The whole narrative of Trump being some kind of savant negotiater seems to have died completely. Tearing up the Iran deal then having to go to war because they started doing stuff they stopped when the deal was in place is an insane blunder. Sending Witkofff anf Kushner who had no knowledge of the region or nuclear treaties as the final effort should be more universally criticized.

Given what this idiot has done already for literally no rhyme or reason, the least terrible option (but still truly terrible option) is boots on the ground and a commitment to regime change. I don’t advocate this at all, but considering the alternatives at this point I do not believe there is a better option. The execution of this will be worse than what it was done in Iraq and Afghanistan combined but this is kinda what you signed up for at this point cuz the alternative is:

Probably Iran will just keep sending missiles and drones to any and every US base in the region and/or attack the gcc countries until they agree to kick out the US. At that point Iran will have total victory, the petrodollar will be dead, and the US will crumble.
It's either that or nuclear war in which case Russia and China probably step in. No good outcomes. Boots on the ground is basically impossible. They would just annihilate any troops with drones and missiles.
People seem to think that Iran is the same as Iraq, or Afghanistan, or Syria, or some of the other states we've beat up but they're on another level and not like any adversary the US has faced since WW II or Korea.
Just leaving and saying this is all you wanted to accomplish is way better than boots on the ground. An extended ground based war with all the logistics involved managed by Trump and Hegseth is just a no go from the start.

Leaving this fiasco to its own devices and leaving it with absolutely nothing but killing an ayatollah, bombing the **** out of as much of the country as was available, getting absolutely nothing diplomatically and creating more of a hellscape in the Middle East than what existed when you tore up the nuclear deal cuz you were mad obummer was the one who did it creates a total unknown of likely chaos that you created for no reason and got nothing out of
If trump wanted to assassinate khameni and do nothing else, that’d be one thing. Not a great thing, but at least you could theoretically walk away and declare victory. He took it further by continuing an ambiguous bombing campaign with no stated purpose and has, to this point, gotten absolutely nothing out of it but creating global chaos singlehandedly for absolutely no reason
