That seems like an insane rule. Ottawa took the penalty b/c Carolina illegally* gained an advantage and the penalty stands anyway?

It's definitely fair to call it like this. If someone 2 hand whacks a guy across the head and then spears him in the nuts, no penalty because they were offside?
The offside rule, like goalie interference, is so subjective. Their definition of control is so wishy washy.
Obviously there are 2 categories of penalty. Just like if a whistle is blown for a stoppage, you can't just rough or spear guys, so if that happens after the offside, it stands.
But non-physical penalties that are the result of a player illegally gaining an advantage like holding, hooking, etc. should absolutely be wiped out if the defending player takes that penalty b/c the offensive player has an illegally gained advantage.
really want to see corey perry's career end like nick kypreos', face down in a pool of his own blood, during a pre-season game. but i'll settle for any game, or situation.
You love Perry if he's on your team and hate him if he's not. Lots of guys fall in that bucket.
