The NHL Thread
For the 5 of us who post NHL stuff, here you go. Officially the season starts Tuesday October 11, although there were tw
They're childhood friends who traveled to the 4 Nations, which became a story and gave them notoriety. Then they traveled to the Olympics. And tonight they came to Raleigh and sounded the siren to start the game.
I also just found a story where they were in the booth for a game earlier in the season with the local announcers.
oic, thanks for that 👍
Let's goooooo!
We got away with one there.
taylor hall, what a winner
If Canes sweep, habs/sabres will only be thru 2 games.
The schedule is pretty ****ed if we sweep. That’d happen on 5/9. If Buf/Mtl play to 7, that’d end on 5/18.
hughes and faber are a menace. nate schmidt has had a bizarre career. worst dmen are all dudes i don't really know, so i guess that makes sense.
Arber Xhekaj was legit #1 (offense or defense) for xGF% after 4 games, which is insane. Had a meh game 5 and 6 and then was dropped last game instead of Struble for some reason when Dobson came back. I feel like that decision was at least part of the reason that the Habs played smaller in game 7 and looked like crap.
Some of the #s on how close Habs/Ning series was are also pretty crazy. Going into game 7 they'd scored the same amount of goals in the series and the series was either tied or a 1-goal lead for 99% of it.
Habs/Sabres season series was also crazy close. I'm not sure my Covid-addled heart can handle another tight 7 game series, so just want to pre-emptively let you all know it's been a pleasure, just in case.

Yikes Steve Simmons at the press conference on the GM of Toronto
Still trying to figure out all the controversy with his time at Arizona
That was amazing LOL!
Great we have another Treviling in the fact no other gms like him so trades will still be impossible.
I am fine with Sundin but will see how that goes.
I'll be delighted if the Leafs drop a spot in the lottery tonight(?) and the Bruins get the sixth pick, but having the Leafs' unprotected 1st with that management at the helm could also be a fun ride. Seems like an explosive situation. Though I'm still not sure whether the Bruins or Flyers would get the 2027 pick.

Oh wow doing the deep dive into this guys past not a resume I would be proud of.
I get maybe hiring Matts but both baffles me

yeah i'd just take the pick now. could see the laffs being mid next season, but i'd be pretty surprised if they were completely horrible again, even if they are horribly managed
(plus they were outright tanking at the end of this season in an effort to retain their pick)
**** off
Muahahaha, everyone got's a price for the richest team in the league.
Unreal lotto
another 69 has hit the playoffs...
They might go D
By the way the other news is Matthews has not commited to returning to the Leafs next season as he wants to see improvements in the roster first.
he's under contract until 2028
is he gonna retire and focus on rebuilding his hairline instead?
Worst case for the Flames. Still think if they weren't picking 1st or 2nd it doesn't make a difference for them anyway, but still terrible luck.
Quite possibly be the most convoluted thing I've ever watched.
Grats Phil.
Note to self take some futures shares of the Sharks next season.
