitely be expecting quite a hostile crowd there
So in the past 48 hours I’ve had:-My dad, an immigrant naturalized in 87 who has always either voted R or not at all, call me to tell me that he as fedexing me my original birth certificate and that I should carry it on me at all times, and that he has begun wearing his passport in one of those travel bags whenever he goes out. -My in-laws, both immigrants naturalized in 95, ma
sucks, couldn't imagine that feeling
i hope what is being reported (that they are mostly targeting via license plates linked to known illegals) is accurate and it hasn't gone to the point of stop and frisk anyone who looks like they could be

Anyone who voted for Trump brought this to your door. This is what they wanted; anyone not-white to be terrorized. And they’re getting it.
If they didn’t want this, they’d not have voted Trump. It’s very simple, even though they’ll try to rationalize their vote with some utter bullshit. They ultimately know they’ve brought about the demise of America with their piss-poor choice, and now they’re scrambling like hell to claim, “It’s not my fault because bullshit reasons!” Yes. It. Is. ****. You. All.

Some surveys have reported that the majority of Latino male voters cast their ballot for Trump. Kinda odd they wanted all non-whites to be terrorized. I guess a majority of Latino men are really, really evil or really, really dumb.

Assuming the surveys are not fake. (Remember, Trump gave America the “If I don’t like it, it’s fake” ethos. He even admitted as much to LeslieStahl years ago.)
ThankYou for providing yet another data point in support of my hypothesis that, “Anyone who voted for Trump is either an idiot or an *******. There are no other options.”
I suspect the folks this survey refers to would fall into the “idiot” category, like you yourself claim to be, but further study is needed to confirm either contention for the “*******” option is very strong with Trump supporters.

Defending ICE by pointing to voting behavior by non-white people as reported in exit polls is problematic for about ten different reasons.

Except I wasn't defending ICE. Nor have I in this forum at any time that I can recall.
I was specifically addressing BigEasy's broadbrushing every Trump voter as, to quote him directly, being in favor of "anyone not-white to be terrorized."

Yea, well the thing is no one knows WTF is going on, or what not to do, or what to actually be afraid of. There’s no real information on targeting beyond the pieces and bits random info and whispers about “facial recognition” and what not. The gov went to the Supreme Court and said “We can stop you for looking like a Hispanic in LA” and the court agreed, so what are people supposed to think.
My dad and in-laws are obviously not white. They have good English but speak with heavy accents. They are not very wealthy, don’t wear nice clothes, live in decent but not rich areas. When they drive down the street and see 7 guys pulling a random dude into an unmarked car, this terrifies them.
The fact that they even have to think about this after being here for like 40 years and never once being afraid to walk down the street. Just sad.

Trump campaigned on “retribution”. If you were too stupid to know what that would look like, well that’s on you. A vote for Trump was a vote for all of this.

My dad voted for every single R candidate from Bush 1 to Trump 1 and then stopped voting entirely.
This isn’t the whole story but there is a mentality among some immigrant peoples that “we did this the right way, **** y’all who don’t” kind of. He’s directly said as much to me in the past - I worked my ass off to come here and give you a good life. It’s not fair that these people can just walk across and get the same thing.
Also, living in TX now, Latinos are honestly pretty chauvinistic and like the “I can say how I feel” stuff.

Fair enough. I guess that I should have been pushing back on the notion that a lot of voters were too stupid to realize what they were going to get with a second term of Trump. Not every Trump voter wanted every policy. That isn't how politics work. On the other hand, I don't believe that large numbers of voters stepped in a snare trap either. They preferred Total Package #1 (Trump) to Total Package #2, and it was pretty obvious what Total Package #1 was going to look like.
The most signfiicant reveal of the last fifteen years has been how receptive a large chunk of American voters are to domestic authoritarianism and how little they care about democratic norms.
I'll reiterate that anyone that didn't specifically vote for Harris is responsible for this directly, whether they understand it or not.

If it weren't for the Electoral College, you might have a point.
If literally a half-million folks who voted for Harris here in California had stayed home on election day instead, she still would have received exactly the same number of electoral votes here (i.e. all of 'em).

No. By saying this you are diminishing the responsibility of the elected officials treasonous conduct. Trying to blame individual voters for this administrations intentional and illegal conduct is unreasonable.
The only thing more unreasonable is blaming people’s words as a cause for someone to commit physical violence.
Anyone who was dumb enough to vote Trump, especially those explicitly voting against their own interests is a moron. Lack of education and directed propaganda messed a lot of people up but it’s no excuse.
I agree, if you abstained from voting Harris you’re just as bad as a Trump voter and deserve all the blame for what is happening in the US today.

right. Biden could have tried to #AbolishICE. so could have Obama. Kamala could have campaigned on #AbolishICE. instead, at every opportunity they funded, enhanced, and empowered ICE.

No, their responsibility for this is not diminished a bit just because someone else also is responsible.
No one with a brain wants ICE to be abolished. Idiots on all sides this country is ****ed.
