USA Goes to War Against Iran
Time for a dedicated thread to the war.
How long will it last and what will be the probable outcome?
which is alot but its mostly money that would be spent anyway. for example this article claims 33% of vets in desert storm (a ground invasion) claimed lifetime disability trying to say that 33% of the 5500 people in this war would do the same. but it excluded what % of vets who don't go to a warzone claim lifetime disability which I happen to know is quite high and close to 33
This is good news, so the administration shouldn't need to come ask Congress for money for their new escapade?
Mahdi Mohammadi - an adviser to the Iranian parliament speaker - said the move by the US president is "certainly a ploy to buy time for a surprise strike". 3 western ships were attacked and seized in the last few hours . I would get on polymarket and bet on the ceasefire not holding much longer guys
I think both sides are posturing. There will be a deal possibly in the next two days.
Morgue would be better. His death will be good for America (and all of humanity), although it may be too late given the damage he has already caused.
Electing that monster will go down as the worst error the American electorate has ever made, and itβs not close.
Cheering for the death of an American President is disgusting.
If a person forgets for a moment about whether they support Trump or not, and just considers the current status of the standoff, I think most people would agree that Trump must be quite confused.Iran has already had a large dose of the US war machine, and Iran has been set back considerably. Iran has also faced several ultimatums that have involved doing X by Y time or face the
The fact that Iran is not a rational actor is exactly why they need to be wiped out. Trump probably has underestimated how out of touch with reality these people are. The good news is that the US can continue the blockade and it will eventually economically wipe out the country. There is already in fighting within the country. Civil war will break out soon.
Who are you referring to as "my side"? And whoever you think my side is, why should their opinion influence my opinion?
Anyone who disagrees with Trump is a lefty, and lefties should be ignored.
Kind of hard to do that when just yesterday, as well as many other days, he called it a war.
Trumpism is not burdened with many principles, but a very important one is that what Trump says does not reflect what he means, except when it does.
This is confusing to the rest of us, but that is the price of a socialist-marxist-DEI-liberal-green-CRT lifestyle and not enough diesel fumes in your diet.
This seems likely with the caveat that we don’t really know who is running Iran at the moment and how much power they actually possess. The new Supreme leader hasn’t actually made any public appearances and with information coming out of Iran being scarce we don’t have a very accurate picture.
I don't really think this is true. From participants in peace talks and officials making decisions, we know the leadership represents factions that were previously split, but they are clearly operating and making decisions together. We also know that those decisions mainly follow the views of Iranian hardliners, so they undoubtedly carry the most political clout currently.
I'd say Iran is less politically fractured on the government level now than it was 5 months ago. That could change if and when the guns get lowered, and it becomes easier to disagree with the hardliners.
It is, indeed. Anonymous keyboard warriors have more latitude to be disgusting than they have IRL.
Nothing disgusting about celebrating the death of a horrible and corrupt man. You do it all the time when your government kills a leader of a foreign country in the name of liberty.
Truth is, many can't wait for Trump to die and rot in hell and he deserves every bit of hate he gets.
Hopefully that day is soon.
I'd rather see Trump become the first US president in history to be tried at the Hague.
But they'd have to wait in line after his US federal charges are resumed. Recall that they were dropped, despite overwhelming evidence of guilt, due to his election.

I have never cheered for the death of a leader of a foreign country. I have also expressed my opposition to this war and have denounced Trump when he has celebrated the death of people.

I'm sure that's true. Very sad, but true. Very Trumpesque to think like that.
and he deserves every bit of hate he gets.
That is far less problematic than wishing people dead. Although hating people is also very Trumpesque.
Hopefully that day is soon.
Heaven or Hell is right around the corner for all of us.
Choose your enemies wisely, for you may become just like them.
Him dying solves a problem we can't solve another way. It's not personal.
Personally, I want him to suffer.

I don't typically cheer on deaths either, but I wouldn't push this principle to its most extreme. There have been a lot of horrible despots over the course of human history. I don't feel comfortable passing judgment on the emotions of people who suffered directly at the hands of those despots.
