The Thursday Seniors is a $250 event

Where did you get the info about the $100 events, I couldn’t see anything of that sort on the WSOP website?

If I remember correctly from last year that's the Horseshoe daily in the HS poker room and unconnected to the WSOP. I remember it bc I was surprised it had 100+ runners!

I didn’t played last year. But played many times in past 5 years.

In addition to the first three in OP there is the following weekly wsop deepstacks:

Tuesdays 3pm $250 HORSE
Wednesdays 3pm $250 PLO
Thursdays 9am Seniors (50+) $250 NLH

nice they are adding non nlh events!

They had those same events last year, FWIW. But it is good to see them come back.

Note the early start to the Seniors, LOL.

Seniors gotta be done before bedtime. (I'm loving that Thursday 9:00 a.m. option on June 18 -- my flight home is the 11:45 p.m. red-eye and the 9:00 a.m. Seniors should be done by then.)

There is no chance it will be done by the time you have to be at the airport. I played in 3 of the Senior deepstacks last year, all ran well after midnight.

I’m curious… do you remember approximately how many played in those?

Oh, sounds like it is not associated with the WSOP and would be in that sad tiny niche that passes for a poker room.

Depends on how many they get. A couple years ago they were held in the main convention center(s) but these days, probably in the Paris Normandy room, in the Versailles tower. But it's definitely part of the WSOP.

Well . . . If I'm at the final table of the $250 with that many runners . . . my wife will understand if I have to change my flight to the next morning. πŸ˜‰

What about the daily Landmark satellites:

Daily 3:00 p.m. –$240 NLH Landmark satellite – 10x starting stack =$2000 (20 min. levels)
Daily 7:00 p.m. - $585 NLH Landmark Satellite – 10x starting stack = $5, 000 (20 min. levels)
Daily 10:00 p.m. - $135 NLH Landmark Satellite – 10x starting stack = $1, 000. (15 min. levels)

Although these are called "satellites" - the payout is in casino chips, not entry into a WSOP tournament, so they are more like "survivor/Landmark" events that have fast structures. An alternative to the DDS events, right?

What events will you be playing ?

Yes, it was a welcome change several years ago. WSOP benefits by not having to deal with lammers anymore, customers who don't want to actually play the events don't have to deal with trying to sell them, and usually at a discounted rate. It also increases attendance because people can just play them as survivor tournaments, so by not being forced to either play in the satellite event or sell the lammers it draws a bigger crowd.

The only people who suffer from this change are those who tried to buy lammers at deeply discounted rates.

I do miss the nostalgia though of waiting in line to buy into an event while people walk up and down the line trying to sell them.

These are fun, people make HUUUUGE strategy mistakes in them, but the rake is high. Structures are pretty fast obviously.

by riverph7 m

I'm arriving Sunday and thinking (now) about the 7:00 p.m. $585 Landmark satellite that evening, the night before day 1A of the Seniors. Will be playing Seniors mainly, with side events as necessary (especially on the off day Wednesday after I bag chips on Tuesday night on day 2A!!)

Yeah, high rake but as you note people play them so bad. WSOP actually helped the bad players a bit when they went from "Last 10%" get the money to once you get 10x stack you just get the money and your stack removed.
In so many satellites, WSOP(prior) and in many poker rooms still using old format, I have seen people get a 15 or 20x starting stack and continue to play lots of hands instead of basically sitting out.

I played the $70 for a Mini-Mystery seat today. 10 minute levels. Painful with a person that not only has never dealt poker before, they never played poker either.
