2026 Formula 1 - I Love A Parade! #TheRealRacesAreNowOnSaturdays
Low expectations.
very interesting betting market for the weekend's race which shows what the market thinks of the different drivers, the different teams and how they view the gap between the drivers on the same teamGeorge a clear favourite at $2.85 (his teammate Kimi at $9 is a huge gap for an established teammate)Max second favourite at $4.40 with his teammate Hadjar at $101!!!!Charles $5.70,
How is Lewis favored over both McLaren's and Kimi?
Edit: Well, Oscar's car just died 2 minutes into Practice 1.
Arvid Lindblad's car died before the end of the pit exit. Not a good start for the rookie.
Will the 107% rule come into play this weekend? The rule states that any car must run a lap at a time that is at most 107% of the fastest car in order to be eligible to make the race. The rule is in effect to prevent non-competitively slow cars from posing a safety risk by being so much slower than the field.
For example, if the fastest lap ran is 1:20.00, the 107% rule says that a car must run a lap of at most 1:25.60 or faster in order to be eligible to race. In recent memory, this would be a non-issue for all teams. But who knows with this entirely new package what might yet happen this weekend.
Note that stewards have the ability to override this rule and allow a car/driver to race even if they don't set a fast enough lap.

I wonder what the Hadjar odds will be tomorrow. Probably more like $10.10.
Hadjar's first podium with Red Bull will happen before Hamilton's first podium with Ferrari.
Sadly, I won't be watching any of the races this year as I would have to sign-up for an Apple TV subscription. F that. So tired of having to pay money for yet another streaming service to watch something once a week.

I'm not a fan of "traditional" broadcast/cable tv sporting events moving exclusively to streaming platforms. Somehow I missed hearing about the F1 move to Apple TV until just recently.
For me it was only about $5 per month more to add Apple TV to my existing Peacock membership. If all I do is watch F1 races with Apple TV, to me that is more than $5 worth of monthly entertainment.
Ya the price is more than reasonable just for the entertainment and CONVENIENCE
Can watch on device from anywhere is nice
Kimi with a mistake here I would consider a choke. Fastest car and crashing like that is bad. Such a wasted chance. Hope they get the car nicely ready for quali
Max just crashed in turn 1 of his first flying lap of Q1. This season is poised to be chaotic.
Fantastic work by the mechanics. Kimi getting a nice 2nd life here.
Early season will be entertaining. Chaotic is right. Kinda hope there’s rain tomorrow so Max can cook.
Both Racing Bulls making Q3 probably means Ford did a decent job. As a Max fan, this is promising.
Mercedes as dominant as expected. Sick lap from Hadjar. Well done
Merc a second ahead of the field might make the season to be a snoozer.
Need Max to make it interesting.
One RB driver qualifies third, the second driver bins it. Nothing new.
Max starting from the back in an apparently decent car is bound to provide entertainment
So the rear axle could just randomly seize up at any moment and send you spinning? Among myriad other problems. How many cars will even finish the race, O/U 12?

The cause of Max's crash is a gigantic concern. Cannot be understated. Monumental. The way Max has talked about his future, if this year's car is dangerously unreliable like that, I think this is his last year in F1, and he might not even finish it out.
F2 result commentary:
Spoiler
Colton Herta with a respectable 7th place finish in his first ever F2 Feature race. Not bad.
Omg. Gutted for Oscar
Home race. Damn
Standard Ferrari strategy lols robber us of a closer race. But I thought a very promising 1st GP
Rough start for Red Bull. First the car of Max randomly spinning and then Hadjars engine blowing up
Merc not only have the best car but also the best tyre deg by far? Norris and others reporting their tyres shredded after 10 laps. Meanwhile Merc pits fairly early and easily makes it to the end with good pace.
Could make for a boring season, but let's see what kind of car Max has. I don't have much faith in Ferrari being able to mount a consistent charge due to their constant unforced errors.
Racing was good in the first half, but it all feels so gimmicky. Start is just a lottery, who will get F'd by battery/wheel spin and who won't? Passing seems more about who is better at charging their car than actual racing skill.
It felt very Mario Karty
