Honest question, any theory how the missed 10/7?

I still think they deliberately let that happen. Netanyahu is a Trump clone. Corruption thru the roof, pathological liar. To me, there isn't any other explanation, as they are regarded as highly competent. The only other explanation is dismissive arrogance toward intelligence that suggested a 10/7 was imminent

My theory: they knew 10/7 was going to happen and let it happen on purpose so they'd have an excuse to finally destroy Hamas.

I wouldn't say I can prove it.

But virtually the entire leadership was murdered while convening in a vulnerable building while the US military was ready to attack.

You'd think they would meet in a secret and/or underground location when the enemy is about to bomb your country.

That said, maybe these folks are just really, really dumb and their ideology and Koran have little or nothing to do with their stupidity.

I don't buy this. Netanyahu isn't a Trump imitator. The first time he was elected PM of Israel was twenty years before Trump was elected to his first term. For better or worse, he is his own thing. My understanding is that Netanyahu got a fair bit of domestic criticism for not preventing the October 7 attack.

Maybe he will be proven wrong, but Netanyahu has said that he is of the opinion that Israel can only begin to rehab its image AFTER bringing peace by destroying its enemies. But as long as it is continually fighting for its survival, its image is going to be bad anyways. So sacrificing security for goodwill is a fool's errand.

As I have said before. The main problem is that all the incentive structures all incentivize conflict, not peace.

And believe it or not people do forgive and forget and move on if you let them. Which the Palestinian Resistance understands well; which is why their entire generational strategy is to make sure the world cant ever forgive, forget and move on.

My understanding is the Israeli govt. opinion at the time thought overthrowing the IRGC should be the priority, not Saddam in Iraq. But I doubt they was losing sleep over the US overthrowing Saddam.

Israel knew getting rid of Saddam would give Iran a strong foothold in the country. At the same time Saddam was lobbing scuds at them back in 91 and one less enemy in the region that the US would take the flak for is still a better outcome than the status quo.

They got leveled. We made them an offer they would accept and were meeting to prepare their terms for the final negotiations scheduled for the very next day.

I don't know if they didn't want us to invade. But we basically made Israel sit on their hands and just play defense amidst attacks from Iraq for fear sparking a jihad sort of response from Muslim countries or putting SA in a bind.
