2028 ELECTION THREAD
Biden's own internal polling projected Trump with 400 electoral votes. No male Democrat was going to win that election, either. Polls showed that voters blamed the Dems for inflation. Carter was the sitting POTUS and lost in a landslide the last time inflation was as high as it was during Biden's term. The party in power gets thrown out when inflation is high. And, yes, the Repu
There is no way that the bolded is true. Trump got 312 electoral votes against Kamala. Even if he had won every state in which he was within 10 percentage points of Kamala, he would only have had 357 electoral votes.
People are starting to pull their head out of the water but they are still dripping in cope while leaning into fantasy scenarios where Kamala dragged us to war in the same manner destroying crypto and the stock market in a more spectacular fashion than what we are currently seeing.
Just dripping/drooling absolute dogshit ****ing ******s
Somehow this guy has a following and people who listen to him and think his opinion means something
Excellent goal! That said, how do you propose accomplishing this? Money ruled politics long before the Citizens United decision.
I'm not sure there's a way but in my utopia, PACs are outlawed and ALL campaign funds go through a bipartisan agency that knows who gives and who receives. It would take some percentage off the top to pay for itself.
Penalties for accepting outside funds/gifts/whatever are very harsh. First time, fined. Second time barred from public office. Something like that.
Corporations are not people. An individual's gift is capped at some amount.
I'm more aligning this with one person, one vote. Why would it be fair for someone who has billions to contribute $100 million dollars while an average person can only afford to give $1,000?
If you want to support your candidate with more than the max dollar amount allowed, volunteer for the campaign.
And lol bipartisan. All that means is locking every one else out. Look at how the parties control ballot access.
Locking who out? When I say bipartisan, I am implying the head of the agency would be led by an equal number of people from both parties and reviews would be done by folks on both sides. Similar to vote counting.
All of this talk is lol as nothing like this will ever happen.
If "we the people " weren't so dumb, the money wouldn't matter.
The good news is that we're all making the country a smarter place by posting our opinions in this forum.
Even the longest journey begins with the first step!
Geezer's Corollary: Even the shortest journey ends with the last step!

That was reported all over the media when Biden was pushed out. I did not post any links from BS right wing sites.

Maybe I/m wrong but it looks like you posted 1 idiotic claim that is regurgitated 3 different times in 3 different places. Getting to 400 would have most certainly required a big upset in what the betting markets had suggested at the time. Either way, I don't think a mummified Biden or Kamala was going to make much of a difference against any or even the worst GOP candidate that year.
Welp there were other choices besides Biden or Harris in 2024. Had Biden either withdrew before his mostly uncontested primaries or some late modified re-primary was done, you might have easily gotten in 2024 the guy overwhelming expected to win the 2028 DEM nomination, Newsom. And any running mate Newsom was to pick was a lock to be better than Walz and help more with holding the blue wall states that fell in 2024.

I wasn't claiming that you were lying. I was claiming that the source of your information couldn't possibly be correct if you actually look at a map.

What's the difference between Newsom and Harris ?
They're both elite bootlickers with no populist energy behind them.
Harris was selected undemocratically behind the scenes by party bigwigs. Newsom is propped up undemocratically by mainstream media.
Ask people to name a single policy that Newsom supports that will heal what ails the country.
They have nothing.
They're satisfied with performative opposition to Trump.
Might he win in 2028 ? Absolutely .... as the lesser evil in contrast to the outgoing disaster. under GOP leadership and competing in campaign debates moderated by multimillionaire anchors employed by billionaire media owners. But his prospective governance would not halt the spiral to the bottom and pave the way for the next fascist to replace him.
I think the Texas Senate election in 2026 is going to be a big litmus test for the how the 2028 Dem primary evolves.
We're already seeing the Dem Socialist wave building in NYC with Mandami at the epicenter. If the anti-billionaire Talarico somehow wins in Texas, the left is going to be emboldened to put up a challenger to the elitist Newsom.
Would love to see AOC take on Schumer in the 2028 NY Senate race and send him packing.
Nikki Haley seems to be the only one that can out perform these numbers and be a realistic bargain bet.
Eh. in a race without an incumbent, there is always a real chance that a presumptive leader for one party's nomination (e.g., Newsom) will implode for whatever reason. If Newsom imploded, the Democratic race would be very open.
