NCAA Hoops 2025-26 Season Thread: MARCH SADNESS FOR DUKE
Looks like UK is getting out of the gate with a win against vaunted Nicholls State. This on the heels of a pre-season lo
Dook only has one more title than UNC in the 64 field era.
UNC has been to 3 title games since the last time dook was in one. Not to mention, UNC beat dook to go to our last title game. And also won K’s very last home game.
UConn has been the best basketball school since the late 90s.

Florida has more titles than Duke over the last twenty years.
Amazing rivalry and amazing tournament. These are the two big dogs of the 64 team era. 11 titles combined compared to, say, blue bloods UNC and UK 6 combined titles. Maybe Pitino with his talk of a last second heave against Duke was feeling it by beloved (lol) UConn instead his Red Storm. I guess that makes UConn 17-1 in the tournament the last 4 seasons, with the one loss to
Nope, that's wrong about the end of the Gator/UConn game in last year's tournament. Confusing it with something else apparently. Anyway, UConn is 17-1 in the tournament last 4 years with only a 2pt. loss to the champ-to-be.
Oh, I see UConn is a dog again. I can see them being a dog in the final, certainly, but not sure about the semis. Meanwhile glad I resisted the Duke money line here, where laying 2/1 and more against UConn is not a value.
Duke blew double digit leads in all 3 losses this year, they said. Of course they had about 30-something of them, so they are winning 90-something percent, so it's not as easy as just saying they are getting tired. It looks like only Boozer plays very high minutes in close games. Today they had about 57 minutes of reserve play, only Cameron was over 30 minutes. That's plenty of rest on the floor.
I wonder about the religious zeal of the program, if that can tend to produce early rallies and late fades. There is a thing called pacing, in fights, in hoops .. consider an NBA team. There is a natural pacing. They don't come out at breakneck speed and neither do most fights. If you do, there is a price on the other end.

Tell the truth, did you think UNC was going to beat Duke in that F4 game, coach K's last, a few weeks after beating him in his last Cameron game??
Yes
To be fair some of the UConn players did run onto the court (before getting off), and Hurley was on the court during the play lol.
I'm not sure of the exact rules, and crying about this is LOL, but still.
(I'm 10000% sure Scheyer was on the court when ball was live at some point)

There would be like a million technical fouls if they strictly enforced it all, but then every team would complain about the bench area being way too small.
Even with the coaching box, it has to be pretty egregious before the refs even give a warning.

yeah like this is the kind of rule that gets violated in like every other close game that's ever occurred and as long as the players very quickly get back off the floor and don't interfere with the play of the game, it's never assessed, and it shouldn't be.
getting mad about this is silly and extreme cope. a more fun nonsensical thing to get mad about is when they put up the 1/19 from 3 or whatever exactly it was that uconn was shooting near the end of the game when they were down like 11 that made it abundantly clear that duke was going to end up with 4 empty possessions near the end of the game and uconn was going to sink every 3 pointer because that's just the way the world works.
or dan hurley heatbutting the ref and not getting a technical for that. there's still a healthy amount of cope involved because the collapse still happened, but that NEVER should have been let go.
Duke has a reasonable case for protest. Maybe we can replay it Thursday afternoon?
I'm not sure Hurley headbutted him as much as the ref jammed up to within inches of him when Hurley was indeed crooning his neck forward a bit. The 'chest bump ' thing is asinine, as the next question should be, "How many times have you chest bump celebrated with refs before?" Oh, zero?
Hurley wasn't even walking toward the ref, but the ref was walking right up in his face. Maybe Hurley was cutting him off, and he was definitely playing games with the ref, showing him up, heavily frowned upon, and certainly T-able. Seems Hurley is saying 'We won anyway in spite of you." That's not allowed.
But it was the ref coming right up in his grill, so that when Hurley merely looked down it was a forehead touch.
Yeah i was wondering after the game bout Hurley was so out of his coaching box whether they'd call a technical foul. That was the sickest beat of all time. The other boozer just threw it up seeing his boys open on other side of the court. And with so little time i get it. Then deflected and one of their best shooters gets a chance and nails it. What a brutal beat. That game was so over it wasn't funny.
The chest bump thing is obviously a joke. Best explanation I heard was he was originally leaning in to hear what the ref had to say, and I guess the ref wasn't actually trying to talk to him. Looks actually pretty normal in actual real life speed and not if you slow it down to the nth degree.
The only reason it's super strange is Hurley didn't have a reaction to it like laughing about it or apologize.

Yeah he's a world-class a-hole egomaniac. A lot of his behavior is strange.
The amount of disrespect UConn constantly gets is embarrassing.
3 years ago we never had a game on CBS until the Elite Eight.
This year we are barely favored, or underdogs every game.
40-1 to start the tournament is the highest I've ever seen for a 2 seed
Every tip off was at 11pm local time! For a storied franchise, it's DISGUSTING!
KenPom never gives us any credit, **** him!
And....We had to go through UCLA, Michigan St., Duke, Illinois and Michigan or Arizona.
Make it harder! That's what she said.
It doesn't matter. Reed is the best big man in the country, nobody has more guts than Karaban, Mullins is the best shooter in the country and I can't wait until UConn is cutting down the nets and every talking head is going, erp dup but KenPomNerd said that UConn couldn't win because of their EFG rating, uh WHAT IS AN EFG RATING!
The game is played on the court!!!!
See ya Saturday, Go UConn!
