When someone notice you're a nit...

2/5 9 handed.

Eff 700, we cover.

V plays weird, opens gigantic with a wide range. Usually passive postflop can get aggro in weird spots. Donk out in mwp w/tpnk.
He doesn't limp too much, but does call and open wide.

Fishy reg in mp limps
Fish limps in mp+1
V in HJ limps
Hero in CO picks up 9T opens to 40
Only V calls, before calling he makes a speech saying how tight we are, how we only play 1 hand per dealer change(half an hour).
If V didn't make speech, I'd think we might have a semi aggro image, I 3betted like 4 times, folded to a 4bet once. I 3betted V once, he called, flop j92ss he x/f to small bet.
I also barreled frequently as pfr.
Now villain tells us we are a nit, what's your postflop plan vs villain?

Hu pot 95
Flop A4A
V checks
H cbets 30
V calls
The range we'd give him here is alot of low pp(55~88), some Axs, some fd.

pot 155
Turn 3
V checks
H ???
What's our plan? 3barrel? giveup?

Check back. Give up on the hand.

After he calls hero’s small flop bet, V has Ax, pp, or a flush draw, maybe a back door draw to the wheel? The 3h is a bad card. 9Ts is a bluffing hand. You want to win with it preflop or with a cbet on the flop.

Agreed. I would barrel any face card but 3h is terrible.

limp pre

i just give up turn.

I think I would be cautious here. When the reg says ‘here comes the nit’ and calls, in my experience it’s a big hand. And I do find myself in this situation.

If it makes you feel better, I don’t think you’re a nit at all raising with a hand that I would fold. I like Ax suited and small pairs, but y’all can have the connectors, they’re hard to play profitably.

Without the speech, I might have potted the flop and represented an ace, but now I check the flop, which is basically what you did downbetting.

Take the FreeCard
If he checks again on the river, I might bet pot and try to steal, but I would have to be there and have some confidence I could get a fold

You have to ask what you expect to accomplish when you bet that hand pre?
Are you trying to steal the blinds and want folds? Are you hoping for a draw you can play aggressively? Do you feel confident bluffing the rest of the table?

A good question to ask yourself is would I play this hand unsuited? If not, that extra 3% edge is probably not worth it.

Not criticizing your play as a lot of folks like these hands. If you were trying to shove a bluff thru, then you just got unlucky when villain ran his mouth and now I would shutdown.

When I think someone's a nit, I over-fold to their pre-flop raises. When I tell them they're a nit, I may not necessarily think that. I might be trying to get under their skin, to get them to loosen up and bluff some, because I think they're going to over-compensate.

If this is the same guy from the "keep you honest" thread, he's a table-talker. It's usually going to be the opposite of whatever he says. If he really thought you were a nit, why's he calling? Maybe he has a strong hand and wants to encourage you to play off your image. Maybe he's got some ideas about running a "sick bluff" on you, because he thinks you over-fold post.

I wouldn't hate over-limping from the CO with T9s. If the BTN or blinds are squeeze-happy, I wouldn't hate a fold. I'm not crazy about opening T9s for a raise over three limpers, including this Chatty Cathy who may think he's trapping by over-limping with what he thinks is a big hand.

FLOP - I mean...are you just range betting? Why? Wouldn't you check back AA/AX here?

V either has AX and is never folding, or he has a flush draw and is never folding. He's probably not folding any PP between 55 and 99. We have no pair, no draw, no fold equity, and apparently no credibility with this cat.

Why are we trying to make him lay down anything? Just check back, and see what he does on the turn. He'll tell you what he has.

Or, go ahead and bet, then $hlt your drawers when he calls, and give up on all turns.

TURN - how's the $hlt in your drawers feel?

I'd give up, but I wouldn't be here. Check back, and pray for a river T.
