46 years to the day since the last gold medal team (miracle team).

Johnny Gaudreau's family in attendance. His son's birthday today.

Such a great story.

Go USA!!

by housenuts m

Let's hope this gets Americans interested in hockey and the game can grow

Except they won't see anything close to this

Sid looks pissed at everyone

Sid looks pissed at everyone

So glad they lost - just a shame he couldn't play the last 2 games. How terrible. Lol

Now we can forget this ever happened.

Tough mixed feelings in Wpg for sure

Lots of videos and pictures being taken so nah, I don't think so.

GET ****ED CANADA

Lol Priz lives in the most Priz way possible

RIP Johnny Hockey

Hell of a game.

doesn't matter, won 4 nations

also, lol jest if they don't trade hollerback girl right ****ing now. thought he was a little bit younger than nearly 33 years old ... coincidentally he's rocking a career-worst save %, but going forward his value will probably never be higher than it is at this moment. they of all teams really gotta take advantage of this.

When does nhl start again

you lost

QOTD

Would you rather your country win gold or your team win the Stanley Cup?

Gold Medal. A whole country is in utter shambles today. Nothing can touch this feeling. I can't stop consuming content related to it. Watched the Golden Goal 1000 times.

Pragmatically I do not disagree

Still. Hellafuk brought it today

Keep giving McOverrated his participation trophies

all tournament really. 1.18 gaa, 95.6 sv%, full value for best goalie in the tournament, with a shout for tournament mvp. kinda funny that he didn't notch a shutout though, and hasn't gotten one during the nhl season either, which would be a first since before he played for the odessa jackalopes of the north american hockey league. probably his entire life he hasn't gone a season without getting a shutout lol.

so yeah, point is the jets really should sell high now on connor "he'll give ya 1" hollerbackgurl, especially in case the wheels are currently falling off the cart

One thing is for sure, Americans know how to celebrate a win. No way would the Canadian content be as entertaining if they had won.

A scary thought is a lot of team USA is young enough to be returned next Olympics. Where Canada again will have high end talent but not much depth or goalies?

All of Canada could be back except Croz (didn't even play), Marchand, Doughty, Parayko...no huge loss except Crosby and he wasn't even playing.

Bedard, Schaefer and other studs coming in.
USA has Caufield and Hutson....

Canada has more depth. They win today's game like 80% of the time.

Goaltending is a problem in Canada, although it wasn't today. Binny was fine, Helle was just sick and Canada couldn't finish.

Canada has problems if Reinhart, Wilson, Horvat, Stone, Sanhiem are on the next Olympics roster.

They limped their way to the final, 2 lucky comebacks and Finland was missing Barkov. Couldn't score goals and never dominated any competitive team all tournament.

Hughes brothers, Tkachuks, Eichel, Matthews, Werenski, Thompson are NHL superstars. Sure Mcdavid, MacKinnon, Celebrini are generational high level talents but USA is deeper atm.

We doubled up everyone in shots. I'm guessing Corsi and the other advanced stats were heavily in Canada's favor too. Ya the score in all 3 games was close, but the games weren't really they close. We just couldn't finish.

We just couldn't finish. Hard to gauge much in single elimination knockout. Best of 7 and its probably a rout.

Who cares? That doesn't win you gold, they had scoring issues last year as well. It's not a positive sign to outshoot your opponent 3 games in a row like that and be lucky to win 2 of them and lose one on OT.

Outside of Makar noone on D is an offensive threat

Outside of the big 3, Crosby and the odd Marner shift no one is a major offensive threat.

Schaefer should be sick, but USA should have Hutson if y'all decide to roster him.

Agree on "odd" Marner shift. He's very polarizing. Sometimes elite, sometimes total dust.

we got Hagens in '30
