POG Politics Thread Version 3
Come on in! Since Dustin is taking his ball and going home, it's time to start a new politics thread.
social libertarian
want government to provide essential services like roads, healthcare, utilities, and regulate industries
do not want a military with offensive capabilities (scuttle our aircraft carriers), do not want government issuing movie ratings, or seat belt laws (but if you didn't wear a seatbelt you pay for your healthcare)
that kind of stuff
fact that i can't legally drink a beer on the steps outside my home or cut down the tree in my backyard without a permit is absurd overeach
military ... control of .... the tools in mass domestic surveillance and fully autonomous weapons
seems like an appropriate time to drudge siren
I always wave to my Tesla cabin camera and outside house cameras.
Ch 3: Cloud Capital
Spoiler
from the enclosure of land to the enclosure of identity - what I think Deleuze describes as the dis-integration of the self - and the commodification of the soul
"cloud capital" is taking that "expression" value which the factory owner couldn't reach, your concern itself is their commodity.
the bullshit products you buy are secondary, means only to the end of capturing your focus, obscuring it from you, and ultimately guiding it through feedbacks of trust and expectation
enter the digital Fief
your lord owns the land (platform), permits vassals (marketers) to work* you upon it, and its sheriff collects the rent (fees)
* your work is not toil in the sun, it is your communication of preferences, and fears, that your lord extracts from your activity; they own your information, your digital identity, and you can only use it on their terms, with their permission
you can only opt out by withdrawing from society generally, and you will thus live a squalid life of loneliness, a hermit in the digital woods
Tesla is a specific example - your act of driving itself constitutes your willing participation in the extraction of your expressive labor
Yes. I like relaxing and letting someone/it do the work. Especially if they are better at it than me.
Re: Cloud Capital
That is about as vanilla and bland a take as one could want.
He trots out Deleuze why? Exactly? Name dropping. There is something there but he just gestures at it.
I think this rehashes Zizek's rant on Starbucks where you're getting ethical redemption with your latte, but with less impact.
And maybe it was written before but the Cybertruck specifically is like one of those big spotlight beams they get when they open a new car lot, but for being an ass hole.
I believe I am pretty high and partially responding to Wws posts as if they are the Greek man's book quotes so good time for bed.

right, you do get some benefit, otherwise the project would never get going
the parallel is wage labor - you work, and you do get paid, but you don't get the full value of your labor, and the more you warp your life around that exchange, the more control of your life you effectively cede to your advantaged counterpart, creating a feedback spiral of increasingly dependent exploitation
there is then also a tragedy-of-the-commons effect which has created a new super-billionaire class of tech overlords who, like in the article quoted yesterday, are empowered to create the "mass surveillance" state to a degree not foreseen even by Orwell's 1984:
It's not just cameras everywhere. It's also that, but those are moreso to pick up stragglers and vagabonds. They don't need to watch you when they already know you are going, what you're doing - you happily tell them as they tailor your pathway

given that the guy was the minister of finance of an EU member state only 10 years ago, it seems wild to me that he's gone this far!
Zizek's rant on Starbucks
that's the Don Draper, "beginning of the end" aspect
the Cybertruck specifically is like one of those big spotlight beams they get when they open a new car lot, but for being an ass hole
my family has updated the brutal "punch buggy" game to modern times... "CYBER PUNCH!"
sometimes they have cool paint jobs, but they're always $90k PsOS directly feeding most of what is wrong in the country today
Fauxmoi was very happy team usa Captain got booed by Canadian team he plays for because he visited Trump and stuff, but seems he probably got booed because the jumbotron was showing him with his team USA jersey and gold metal.
I do encourage a good booing. We should boo more. Unfortunately without a sign may be hard to know why we are booing.

anything and anyone American should just be bood all the time
democracy now says satellite images shows the school used to be connected to an irgc naval building, but separated by 2016, completely walled off, different building, painted with murals.
i think we were definitely in the wrong, but at the same time deciding to place a school next to a military building was done intentionally - blood is on multiple hands on this one
it's tantamount to using your child as a human shield when there's an active shooter
throughout history, empires have always slaughtered children of the people they are stealing wealth from.
standard operating procedure
Agreed!
President Donald Trump says he must be personally involved in deciding who will lead Iran after the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. "They are wasting their time. Khamenei's son is a lightweight. I have to be involved in the appointment," Trump said.
Booooo
Don't forget about google search. Can't let that get away unscathed. smh
