New fast food discussion/review thread
OK OOT, it's been a while since we had a devoted fast food thread around here and I think it's time we had a new one.

Somebody brought Jet's to poker night the other week. Looked good, but I didn't get a piece. Maybe Detroit style?
Not fast food related, but I since we discussed ocean fish...the first sailing trip I went with my friends, I was staying at a local resort before we sailed. Having a beer, after the restaurant closed, the chef came out and had one before going home.
We got to talking, and I mentioned I'd never been a seafood fan. He told me I'd just never had it properly prepared. He'd make me something for tomorrow's dinner. If i didn't like it, it was on the house.
Next night, I got a piece of something. Yellowfin maybe? A triangular, fairly thick chunk of fish.
Went back to the kitchen, thanked Todd for the meal. I'm sure it was great, just didn't do anything for me.
Of course, I didn't tell him that--it's me, not his preparation., It was ok, but nothing I'd order again.
New JITB Hot Mess thing. I imagine some of you guys would like it, I'm a bit scared for now.
Headlining for a limited time, this burger has a 100% beef jumbo patty seasoned as it grills, white cheese sauce, shredded pepper jack cheese, pickled jalapeños, and onion rings on toasted Sourdough bread.
They have these as a "treatment", as in a few different kind of sammiches get the Hoe Mess treatment.

Sourdough buns are great. Those things look like English muffins.
The sourdough buns is about the only redeeming quality at JITB. That burger does sound good. Single is only $5.29 so I may give it a try.
On the topic of fish, of course when you are getting fast food fish or fish sticks or whatever you have no idea about the preparation process.
But as a person who has been fishing and eating fish for as long as I can remember, you just have to know how to clean the fish. Some larger fish have "veins" or oil glands that you want to remove to prevent a strong fish taste of the filets. You always want to remove any visible "silverskin". You want to obsessively rinse all of the blood and slime from the filets after cleaning. Trim off the belly meat. Throw back larger fish.
I guarantee that some of you who have had bad fish experiences would enjoy a good midwest fish fry by someone who knows what they are doing, from cleaning to frying.
And I'm not talking about a batter that is so heavily seasoned that it masks the fish flavor.
A pan of oil (use coconut oil if you've got it). Filets dipped in flower, then egg, then crushed up saltines. Fry each side. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to the first side after it is done frying.
Not too long ago I put a taco on my Jumbo Jack and it was a lot better than I expected it to be.

The new Ham and 3-Cheese Melt from Jimmy John's is really good.
I just Big Arched, it was good…but nothing special/fantastic, not going again at that price.
They lost me on their hamburgers when I got a Big Mac several years ago and the patties were so thin that you could read a newspaper through them. Or could if there were such a thing as newspapers now.
