THE Official 2024 PGA Tour Season Thread
I don't have a fancy OP or anything. But now that we are in 2024, and are back to calendar schedules instead of the reac
a tip of the cap to Matt McCarty
first round in the SG Era that a player has made three putts over 50' in a round
220' 1" in made putts today
wild
Fitz2 parlaying the Zurich into a Signature Event win would be too good.
dude has had game for a while
early west coast weekend mornings are often spent watching DP tour broadcasts while sipping coffee after a pre-dawn dog walking
several players on that tour have serious game and are just waiting for that breakout moment
I've bet on him on the DP too many times to count. He should've been playing Tour events, but they value the KFT over the DP. I'm not surprised he's doing well, but he won't win tomorrow. Par 5 play is too good compared to how much he usually sucks at them in Europe.
sure, wasn't gassing him up to win
just a subtle head nod to what potential entertainment he can bring to the course
please bomb a couple of putts or sandy par from a shortsided bunker
I wast h a decent amount of DP Tour, and don’t remember seeing the name Yurav Premlall.
he has 22 birdies and one bogey over his last 42 holes and leads by 9 with 12 to play
Won by 14. Wow.
I’ve not heard of him either.
That's a Cinderella story for sure.
this would explain why i haven't heard of Yurav Premlall until this morning

T72 after a first round 70, which was going great at -5 until he blew up the last two holes
then proceeds to go 64-63-63 (the 63s each a course record) with 28 birdies and 2 bogeys (one in each round of the course records). not one single eagle, although i did see him hole a chip earlier today
33 birdies
35 pars
3 bogies
1 double
41 FIR (73.2% including 13/14 final round, not nervous at all)
58 GIR (80.5%)
102 putts (1.42 per hole)
missed Tigers record of 15 strokes better than the field in your first pro win by one, also one short of SJ Im's tournament birdie record
how many deviations above expectation was this really

He's obviously a good golfer and has a top 20 in a major. But I don't think he's some stick who just hasn't had the opportunity to play on PGAT yet. He's on a good run, but having a rich older brother bank roll you on mini tours is big advantage to get to where he's at.
I was cheering for Ricky so close

Add Alex to the list of golfers you hate.
Also he hasn't really played on the mini tours. Went from college to basically the Euro tour. He had to play a few lower tiered events initially, but he isn't some struggling golfer that finally found his stride.

He played the Canadian tour and Challange tour for a year, then got invites to the DP tour and performed well in those chances.
He's been very opportunistic when he gets chances for sure and good on him for doing that and cashing in. But there's a 0% chance he's playing in these signature events without being Matt's brother. If that's unfair then maybe he should have went the KFT route and earned his card rather than teaming up with his elite brother to win a shitty PGAT event.
Of course he's only in these events because of that, but he's made the most of his opportunities, and he still had to play well with his brother to win that event.
Also, I don't think it's unfair. You were the one to seemingly have an issue with it.
makes sense to play the Euro tour after college because that's where he's from and travel around europe is mostly cheaper than the us.
also would be far from the first aspiring pro to get sponsor exemptions from wealthy relatives
Never realized the Reitan guy that won is from a billionaire family . 8.9 billion to be exact
That's a lot of billions to be exact on.
Reitan simply bought all that ball speed, and paired with a short game coach the rest is history
Yellamaruju is in the field for the PGA
