[extracted] New(?) 9-11 stuff
KSM got a plea deal. The guy who supposedly masterminded the 9/11 attacks is not getting the death penalty.

By your 'logic', the National Weather Service believes in a stationary Earth because they tell us the daily 'sunrise' and 'sunset' times for each city.
And lo, the National Weather Service leads Sunday prayers for the faithful. All hail the National Weather Service.
I ask again, what kind of bible literalist are you? Not a very consistent one it seems. Which means not at all. We never got to the end of the YEC professionally qualified bods. Not much to see there.
As pointed out already, which you failed to follow as per the miserable pathetic troll you are, the MM result does not discount the aether. It is Einstein's second postulate that does. I know this is news to you since you believe no "real" science has been done since the ancient Greeks, but science progresses. Maxwell lived in the 19th century. We've had a fair few developments in science since then.
I didn't say that MM discounted the aether. I said that according to mainstream science the aether doesn't exist. Try reading next time. Also, stop doing this annoying thing where you bring up theories from centuries ago and completely ignore the fact that these theories have been superseded. You're not fooling anybody except yourself.

Nice deflection, Skippy!
Your intellectual dishonesty is a thing to behold.
If you decide to post in good faith at some point, I'll happily join in. (Note well I have no expectation that this will actually ever happen, but I try to live in hope instead of despair.)

You dont know what science is. Nor theories.
You have proven this time and time again. Using words you have no clue of the meaning.
Go ahead, define science and scientific theory.

That’s not true according the standard model in its present form.

The weather referring to sunrise and sunset does not need a literal interpretation. Nobody is claiming that.
Whereas you are adamantly claiming literal bible interpretation. A "day" in the bible has to be interpreted literally as a modern 24 hour period. And Adam has to be interpreted as an individual human being etc etc so that the generations are limited to 6000 years.
Rather the bible, in any reasonable approach, ought not to be elevated above other scripture but to be understood comparatively, interpreted, cross referenced with history and myth etc. But if it must be the one truth then it is just that.
We see your literalism is arbitrary pick and choose. Let us consider the statement that the Sun stood still. By your reckoning (I have to assume this because it seems you dont do positive claims but accuse me of dishonest bad faith posting, go figure) you believe that Earth stopped spinning during this time. And presumably the Moon also stopped its rotation. You are in good company here with the great Velikovsky who said much the same. What of heliocentric "science"? The laws of gravity and inertia? It makes no sense to rigidly stick to a system you dont even believe in.
Name someone. Neutrinos weren’t proposed until well after people stopped believing in the aether.
I have my own definition of science ergo the earth is flat. QED, guys.

It is comments like
"People stopped believing in the aether"
that keeps 2p2 relegated to degen status. Who is People? What does People believe and not believe?
I am not vouching for the contents of this article. I have not read it. I found this with lol search. I cannot be bothered to fish out articles I have read that I would recommend.

You said smart people claimed something. I’m asking who. Of course nobody is expecting a flat earthier to be able to understand the standard model much less beyond e th standard model physics like you posted. You made a crazy claim and I wanted to see whst you are parroting or misunderstanding

Oh, you don't want to play my definition game? Earth is round, I winnnnnn!!!!!!!

The person who wrote the article of course. Who else? As i said there are others, both mainstream and less so. You would know this, if you had any idea. The only person who will be guilty of parroting is you, cue the inevitable recital of the latest dross from scientific american.
And no, I do not claim to have novel solutions to problems, nor claim to be a professional researcher but I am part of the scientific community whether you like it or not. So live with it. I am well versed in undergrad physics regardless of your pathetic little ad hom **** parade. I know exactly what the standard model is, and furthermore have the ability to discern BS, including aspects of the standard model.
This is all by the by. The point is that aether theories never went away.
Billy, I know you think I am a troll, and I probably am a troll, but can I just take this opportunity to mention that I do not think I have met a stupider person than you in my life. Not even Victor.

The "definition game" i.e. where grown ups define terms to discuss reasonably is very much what I am asking to do.
Of course, i do not expect you to be able to define physics. My point is made. Any attempt would cause a great deal of embarassment.
Physics is natural science. The pursuit of explanations as to the how and why of natural phenomena. Verification and refutation of hypotheses by experimental procedure. So you see you had no idea.

And through this verbal diarrhea, we have demonstrated that any science done in the last 150 years is invalid, and the Earth is in fact flat. Thank you for this insight, professor. Perhaps during the next lesson we could investigate gravity by holding a large rock over your head and letting it go. After all, gravity is made up too.
Self confessed probable troll goes on ad hom rampage to satisfy himself.

No, "day" does not have to be interpreted as a literal 24-hour period. The Hebrew word yom is translated 'day' in English. It can mean a literally 24-hour period or it can refer to an unspecified period of time. Context typically determines its meaning, and as such it usually indicates a 24-hour day.
And Adam has to be interpreted as an individual human being etc etc so that the generations are limited to 6000 years.
While I myself agree with the 6,000 years interpretation, many of my brethren do not. One can both believe in Adam being a literal person and the universe being billions of years old (it's called the 'Gap Theory').
Rather the bible, in any reasonable approach, ought not to be elevated above other scripture but to be understood comparatively, interpreted, cross referenced with history and myth etc. But if it must be the one truth then it is just that.
Agreed.

The God powerful enough to create the laws of gravity and inertia is also obviously powerful enough to suspend those laws as well. Stuff like that are called 'miracles.'
Note well I have not categorically dismissed the possibility of geocentrism. I have a good friend who presented a paper he wrote at a meeting of Christian philosophers defending a geocentric cosmology. And in his paper Michaelson-Morley is a major player in his argument.

Not at all. 'The branch of science that deals with the properties of matter and energy, in so far as they are not dealt with by chemistry and biology; the science whose subject matter includes mechanics, heat, light and other radiation, sound, electricity, magnetism, and the structure of atoms. Also the physical properties and phenomena of a thing.' -- Shorter OED, 1993, Vol.II, p.2197.

That is the pre-18th century definition, which, in modern terms, does not distinguish physics from chemistry, biology or some aspects of astronomy. The OED dates that usage to the early 15th century and marks it 'Hist.', that is, historical.
