I don't think it matters a whole lot on the flop. Both are viable options. I would guess you are the fav against a set here.

I'd call turn, because I highly doubt you have any fold equity and there's no reason to give him your stack if the board pairs.

Is a set the only hand V has here? How about Ad3d?

I probably still make it 750 on the flop.

Call, call. For me raise flop is a mistake.

Without looking at replies, call call.

Are we in danger of giving him 3/4 if say 8x hits?

I am calling turn but there are plenty of ugly river cards. And just because he’s bad doesn’t mean he can’t have A3dd. But he also could have a dry QQ or even QJT98.

And yes hero is small favorite over AQQ3? with no flush draw.

I don't think you're going to be able to fold your nut low on the river. Going to be 2000ish left to bet with 2250 in the pot

Honestly if you habitually consider folding nut low on the river you are playing the game all wrong. Maybe, maybe if the pots tend to be multi way and the game is super passive.

What if we had nfd instead?

I think then the hand is simply always raise.

I agree you can’t fold the nut low on this hand with this villain. What about if the river is the 2/4d and v bets 2K?

Calling turn and running the river twice would seem lowest variance.

River was the 2ddd and he shoved.

Fold.

Yeah, he’s bad and β€œgetting aggro with the wrong hands” i.e. β€œsteaming” so he certainly has AdQT93x sometimes but he also has 5d3d422 and every combination of AdXd & QQ sometimes. He’s on tilt with QQ886ds in the BB, what’s another $40 getting 5-1 to set/sfd mine? Grimace fold.

During the hand, my advice would be to think only about the EV. If you put yourself into position where you can't take EV because you don't want variance, re-consider your game choice and whether poker is for you or not.

Hero may well not have EV on the turn. But if he does, he should shove then, right?

And shouldn’t you be encouraging new fish to play non-NLHE games, especially at higher stakes than they’re used to? πŸ˜€

That is not correct.

It doesn't matter much to me.

He is never folding that hand. Not because he’s on tilt, but because he has no clue what a good hand is.

Honestly I have trouble understanding most posts by BE. Just calm the **** down and stop overcomplicating everything. Focus on the absolute basics.

Raise the max preflop.
Call flop.
Call turn.
Fold river.

Well sure. Then again you also wrote absolute nonsense like "Hero may well not have EV on the turn. But if he does, he should shove then, right".
