They really should change them imo... like make $5-5 $1000 max, and $5-10 $3000 maybe or uncapped
Because $5-10 has been the biggest game in the room pretty often in recent times

Why do you think they should do this?

Well the games are progressively getting smaller with inflation aern't they if they stay the same... and $1000 cap is a lot more common at $2-5 and $5-5 nowadays?

U think most players would prefer it kept as is?

Commerce caters to recreational players, not Grinders. That gets them more tables running. Grinders can go to the Bicycle or Hustler casinos, which get less tables running with deeper buy-ins.

I think they get plenty of players the way things are, and if they raised the limits more players would go broke and no longer play. The casino tries to make themself more profitable, not make it more profitable for good players.

I will do a mini trip report since I stayed there four nights when I was in town for something else. I stayed at commerce (usually stay at bike because it is a nicer hotel but the rates were high there because of a tournament going on). First the hotel…I stayed four nights for 737 including taxes and fees which for LA is a great deal. They redid the rooms and all have wood floors, clean, nice. Not luxury by any means but totally fine in my book. In and out valet service included and the valet is fast and good. They give you a free breakfast buffet every morning with the resort fee. It is a buffet, again not luxury by any means but for me totally fine..eggs, bacon, pancakes, cereal, coffee etc. Very convenient. Every hotel employee was friendly and helpful. As for the poker I played mostly 8-16 kill this trip and every game had a ton of action as expected. Basically broke even. Dealers don’t talk at all which is great, they just deal the cards. I wish that was the case where I live. Players, some cranky and abusive others fun. They do tolerate too much there but it wasn’t out of control. I also played 8-16 big O. The players there were friendlier but not as much action as I’d expect in that (though I mostly played during the day). I didn’t play in the high limit “room” but it looked kind of lame (just walled off..was better on the hotel side but all that is table games now). I walked around the casino at night sometimes just to survey the scene and the amount of baccarat in that place is unreal and the number of people playing and milling around is crazy. No wonder they focus on that rather than poker.

I also played at Bicycle, which changed a ton (focus on baccarat and poker relegated kind of to a back corner though they are clearly remodeling it). Some of the baccarat rooms are aesthetically beautiful to wander through though. I played 20-40 half kill there and it was great action and I won some in it. People are much friendlier there and it is a more cozy atmosphere where everyone seems to know everyone. I think I’d play a lot there if I lived there. Hugh pots and I like the kill, easy to generally know where people are in the hand. Bike also has better food options, I like the brewery. The sushi looked great but I didn’t try it. Overall had a lot of fun there.

I did one session at Hollywood Park because I was eating dinner in Hollywood and wanted to see it since it’s been remodeled (Republique - gotta say one of the best dinners I have ever had, great great place). I am probably a moron but it took me forever to find the entrance to Hollywood Park, just kept driving around Sofi. Then it wasn’t clear where to park. I ended up paying ten bucks for preferred parking right out front (which I think is worth it..the garage seems like a bit of a walk if you have money on you). High security getting in where they take your license and players card (which I didn’t have but they let me in anyway) and you go through a metal detector. Beautiful inside though definitely like the look and feel of it and the bar where I had a bomb blackened chicken sandwich (very good) and good draft selection. I played 4-8 big o (nice people but no action which was surprising) and 8-16 which was not nearly as good as commerce and the people were kind of annoying. Finally I got to play what I wanted which was 20-40 OE with a kill. That game was awesome and the people playing were really nice and fun (plus I liked the high limit room there). Good service, good action, big pots. I lost money there but what can you do. Would definitely play that again. Only other thing I did was go to an Angels game with a friend who wanted to check it off his stadium list. Actually really fun there and really hot crowd for baseball (sold out Saturday game and they had fireworks and very cool concessions). Plus no traffic going out that way which was great.

Cliff notes..i wish I lived in LA and was sad to leave it....
