So in other words, you are completely pulling the number out of your ass

There have been 12-15 million illegals in the country for 25 years or more now

So when people say 20 million illegals, they obviously mean 20 million new illegals

But the actual numbers dont even show 20 million total illegals in the US

So its just absolute nonsense

Please tell me how you can count illegals in the USA ? Its always going to be an estimate

Are we officially in a recession?

So what are you basing your estimate on, exactly?

Yes folks that estimate is they key word and funded by left wing interests

CIS is a republican anti immigration think tank, I literally just said that

The rule also would change how whistleblower protections, meant to protect whistleblowers from retaliation, are enforced. Instead of the independent office of special counsel handling most whistleblower disclosures from federal workers, federal agencies would be in charge of determining job protections for whistleblowers in their own department.

If the actual number is 11.5M or 20M, what difference does it make?

just because their bias does not mean their data is meaningless I quoted them a while back. While you may be able to find numbers to support most arguments they still don't lie . numbers are numbers. big easy banned im shocked. I expect my swatting within the week

What are the implications of the same amount of illegals living here in 2026 as 2005 vs double that amount relative to claims made by Republicans?

Maybe you could just think about it a little bit

the number has to be quite high and around there. you probably have people who lived there illegally for 60 years still counting towards that number. both numbers sound way too high. i think what the us needs to do is give all the current illegals a get out of jail free card and make them all us citizens if everyone agrees no more can come in and the ones who do cross are treated with the full authority of the law because realistically there's too many to do anything about currently. to stop it you need to cut the pipeline. all the new us citizens would quickly become anti illegal immigration to protect their new home.

This way you discourage the new ones because you have more resources to focus on them instead of pretending to have ice do something for political showboating when there only able to send back like 1% of 1% of illegal immigrants

Sounds way too high based on what?

Politics shouldn't be based on your foreigner assumptions. Do some research, look at the numbers. Apply some critical thinking beyond your vibes

Are you saying you believe that the number of illegals living in the US is the same in 2026 as it was in 2005? That would be something else considering the total US population grew by ~60M over that time, and we had some good economics conditions and a period of near open borders during that stretch.

It wouldn't shock me a bit of the 20M number was pulled out of someone's butt, but there are far better examples of Republicans making things up.

At what points since 2005 would you say we were "near open borders"

Heard an interesting take on the EU-India trade deal. Basically we should expect it to amount to a whole bunch of nothing. European countries and India are EXTREMELY protectionist at various levels. And in both places to import and bring to market anything there are lots of barriers at numerous levels. Based on decades of history and precident, there is no reason to expect anything to come of this, as it will be held up by special interests, local politics, etc. on both sides. Maybe European suppliers will sell a little more high end alcohol in India, but other than that they shouldn't expect much.

On the other hand, India will expect EU to honor the agreement to open up their bloc to Indian labor, family chain migration, and remittances.

The "deal" is pretty much just an own goal just to spite Trump/US.

People are rational. They wouldn't be going to all the trouble (and it is A LOT of trouble) to sneak into the US and live here illegally if US authorities were catching most of the people and sending them back. So the implication that even when people being sent back were at relatively very high levels, A LOT of people were still falling through the cracks and remaining. If anything, that graph is an indication of just how many people are falling through the cracks and staying.

Makes too much sense to implement. Aside from the humanitarian issue, thing with this whole deal is we're going to need all of them or the equivalent back over the next decade or so to support the boomers aging out of the workforce.

crypto down below pre-orangeman levels and crashing hard? damn, you hate to see it. lol crypto bros

So 3,000I ICE a gents caught 4,000 immigrants in 30 days. That’s 1.25 arrests per agent on average. At a cost of what I have seen as high as 10 million per week, with two incoming wrongful death lawsuits and at least one workers comp claim, I don’t think DOGE would need to look very far to find waste, fraud and abuse here.

Good place to enter if you’re interested in buying crypto. People thought it was done before and didn’t happen.

that's why cryptos so profitable need losers from big swings to make money

I'm not mad you posted the article. I was just responding. I thought you were revisiting the question of whether it was allowed, at least in the UK.

Pretty sure it's very similar in both countries. Something like it is allowed but judges say it isn't and you're not allowed to say it is allowed anywhere near a trial.

Maybe the full details will emerge from the case i mentioned. I'm guessing the defense lawyer was very careful in his choice of words and the judge let it go.

Explicit plea bargaining for sentence doesn't happen in the UK like it does in the US, but you automatically get 1/3rd off any sentence for an early guilty plea (and often a smaller discount for a late guilty plea) and also in complex and/or serious cases with multiple charges or counts the CPS may agree to drop some in exchange for a guilty plea to others, which has the same effect as plea bargaining for sentence.

ETA: Apologies, I just realised the post to which I responded was about jury nullification, not plea bargaining - I had seen some other posts about plea bargaining and had assumed it was in relation to that.

It is even worse than that. Federal funded special interest groups and activist judges are having everyone released on "Habeas Corpus" grounds as fast as they are put into the system. Which we are all paying for. And on the off chance someone gets arrested and deported, they will probably be on the first bus back anyways.

Even if one was inclined to believe that arresting and deporting illegal immigrants was a benefit, we aren't even getting that. Almost everyone is just being released.
