[extracted] New(?) 9-11 stuff
KSM got a plea deal. The guy who supposedly masterminded the 9/11 attacks is not getting the death penalty.
If you still
Not to mention the complete and utter hypocrisy. When you say "about" or "approximately", he'll be all over you to be exact. But when it suits him, a mass moving at 135mph and a mass at rest are really no different when it comes to modelling collisions. I don't think I've seen a bigger clown in my ****ing life.
Dude Brian James hasn't been gone long enough for you to forget him.
I didn't have too many interactions with him, as I didn't venture into the morass of the Covid thread. But the ones I did have did make me think that he might be a very rare and special person in many ways, none of them good.
He's literally just as dumb as billy and somehow even more obnoxious.
Billy, stop ****ing around and get on with your assignment. 5,000 words on torus Earth, go.
I don't think pointing out that objects in motion do more damage than those same objects at rest requires a huge amount of dedication, but in general, yeah, I find his complete and utter cretinism a source of entertainment, and occasionally frustration.
I like that the 110 floor Towers weighed an estimated 500,000 tons but Billy’s 4-5 floors only weigh about 13 tons, less than half what you would expect. And 5 floors dropping only provide 3% of the required force to shear a floor - so a floor could withstand a collapse of 150 floors if you extrapolated his formula. He doesn’t even pass a giggle test.
If we pay for billy to go to space, can we strap him to the exterior of the rocket for the greater good of the species.
There are lots of posters in this forum I would want to send into space before SillyBilly.* At least he typically isn't mean-spirited like lots of folks in this forum.
*I think it was first grade that I read a book called Silly Billy. I probably haven't even thought of that book in 60 years. Thanks Billy!
All they seem to have done is sit on their asses passing a microphone around.Sent from my SM-A366B using Tapatalk
I like you Billy, but Deuces did a similar response to this regarding an option trade question and Nut Nut did similar when I asked him to explain himself when he wanted to turn to China's approach due to the US's handling of water pollution which was pretty strong even for him.
How many in Nasa do you think know about the fact that we faked the moon landing in 1969 and how has that secret been so succesful? If you're a standout compared to the others with your takes then this really shouldn't be an avoidable question, imo. If it's all just more cover for the really stupid ass takes that you won't say(which I honestly don't think it is) then just ignore me all together and do your thing, I guess. It isn't a big deal. It's an interesting question. I really don't want to argue plastics or steel with some crazy **** who's just jerking himself and in mid chug over some fantasy world of his creation that involves his total control over others and my death like some lonely fat **** shining a magnifying glass on insects just so they get to dominate others.

Yo that supposed "meteor" is on display somewhere. They say 13 tons and 4 or 5 floors. Take it up with them. I use this example as the greatest weight of debris possible to cause the WTC6 hole. Other debris is lower mass, lower KE therefore less likely to rupture the floors. Holes go all the way from roof to ground - see photos above and on the site I linked.
Every AI generated solution for KE model comes out negative. Too much energy is transferred to deform and heat, and as sound. The block cannot have penetrated even the roof layer. Then there are 7 further layers of WTC6. It may form a crack for top layer then just sit there.
Mathematically it seems possible, also with an impulse calc it seems possible but that neglects energy transfers. There is a tremendous frictional force when concrete is under shear stress.
Try it and see. 13 tonnes moving at 60 m/s cannot shear 42 sq metres of ANY standard of concrete, unreinforced. 42 sq metres is area of WTC6 hole.

Explain, in excruciating detail, what "shearing 42 square metres of concrete" means in real life scenario terms.
For example - I have a concrete wall and I want to punch a hole in it. What is the area of the concrete I need to shear, what is the force or energy required to do so, and what are the inputs to this calculation? Radius of the hole? Thickness of the wall? Overall size of the wall? Strength of the supports of the wall? Specific material properties of my concrete?
If I have 10 concrete walls is it linear? Do I just multiply the answer above by 10? Does it matter how close they are to each other?
Err on the side of over-description here please.

See the attached photo of the WTC6 hole. This is 24 feet approx in diameter i.e. 42 sq metres. For each of the 8 floors there is at least one layer of concrete. As we see, these layers are sheared off. This means hole punched essentially.
A falling body of mass 13 tonnes at 60 m/s cannot penetrate even the first layer. If it did, by some bizarre impossible happenstance, it would transfer most of its KE away and become effectively a static load for the next floor. According to every AI model, it does not have anywhere near the required energy to penetrate even the first layer. It would crack the roof and sit there.

I edited in specific questions. Please address those.
It is lol yes but unavoidable because I can only estimate the energy transfers anyway so I might as well use googgle.
I did a lengthy impulse model. Then realised the block loses no energy on its descent, which is silly.

Also if we use the shear area 2.3 sq metres it ia still not enough energy to break one layer. Or by some freak it did, we then have no KE for the second layer etc.
I used the direct area because that seems a better model for KE. Makes no difference to overall result.

Since you seem to struggle with basic instructions:

And Billy, given that your initial calculations literally modelled the damage caused a gunshot by a bullet resting on the target with 0 speed, you are going to have to work very, very hard to persuade me that this new model is not equally as ******ed.

I have given you two separate models already for the exact problem in question.
See above.

This is desperate avoidance of the result. And distraction ofc.
For info about how shear stress works, see first explanation. If you cannot understand that then go and read an intro to mechanical engineering - materials under stress and strain.
For a KE calc see the AI solutions.
It cannot happen, unequivocally. The holes were not caused by falling debris.
If there is confusion over the mechanics of the thing, also use your general judgement. Observe the photographs.

And the idea that d2 is persuaded by scientific knowledge is laughable.
We are here to corner d2 and watch him squirm.

Explain it to me again like I'm 5, Billy. I don't want to see artificial intelligence solutions, I want your natural intelligence to shine through.
Maybe try answering some of the specific questions posed, instead of handwaving **** away too?
Specifically:
I have a concrete wall and I want to punch a hole in it
1. What is the area of the concrete I need to shear?
2. What is the force or energy required to do so?
3. What are the inputs to this calculation?
a. Radius of the hole?
b. Thickness of the wall?
c. Overall size of the wall?
d .Strength of the supports of the wall?
e. Specific material properties of my concrete?
