MuckPls & Whale - a March Madness TR part III
Flights and hotel booked so I might as we’ll kick this off 2 months early.
I’ll be landing in Vegas on the 19th of March and staying until the 4th of April. As usual I have the trip broken up into 3 parts to maximise comps and this time I have really maximised it:
March 19-23: Nomad (or now The Reserve) Grande Suite with $450 free play and $450 resort credit for $0.00 total including resort fees
March 23-27: Palazzo Luxury king city view suite with $150 free bet chips and $150 resort credit for $0.00 total including resort fees.
March 27-April 4: The Reserve Atelier suite with $450 free play and $450 resort credit for a total of $158
So the total for 16 nights/17 days will be $158, hard to beat that!!
I’ll be flying Valencia - Amsterdam - Las Vegas and the same route back.
Plans: work work work. Also a bunch of 1/3, mostly at Aria and Venetian. I want to take the opportunity to try a bunch of new restaurants, this time for real. The list:
Gymkhana at Aria. I love Indian food so if I can get a reservation I’ll 100% go.
Carbone Riviera. I love seafood so same as the above, will definitely try if I get a chance.
I also have the below booking that I’m looking forward to like crazy:

That’s the lobster buffet at Palms. I will eat my entire body weight in lobster.
Other stuff:
It’s been a brutal year for me both on and off the felt. Swings have been massive and the (nonexistent) roll took a hit when we packed up everything last August and made the move from Malta to Valencia in Spain with two kids, two dogs and a cat. I’ve mostly been away from the gambling scene since then, I just don’t have the time or the money for it.
This will also show in my upcoming TR, for those of you who love my degen side you will sadly (hopefully) be disappointed. I want to grind the living **** out of 1/3, convert the free play to maximum value and just stay away from anything degen and focus on poker / cash game where I have a huge edge.
As a reminder this is my Vegas score since 2022, 99% of it being at 1/3:

This means I can easily beat 1/3 games over a very large sample size and there is no reason to mess around with stupid -EV games. Yes I’m looking at you UX and blackjack!!
Also if I can run good and secure a profit I will be back some time in the middle of June for the WSOP.
Anyway; that’s it for now. I know it’s early with two months to go but at least it gives a bit of incentive for BigWhale to finally book those damn tickets.

Vegas in March sounds like a good idea 😀 I will with 99.9% certainty join for parts of the trip, probably something like 22nd March - 3rd April or thereabouts. But exact dates and hotels still to be determined.
Always in for a Muck and Whale TR!
Run hotter than the sun!!
Also, can confirm ChatGPT is eerily accurate.

I'm in for shenanigans.
Me too!
I'm curious about moving with animals. Had some friends who worked in Oz for several years. When they got there, the pets had to be quarantined for some time.
Anything like that, or is EU kinda pass-through for pets like people?
Safe travels, looking forward to the always-excellent TR!

It’s relatively easy within EU, no quarantine. You only need updated vaccines, pet passport, rabies vaccination and microchip and you are good to go, but honestly nobody even checked.
One of our dogs are old and not in the best condition so flying was out of the question - he wouldn’t have survived especially with a layover in Frankfurt. So we we took the ”slightly” longer road.
Malta - Pozzallo in Sicily by ferry. 3 hours total, this was the worst part. Our friend drove us and the poor dogs had to stay in a crate down below where the cars were for 2 hours. They were pretty scared when we picked them up.
Pozzallo - Palermo by car, this was fairly easy with a 5 hour drive and a couple of stops.
Palermo - Genova. We said good bye to my friend who drove back to Malta and we took the 24 hour long ferry to Genova. 4 bed pet cabin so everyone was in the same super tiny space for 24 hours.
We had an Airbnb booked in Genova for the night.
Then Genova - Barcelona another 24 hour ferry, another 4 bed pet cabin.
Then one final night in Barcelona in Airbnb and transfer to Valencia by car.
The dogs and the cat mostly loved it, except for having to go out on the deck during high winds and loud noises to relieve themselves (there was a dedicated pet deck where dogs were able to pee and poop and it would be cleaned regularly).
We on the other hand were super exhausted by the time we arrived in Valencia and slept for 2 days straight in the Airbnb.

I’m in, and might even see you guys in person as your dates coincide with the WSOP circuit stop at Horseshoe.

Nice! I’m actually considering taking a few shots at tourneys this trip, so might play the circuit if I can find affordable events (and my sleep schedule allows it and I’m not too dead). Even if I’m not playing let me know I’m always up for some food or drinks somewhere.
LFG for like the 100th time!

I am in! Can't wait to follow along. Maybe we'll even make it to Vegas during that time 😉

Wow, March Madness all the way to the Final Four. Did you plan it that way?
Good thing you're such a degen because those rooms would cost a fortune.

What about craps??!

I hope to have enough money (and health) to make it out to the WSOP as well. I was very annoyed I got too sick last year to make the Monster Stack.
I’ll be in Vegas 18-21 of March. Hoping we can sync up to play some together.

Yes I did plan it like that but not entirely because of the games. I couldn’t go earlier because of work and on the 17th of March it’s my wife’s birthday so couldn’t go before that. The 19th is because I like flying out on Thursdays and fly home on Saturday. It gives me enough time Thursday to be in shape for a full weekend grind and leaving Saturday means almost 3 full weekends which is the most important in terms of action.

Well, that's very scientific. I just go when the rooms are cheapest, lol.

Even with my comps and whatnot, when I checked rates, I got $700, and that was only through the 30th. And missing the first games. Ouch. I can always go ahead and reserve it now, and with 10 weeks to trade stocks, if my trusty old method pays off I can make a hundred/week average. If it doesn't work out I can just cancel.
Right now the team I root for (Arizona) is number 1, but a lot can happen in 10 weeks. If they start losing I can just watch at home. The last time I went to Vegas for March Madness and my team was playing well, they went to the Final Four. Maybe I owe it to them to go. 😀
6 weeks to go and the WSOPC schedule is out:
Probably playing an event or two but it mainly depends on jet lag and cash game profits.
Also epic bump for Whale to finally book?

Nice, hadn't seen this yet. It's got enough mixed tournaments on the schedule to make it a trip for me, so might see you guys there.
GL!
Caesars is doing a 5x tier credit multiplier at the end of March. Lots of stuff going on during your trip.
16 nights! plans for no degen!! thoughts and prayers Mucky Boy!!!
what an incredible comp schedule you've got. so great to get such a good value stay at top quality properties. guessing the offers won't be so generous next time, if you stick to 1/3 but so what...that's a brilliant value trip!
