In the spirit of the books and movies threads, here's one to talk about what you're listening to lately and what you hav
I have no Idea what I'm looking at. Is this Brazilian?
a DJ spinning vinyl. some from the 70s, some current, some his originals, most not. some brazilian samba and embolada, colombian cumbia and funk, jamacian reggae/ska/dub/jungle, african, and even artists from france and canada. i swear theres even a song that sounds zydeco.
just thought it was a great groove for background listening.

I have a bunch of weird personal traditions. One of them is my birthday playlist. Today happens to be my birthday. So every birthday I try to listen to the same three albums. I don't always succeed but I probably done it about half of the time since my 17th birthday. The three albums in question are:
Deja Vu - CSNY
The Worst of - Jefferson Airplane
II - Led Zeppelin
I received these three albums as birthday gifts on my 17th birthday. At the time I thought it was a wonderful gift. And I decided I would listen to these three albums everyday on my birthday every year. My 17th birthday was a long time ago. But I have tried to keep up with the tradition and have been true to it about half of the time. But one thing I noticed today was I enjoyed listening to these albums today just as much as I did when I first received them 55 years ago. I still have the vinyl stored away somewhere but I replaced all of that once the CDs became available.
Thanks! JA was great. It's no Secret is awesome. White Rabbit is one of the best ever and Somebody to Love and Volunteers are all-time classics. But the one that really gets to me? Lather!
I find it interesting that JA is getting the love here? All 3 of these bands are in the rock and roll hall of fame (which didn't exist back in 1971). But of the 3 I would suspect JA is behind CSNY and Led Zeppelin on most lists.

It's a perfect listen. I could never figure out what he was doing with the turntable, but i played it while i was playing an online tourney, and it ended exactly when my bust out badacey hand went down in flames...

he's controlling the fade in and fade out of each song to feather the beats together (sometimes in an asyncronous manner). i also believe he was selecting tracks as he was going along and not playing a preordained list.
