Flagg narrowly beats out Knueppel for ROY. Now that we have seen a full year, what do we think the ceiling is? I'm prepared to say that, within a year or two, he will be good enough to theoretically be the best player on a championship team. That's the ultimate litmus test for a #1 overall draft pick and puts him in rarefied air already. Will he ever be good enough to win an MVP over a healthy Wemby? I'm going to say no. He might win a couple of MVPs, but I don't think it will happen during a year when Wemby is healthy and in his prime.

detriot wut

Detroit probably the weakest 1 seed in nba history. Harris is a great 4th option. When he's your #2 your team does not have the talent to compete in the playoffs.

Hard to disagree. Orlando just won a game in which Wagner missed almost all the second half with an injury and Paolo and Jalen Suggs were a combined 5/31 from the field and 1/15 from three.

Cade has 24 TOs in the last three games. That's horrendous.

Detroit is like the Cavs with LeBron in 2007 but trying to play in 2026, pretty much no good 2way players

and Cade isn't Lebron

2014 Pacers, 2015 hawks and 2017 Celtics are only three I can think of as in the ballpark and all 3 of those made the conf finals. Actually one of the Lowry/Derozan teams was a 1 seed too.

2010s East was really something

maybe detroit shouldve traded for lauri

Probably so. Jazz much worse for not doing it.

Man this Minnesota denver game has some real chippiness going on. Mcdaniels really made this nuggets team mad lol. The nuggets and spurs would be a fun watch. Wemby, Fox and co. vs Jokic, Murray and co. The knock on nuggets is they don't play defense. Tonight they're playing some defense. The'yre putting guys on the court i never heard of but their playing their butts off. Especially Spencer Jones. He's the one i never heard of. Love his energy. Feels like he's the key to the new nuggets defense.

less than 17 hours until Hawks vs Knicks AT THE MECCA!

Flagg could be Pascal Siakam one day if he does his homework and listens to his mom and dad

The time to say this was like nine days ago. Who cares now

Orlando was just a tough upset pick to get excited about. Lost to the Celtics backups final day of the season in a game that they needed for homecourt in play-in. Then Philly beats them fairly comfortably without Embiid.

Maybe Orlando was willing to risk missing the playoffs to get Det over Boston? Guess we'll never know.

No they weren’t. They got to full health at the exact right time

Oh Embiid

I was being a little facetious about that but they did only play Bane 6 minutes of the first 42 in that final game vs the Celts.

If Celts are the 1 seed and Detroit is the 2, I think they may have had more of an urgency to make sure they won that game.

That’s not the part i was interested in lol

So the NBA is basically ending tanking? Atleast the most egregious forms of it. Sure there will be some 2nd-3rd order effects from this. Some of the rules seem kinda weird like can't have top 5 pick 3 straight years but overall I'd say pretty good job of just making teams being more competitive.

Usually don't care for tanking talk but this year definitely went way overboard and changes had to be made.

It's just going to be shitty for some team that's just really bad (and not tanking), and then getting pick 12.

the top 3 getting worse odds seems a little galaxy brain but it probably will be entertaining seeing these bad teams trying to avoid it down the stretch

NBA leadership has completely lost the plot at this point.

People will love it until some team like the clippers throw the play-in and end up with the tied best odds and nail the #1 pick

Sounds to me like they're just shifting which teams tank. The very bottom won't tank, but teams 10 to 20 have incentive to tank to get into 4 to 10. Why would you want to be a 7 through 10 seed in the playoffs?
