Suitedjustice's Ongoing Mid-life Crisis

I woke up in the middle of choking to death again; though to be accurate, it was towards the end of the process--woke up

Hi SJ, been awhile. Grunching:

Gram Parsons was undoubtedly a very talented guy who greatly influenced a lot of musicians, from Keith Richards & Side Two of Exile on down, but he was a hopeless junkie (Keef had to eventually show him the door. Keith Richards! During the Exile sessions!!), and I just don’t see the songwriting chops.

This trailer has every Sixties cliche song imaginable. Parker Posey notably refused to audition for the Angelina Jolie role, a decision that has haunted her ever since. Good thing Clarence Boddicker didn’t make that mistake!

This is probably the greatest self-penned obituary ever written. Pay link, sorry, but at one point he lists every brand he ever smoked: β€œβ€¦and finally, and I do mean finally, Marlboro Lights, the crack cocaine of cigarettes.” Cracked me up.

Two quick personal notes as I hardly warrant my own blog. 4/4 will be two years sober, and a week ago I finished 7th of 47, in that rarest of birds, a live NL27SD tournament, and then won $1135 playing Big O two days later!

Hi BullyEyelash! Wow, excellent post. Thank you for that!

I fixed the YouTube trailer: you take everything after the v= and stop before you hit the &. It's not a user friendly way to embed, but it's been the 2+2 way since the 20th century. Sounds like the amount they spent clearing the music rivalled the amount spent on the A-list actors.

Grats on the 2-7 Triple Draw cash! Plus getting to play with the lovely and talented Ms. Umewrova couldn't have been so bad. The big Big O cash was just gambling.

JK, grats on that as well.

And grats on the 2 years sober! It's a BFD; I do love waking up feeling solid from the get-go, knowing that my A game is not only possible but probable on that day.

I believe I can get around the New Yorker paywall with my javascript switcher-offer. That looks like a long article and I'll check that out after work.

I put $40 on UCONN to win the championship at +575. This is pure degening, so I'm not going to include it in the running tally.

honestly i don't mind it, they are a near coin flip to get to the finals

only gripe is you could have gotten better prices if you embraced digital currency

The 2-7 was actually SINGLE draw, no limit, not triple draw limit. I’m 60 and something of a wannabe poker historian and Ive never heard of any tournaments of it outside the WSOP & WCOOP, and of course it’s never spread live though I recall seeing interest lists at Binions 25 odd years ago.

Nobody else had either, but the TDs said they got requests for it because of mixed games and dealer’s choice so they took a chance on it. Great turnout, much younger crowd than Omaha 8/Big O, and everybody (mostly) seemed to have fun. Great game.

I played well in the Big O cash game and it was a fantastic lineup, but I ran hotter than the sun too. At least four nutnut river cards to scoop huge multiway pots.

Wow a 2-7 SD tourney seems like fun.

heck, i'd even play a badugi tourney if it meant playing with her - she's super cute, very surprising she's not more of a household name

This! I have never heard of her and with her decent HM and clearly above average looks, I am sure she could build a bigger name for herself

And congrats on the score Bully!!!

It was, shockingly. The Game Of The Future. Women finished 1 2 8.

It's a lot of prep for someone like me who averages around one bet per year.

If I win, I'll cash it out and get a prime rib and a nice dessert at the Chandler.

She won a nlhe shootout bracelet in 2016, and several locals told me she’s really good. Definitely vivacious personality, at least on that day.

A nice day at work: 4 hours at the poker table for +$266, and 4 hours at the slots for +$125.

One hand of poker found me with 54 on a 63K flop. MGM has a holdover promo from March where specifically the 6-high straight flush in spades is worth $16,000. I whiffed on it.

Also, I should have made $50 more on the slots, instead I took a marginal Hexbr3aker play because it was theorectically +EV and it was only 80c a spin. If you're not going for the progressive, Hexbr3aker hits fairly often; how much trouble could I get in on just 80c?

The answer was $50 worth.

In for $500. Good session so far. Anything can happen, though.

I held for +$589 on the poker over 4 hours and +$68 on the slots over 4 hours.

On the way home, I still got angry at a slow oil truck that lumbered along in front of me, slowly proceeding over the miles of twisty back roads all the way back to in front of my apartment, when a truck that size should have taken the slightly longer main roads. Traffic was such that I couldn't pass it at any point; I just had to endure.

I wasn't in a hurry, yet I still let it tilt me. I have a long way to go to reach Enlightenment.

If you're talking about the money I borrowed from family, I've been paying that back on the regular at the rate of $200/month. It's not the usual script handed out when someone borrows money from family to gamble, but I often do things a little differently.

+$33 on the slots over 4 hours and -$297 on the poker over 4 hours.

I made a big river bluff and it was snapped off. I showed the bluff, resulting in comments like "Damn, nice call." and "We're playing poker now."

At the time, we had four regs at the tableβ€”two of them pretty badβ€”and my overall image is tight and straightforward, so I'd like to think that I'll make some of that bluff money back on future value bets vs those regs.

Back atcha, brother, threefold.

Wasp in my apartment to start the day. I generally have a no-kill policy for bugs and spiders from non-invasive species, but wasps are an exception due to the difficulty in catching and releasing one.

I had to get this one against a window without cracking it. It's tough because wasps are like kings; if you make a move on it, you'd best kill it on the first try.

I've toyed with the idea of opening a window and giving them a 30 minute grace period to fly out, but that might just invite in more wasps if there's a nest nearby.

Was it whistling "The Farmer in the Dell"?

I just finished season 2 of Ted, it's pretty damn good. Seth MacFarlane said that they weren't doing any more seasons because rendering the CG teddy bear cost them as much as an Avengers movie every episode. He was probably exaggerating, but I get the point.

Good looking out, as the Brits say.

-$101 on the poker over 4 hours today and +$13 on the slots over 4 hours. I did not bring my A game to the table, but I feel that I'm picking up some better habits and an outlook that is going to bring it more often as I continue playing.

Tomorrow will be a short day as I'll be joining my family for Easter dinner in the afternoon.
