Great pick up by OKC getting Jared McCain

The trade deadline is great.

It probably does nothing for this season but good trade for the future since he's cheap and they're not gonna be able to keep Dort. I don't really see him playing over Dort/Mitchell/Wallace/Joe/Wiggins/Caruso though so I doubt he gets any real minutes. Then again their coach likes to play everyone and he gave a beyond washed up Gordon Hayward way too many minutes when they traded for him a couple years ago.

Let's' go Coby White!

Can we ban trading 2nd round picks?

Man, almost ten hours since Harden trade and crickets here. RIP 2+2.

I wonder if the Cavs are concerned that Garland's toe problems in both feet may be chronic. Even at his advanced age, Harden looks like a better bet to stay healthy in the immediate term than Garland does.

Good trade by Cavs imo as they’re definitely in win now mode

Raptors aquire Chris Paul who will not play for the Raptors.

Paul will not report to Toronto. The Raptors are expected to try and use Paul's $3.3 million salary in any other deals, but if he is not traded, he will be waived and become a free agent.

Most importantly, the deal gets the Raptors out of the luxury tax.

It's turf toe on both. One already surgically repaired and the other sprained. Seems ominous.

Right. That's exactly what I was thinking.

Not unless the Giannis trade happens. FWIW, I think Draymond has declined fairly significantly on the offensive end. He is declining on the defensive end as well, but probably less rapidly because of effort and guile.

If the Giannis trade happens, I could see a universe in which Draymond declines his player option and resigns with the Warriors in the off season.

He’d obv get paid under the table if he did that.

And honestly who cares. Most teams do it.

Porzingis to Woyaz. thoughts?

Meh. High upside I guess, even if it's 10% chance.

Porzingis with Steph, what's not to like.

This is pretty much the only possible take. The Warriors didn't give up anything that was helping them, and they moved on from Hield's contract, but since Staps was drafted by the Knicks, there have been four different teams that have dreamed on what it would be like if he miraculously stayed healthy. And he never does.

The Mavericks officially began the process to build around their teenage sensation by finalizing a trade to send Anthony Davis to the Washington Wizards for Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III and five combined draft picks.

2 1st round picks and 3 2nd round picks. 3 of those players on expiring contracts.

Fun Fact:

Street Clothes played a total of 29 games for the Mavericks.

Luka has played 29 games THIS YEAR for the Lakers scoring 30+ points.

Mavs should just buyout Kyrie at this point, right?

Woyas obv should move on from Draymond but I understand why they won’t.

Warriors fans are livid about the Staps deal. I understand to a considerable degree, but I also think the options at this juncture were quite limited. It's clear that there wasn't much of a market for Kuminga, and with Kerr at the helm, I don't think a more serious market was going to develop if they held Kuminga until the offseason.

As for Giannis, it is what it is. The Warriors obviously told the Bucks that they could have whatever they wanted in terms of players and picks (other than Curry, of course), and it wasn't enough to induce Giannis to lean on the Bucks to do the deal. I wouldn't want to go to Warriors if I were Giannis. Yes, it would be fun to ring chase with Curry for a few years, but after those few years, you are stuck on a team that doesn't have Curry and also doesn't have draft picks that it can trade to build around you. To Giannis, that probably looks like the 2.0 version of his last few years with the Bucks. Better to ring chase with a team that has a longer projected future of meaningful playoff basketball than the Warriors.

RIPIP the ZuBacca era in LA. Pretty amazing development story. Total heist to get him from the Lakers for nothing. Almost Marc Gasol level fleecing in hindsight.

At this point I sorta hope that pick does go to OKC in the top 3 just for the lols. Or if there is super obvious riggage to prevent that.

Looks like the pick they got back has some weird protections that basically make it either 5-9 this year or totally unprotected in 2031. Very creative.
