2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
Lmao. DK is a wild place.
I emailed them and I got a canned response that didn’t answer anything lol.
Would be brutal if they throw out any drafts already completed
Jauan to Minn would be bad for everyone except Kyler.
I think JJ would be fine, but probably bad for Addison , which would suck for me
I thought he wanted a lot of money, seems like a bad use of resources for Minnesota
He’s probably starting to realize he’s not worth what he’s been asking for lol.
Solid list. I’m on board with most of those.
Only ones I still like are CMC, Kyren, Reed, Pittman, Rachaad, and maybe Tucker and Rodgers.
We have a $100K to first $3 SF contest!
Oh wow, I'm in trouble with slow drafts lol.
Very nice structure.
I'm good for 15-20
I'll be doing all 150 haha.
Ouch. Willis would have looked much better.
ADPs don’t seem too far off. Some of the lower QBs like Bryce, Ward, Dimes, etc. will move up.
I’ll definitely be cuffing at least one QB room on almost every team.
Obviously the uncertain guys can work like Penix/Tua, but even Purdy/Mac, Jayden/Mariota, etc will be in my strategy.
There are some backups I won’t be targeting. Something like Bryce/Pickett won’t be lol.
Probably also use SF to get exposure to guys like Price who will be a tough click in 1QB with where he is heading. Usually some arbitrage opportunities in SF compared to 1QB with nonQBs.
My strategy is going to be pretty simple with QBs in the SF.
2 guaranteed week 1 starters + 1 fringe guy (Tua/Penix, Cousins/Mendoza, Shedur/Watson)
On teams where I take 4 QBs, the 4th will either be a HC or a backup with upside (Fields, Taylen Green, AR, etc.)
How much 3 QB are you all doing in the 18 rounders? I was around 41% last year. With how much QBs are getting pulled up and the lack of secure late options, I'm probably cutting it down to around 20% or so.
I was probably near 80%+ last year, just looked and I’m at 7 out of 10 this year so far
Which is basically the same, but I would guess I drop to something like 50% of my teams being 3 qb. I am drafting a lot of elite qb so far so I was actually surprised I had so much
QB is going to be a tough one to gauge. I still plan to do some end of draft handcuffing with certain rooms in 1QB leagues to hit 3 QB. Especially early on where there is so much uncertainty at the end of drafts, anyways.
And even with the elites, you're not paying elite prices outside of Josh. So taking 3 QBs between rounds 5 and 13 doesn't feel terrible. I think I mostly want to avoid Geno, Brissett, Penix, Tua, Cousins, Mendoza, etc. Speaking of Mendoza, I think mixing him in is somewhat fine, but he's still too expensive. All of the other rookies we didn't expect to start week 1 were going in rounds 17-18. So he needs to fall some more.
I have been fascinated by Sam's QB room of Brock, Bryce, Shough last year on his BBM winning team with Shough not starting until week 8. Bryce was his only active QB from weeks 2-3 and 5-7. I'm being a bit results-oriented here, but I think it supports my idea of handcuffing with your last pick, given how often that pick is a zero anyways. Especially if the decision is between the handcuff and QB very likely not starting week 1.
The total points added to his regular season team from Shough was 50.2. Mac would have added 52.3. Even with Bryce having the same bye week as SF, Mac still added more points to the team. And if they didn't have the same bye week, Mac could have added even more.
Brock hit the lineup in all 3 playoff weeks.
ETA: Also, with the way we saw the Sidekick guys drafting QBs last season shows the value of the position. I'm interested to see what they'll be doing this season.
Just saw shaidy and pats show and seems like it’s another 3 qb heavy year for them as well although they drafted a 2qb team haha
Shaidy has a nice explanation around 30 min mark
Link?
One thing I'll be doing a decent amount of in the SF is making sure to get 2 QBs that are starting Week 1, and then for my 3rd (or 4th) QB using a lot of the rookies that are teams that probably won't be very good. Guys that might have a decent chance of being on the field in the playoffs.
Pat said he'll be doing a show every Tuesday called top guy Tuesday, where he drafts and takes the top SIM recommendation the entire draft.
