Thank you. I've been watching the SB since 85 and I don't think I've seen that before.

Dom is 100% right about this one though. Have fun with a first place schedule, the NFC North, and a division that cannot honestly be any easier than it was this year.

Maye was facing one of the four greatest defenses of the last forty years with a LG/LT combo that wouldn’t have started for at least 20 college teams this past season.

Maye was great regular season vs a very easy schedule and pretty bad supporting cast (for a SB level team atleast)

Maye was bad in the AFC side of the playoffs against very good defenses although he also didn't really have to push much in any of these games because the offensive limitations of the other teams. Perhaps he could've done more in all of these games if he had to.

Maye was awful in the SB against a top tier D playing with marginal talent on his side.

And if anyone wants a hot take on top, I'd take Maye over every QB in the NFL over the next 5 years besides Allen/Mahomes. Lamar is close 1, just up in the air on him right now. Burrow/Herbert/Love/Goff/Purdy, meh gimme Maye.

As long as we’re here talking about bad QBs and GOAT defenses, Ozzie & Billick don’t get nearly enough credit for dynasty destruction. Signing Grbac was like introducing cocaine to the 1986 Rockets.

Replace those two with Tomlin how many more Supes do they reach, 4-5, especially in that weak era.

Bryce Young played better against the Rams than he did, by a mile. So did Darnold.

And the Bears have way better OL/weapons than NE.

Think that is clearly Maye but time will tell. People don't give him enough credit for how bad his supporting cast was.

I guess I'm not seeing the relevance of who played better against the Rams. Caleb does have better weapons though, agreed.

And I think barely losing MVP shows people gave Maye plenty of credit.

Just was first thing that came to mind since it was his most recent game. That Rams secondary was terrible in playoffs besides that game.

Obviously you zoom out whole season Maye's numbers are clearly better than his, even adjusting for opponent.

I wouldn't take him over Maye next 5 years but it is possible. Loveland is a baller and we've seen what elite TEs can do for guys.

NE better get someone better than Diggs as their #1 WR if they wanna compete in the loaded AFC.

Caleb was better than last year, but he's still wildly inaccurate and refuses to stay in the pocket.

I'm not sure why everyone is getting so fooled. He makes one Anthony Richardson esque throw a game and people lose their minds. Caleb is still not a good QB at this time, and the stats back it up. Having a completion percentage around 50 is not a recipe for success.

Drake Maye has been better by a mile.

Caleb's career completion pct is 60.3 (not ideal, but not even close to 50). And as a casual fan I see 47 tds, 13 ints and think this guy has to at least be considered "good."

And even if Maye has been better, I was replying to who one would take over the next 5 years.

I'm not too big of a hot take QB guy in general but Caleb really had to have the year he had this year at a minimum given every upgrade Chicago had given him.

Massive upgrades in playcalling/coaching OL and WR/TE with a last place schedule and a division where the top 2 teams basically died with injuries. Couldn't really get a better runout than that and if he didn't have the success he had with it, that would've been alarming.

Bears seem like a clear regression candidate next year, which isn't much of a hot take. It is actually interesting how many teams that won their division this year won't be favored to do so next year. Pats/Broncos/Steelers/Bears/Panthers with Jags, Seahawks barely being favored at best.

Grbac had that great year with KC before he signed with the Ravens because Tony Gonzalez, Derrick Alexander, and all the other receivers were wide-ass open all year. I've never seen anything like it. Mahomes would have thrown for 7,000 yards.

I would take Maye over Caleb the next 5 years. I trust his accuracy and temperament far more

I remember every Niners fan lulzing at that signing. He was the last of that weird breed of QB that everyone hated but the GM & HC. Not consulting with Two Knives & Ed Reed before making that big of a roster move wasn’t very smart.

Also bears coming back every game while winning the turnover battle nonstop isn’t sustainable in the slightest.

The story of this SB (and NFL games in general with good defenses) was how the QBs handled pressure.

Darnold did, Maye did not.

And 60 is an average base line for PFF. If Darnold completes that relatively easy broken coverage to JSN for a clear TD he probably gets a 65+.

He also telegraphed his throws.

It doesn't really matter what other excuses you want to make. It's embarrassing the NFL tried to compare him to Stafford or make the MVP vote that close.

Maye is a good young QB, with A LOT to learn still.
