Movie Quizz with DVD Giveaways

Movie Quizz with DVD giveaways.
Enter to win a stack of DVDs or just for the fun of it.
I'm currently moving my movie watching data to Letterboxd.
When I'm finished, who will be my most watched actors & actresses.
Name 5 each. Whomever has the highest total wins.
To help out I'm posting what my current top 20 are after about 10% of my films added.
Warning: I'm updating by director so some of these 20 are only here because their favourite director has been included. Try and find those who worked for a variety of directors and go from there.
Warning: I think Letterboxd only includes people with on screen credits. I don't think Bess Flowers will make the top 10.
Let's give everyone 2 weeks to enter (February 17th).
I'll enter too (but am disqualified from winning).
Enter right in-line with a post. Nobody can copy your entry and you can change your entry any time until/on the 17th.
So, you can post a non-serious 10 and hope others follow you before you change your list.

Elisha Cook Jr (top 10 actor?)
Not much interest here. Probably, everybody streams their movies now. What's a DVD?
So, I'll put in an entry. I should do well since I'm the one who watched all these. These are kinda the first 10 that come to mind. Remember: I'm disqualified from winning.
However, the 1st movie I remember seeing was Ben-Hur in the theatre. That's 1959 so 67 years ago. My memory may be a little dull.
Actors:
Elisha Cook Jr
Douglas Fowley (Kim Fowley's dad!)
Wallace Ford
John Carradine
Henry Fonda
Actresses:
Katharine Hepburn
Ann Sothern
Barbara Stanwyck
Glenda Farrell
Ann Doran
And to make the scoring easier, winner is whomever has the most in the actual top 20.
Tie breaker - top 25 etc etc.

Byron Foulger - top 10 candidate?
On 2nd thought, I think the 5 actors will all be character actors. Bissell & Foulger: one of them must have been in every movie made in the 40s and 50s. Some performances might have been "uncredited" though.
Actors:
Elisha Cook Jr
Douglas Fowley (Kim Fowley's dad!)
Wallace Ford
Whit Bissell
Byron Foulger
Actresses:
Katharine Hepburn
Ann Sothern
Barbara Stanwyck
Glenda Farrell
Ann Doran
I'm going to enter, but I do not want any DVDs thanks (the postage would cost more than their combined market value I'm sure).
My entry is my top 5 actors and actresses. Let's see how similar we are:
Actors
Samuel L Jackson
Robert DeNiro
Bruce Willis
Morgan Freeman
Buster Keaton
Actresses
Scarlett Johansson
Helena Bonham Carter
Sigourney Weaver
Elizabeth Banks
Lois Maxwell
Looking back at that list I don't think I'm going to do pretty well. Should probably have done a filter to make the movies 1960s or earlier to stand a chance.
xander biscuits,
Don't worry about the postage cost - if there are any DVDs you might want, I'd be happy to ship them.
I was worrying about what movies I should watch while I'm still updating Letterboxd. DVDs are the answer. I'll go through that big pile of DVDs and make sure I've watched them all.
I know I still have my copy of "The Great Escape" on DVD. I've seen 16 John Sturges movies but not The Great Escape - it continues to just sit there.
I guess the actors/actresses from pre 60s might be at the top of the list due to the studio system. I'm sure Byron Foulger was getting phone calls every week asking him to come down and film his 3 or 4 lines. Now, a casting director might phone your agent once every blue moon.
I watched every movie that came to town starting in 1970 (when I moved to the big city). That was until I paid good money to see "Carry On Up The Jungle". Had too get a bit more discriminating.
I saw almost all the 70s movies in the theatre and then in the 80s and 90s I also had a "movie channel" on cable TV. Still the pre-60s actors have more credits than 1970-1999 when I watched a ton of movies.
In addition to the postage costs I also do not own a DVD player. I too have a box of DVDs in the attic just sitting there.
The prize would be wasted on me.

The first DVD I decided to play was Nagisa Oshima's "Street Of Love And Hope" (1959).
Unfortunately my DVD player appears to have stopped working after years of just sitting there.
A question if there are any folks out there who still play DVDs: The Oshima was Region 3. Do they still block watching DVDs from the wrong region? I was looking to buy a new DVD player but they don't mention which region codes they play. Is everything "region free" now?

If we only considered actors who are still alive, this guy would be #1 (and he's in 27th overall)
I've now passed the 700 movie mark on my Letterboxd updates.
A pattern is forming:
1) of the top 20, only 2 are women
2) of the top 20, all are dead!
3) of the top 20, almost all are character actors, not many leading actors
4) currently #1 is a character actor whom I did not consider (Bissell and Foulger should be able to pass this guy?)
Looked through my DVDs to see what obscurities might be there. Looks like Asian and Brit movies.

Hammer Film Noir (14 movies)
British Noir (15 movies)
Asian Action Extreme (4 movies)
Hope in the World (Shen Fu)
The Castle Of Sand (Namura Yoshitaro)
The Spring River Flows East (Cai Chushang)
Never Stop (Zhang Xinshi)
Three Beauties (Chen Liting)
Heroic Driver (Lu Ban)
Jean Renoir 3-DVD Collector's Edition
plus a bunch of more mainstream stuff that you can probably find streaming somewhere.
Any Letterboxd users out there?
I've found that the total watched for an actor on my "stats" does not agree with the total watched by me on the actor's bio.
Example, my stats say that I've seen 7 Whit Bissell movies but Whit Bissell's bio says I've seen 10.
I can see which 7 but I cannot see how they counted the 10.
Does anyone know the answer to this?
I don't not know the answer but I thought I'd add that I use Criticker and that's where my stats came from.

I got a quick reply from Letterboxd. One total is the "on screen" count and the other includes "uncredited" appearances.
I checked Bess Flowers to see if this is true. It is. Bess Flowers would be 10 films ahead of the current #1 if we used all appearances.
We are using the "on screen" credit count only so this helps out the "lead" actors.
Due to this and the huge amount of Whit Bissell TV credits, I'm taking him off my list and putting Henry Fonda back on.
Remember, you can enter at any time because you have until/including the 17th to change your mind.
I find Letterboxd quite fascinating because beside the actor count you get other useless counts like "art direction" and "set decoration".

With entries being very slow in coming, I'd better give out more clues. The number is their current rank after 1076 films.
#1 - character actor in generally prestigious productions. Both given and family names are 4-letter words.
#2 - leading man of B-movies in the 30s and 40s. Was in a set of films about a particular private eye.
#3 - from England, tried farming in Canada but wound up a Hollywood movie star (but not of "A" pictures)
#4 - have no idea who this guy is
#5 - I think he was in every grade Z 50s sifi movie
#8 - I've mentioned her before - still hanging in there despite the fact that I've never heard of her (she's from the UK)
#11 - he was Patty Duke's "father"
#13 - his sons were also actors
#20 - first big star here - started in the early 30s but really hit his stride in the 40s

If you're desperate for a top 100 pick, this guy is currently #60
