KSM got a plea deal. The guy who supposedly masterminded the 9/11 attacks is not getting the death penalty.

RFK Jr. is on record saying "no vaccine is safe and effective."

by geezerchess

I should point out that Gorgo and I are seldom in agreement on much of anything.

I guess that makes me a 'hostile witness.' 😀

Er, no. A hostile witness needs to know things so we can cite them.

Cliffs:

Gorgo likes vaccines.

Sent from my SM-A366B using Tapatalk

We all benefit from them. There's a reason why polio, for instance, is not the scourge that it was. And smallpox. You seem to be a mug for any idiotic conspiracy theory that comes along.

by geezerchess

Someone who thinks getting any vaccine is a bad idea.

As opposed to someone who is Vaccine Hesitant (e.g. RFK, Jr.), which is the belief that some vaccines are safe and effective when used as directed. In other words, a case-by-case basis of careful study before judging the vaccine.

But I thought antivaxxers were like terrorists? Opposed to all of our western beliefs and values. And they need to be destroyed.

If one says, "yeah thanks for the offer of medicine (are vaccines medicines?) but I'll pass." Are they an antivaxxer? Sounds a bit extreme. I imagine an antivaxxer to chain themselves to doctors' surgeries until all the vaccines are burned. No?

Ah now we get to the rub of it.

Geezerchess is all like "peace and love, Jesus teaches to get along, yeah feel free to do what you think is best for you and your family".

But now it seems if one says, "thanks but no thanks" then 57 on red and the royal We cannot "benefit"... the plot thickens. I'm a little scared of 57 on red, sounds like a guy who might own lots of guns.

Yes vaccines are medicine.

You know I always have receipts.

1:56:04 is the exact timestamp of where he says it.

RFK is an anti-vax moron that realizes that makes him look like an idiot, so he has tried to soften his appearance as an anti-vaxer, but all his behaviors are consistent with the anti-vaccine stance he espouses here and always has before he tried to run for office and accepted his current position.

I'm sure there are dumb people who consider antivaxxers as terrorists. Dummies gonna do dumb.

I haven't personally known or heard of any antivaxxers who are categorically against all forms of medication.

Thank you, Gorgo! Unlike some folks around here, you do bring the receipts!

Yes vaccines are medicine.

Interesting.

But a medicine you take *before* you are unwell?

What of, "first, do no harm", do we get a free pass?

Right. But they would be militant in their oppositon to vaccines specifically?

Getting mixed messages here. Different definitions of antivaxxer it seems.

And there's the rather more militant tone from the other side of the fence.

See, cannot just say "antivaxxer", have to define terms first.

Lots of terms have multiple definitions.

For example, the term 'libertarian' includes a spectrum ranging from 'minimal government interference in our daily lives' to 'all taxation is theft' to 'all government is always evil all the time.'

You're welcome.

I said gorgo likes vaccines.

From this you decided I am an "antivaxxer".

You define "antivaxxer" as "someone who thinks all vaccines are a bad idea".

Aside from your ridiculous non sequitur, your tone seems reasonable. Like it would not be such a bad thing to be an antivaxxer.

57 and gorgo have a different view. An agenda, perhaps. So we see the problem with calling me an antivaxxer without

A) knowing anything about what I think or do, and
B) paying due regard for how others might view "antivaxxers"

Is premature on your part.

Yes. But you just called me an antivaxxer (with your own definition in mind) without knowing anything about my views on vaccines.

Why did you do that?

I said gorgo likes vaccines.

From this you decided I am an "antivaxxer".

I believe you said two things: 'Gorgo likes vaccines and Gorgo doesn't get along with others.' Based on that I assumed (wrongly apparently, so I apologize) you found both those things to be bad.

You define "antivaxxer" as "someone who thinks all vaccines are a bad idea".

Aside from your ridiculous non sequitur, your tone seems reasonable. Like it would not be such a bad thing to be an antivaxxer.

Fair enough.

I was wrong to do that. My apologies.

That's ok. It is the "flat earth 9/11 covid is fake" label. I understand.

"Gorgo likes vaccines" is a, justified imo, dig at gorgo because I perceive he has a militant agenda against anybody he has decided is an "anti-vaxxer".

From that, and the conspiracy thing, it is only natural to assume I am against vaccines. I am neither for nor against vaccines.

What does strike me is that vaccines appear to have a unique status in medicine. Generally, medicine is taken to deal with specific symptoms. Whereas here we have a future proofing against some potential future illness.

Prophylactic medicines are not unusual or unique.

ITT Billy discovers that medicines can be prophylactic. Guess they didn't teach that any point along his way to getting a physics PhD.

Oh, speaking of knowing absolutely nothing about anything, can you tell me at what point along their journey astrophysicists learn about human perception of curvature yet? Much obliged.

by Gorgonian

Prophylactic medicines are not unusual or unique.

Give concrete examples.
