Live 2-5 PLO with AQJT nut spades on Ac9s8c
Played some live PLO for the first time in a long time (Mohegan on a Saturday afternoon), was shocked at how terrible almost everyone played. It's like solvers never happened.
Had a few spots where I wasn't sure if I should raise/call/fold and raising would have been the nuts every time. So #humblebrag I figured I should ask if I should gamble more:
V1: Is auto raising 15-35 like 80% of the hands, and betting/stacking off post whenever he's got a shot. Game is kind of running around him.
Stupid 4-5 limps
H in SB with AsQJsT limps
V1 in BB with $150ish makes it $30
At least 4 calls
H has $800 isn't sure if he should backraise or call? Decides to call (maybe good?)
5 ways to:
Flop: Ac9s8c (one spade)
H checks
BB pots all in.
Maybe one fold?
H isn't sure if he should raise or call? Decides to call (maybe bad?)
Turn Ac9s8c Qh
H shoves, and everyone else folds.
V1 had KKcxxc and doesn't hit.

Max raise is 210 and any coldcaller would have position and maybe significant depth for the side pot. I can think of better spots when not double suited but I don't hate it either.
Otoh, minclick 80 pre seems appropriately threatening because bb 150 jam reopens action. Decide what to do based on who's in the pot once it gets back to you.
If this hand isn’t good enough to ISO might as well drive home.
You can 3b this hand as well.
Can lead or XR this flop
You can’t play this hand wrong but you might have found the way to play it the least profitably lol
I’m relatively new to PLO but I’m interested in the comments on this hand.
I would have raised preflop, but as played why check/raise flop? What are we hoping happens that’s good for us?
(When I say I am relatively new I mean I expect the other posters in this thread are more experienced than I am. I do have some amount of experience playing though, especially lately. I’m trying to learn more and get better.)
We’re sitting in the best seat, now limp raise pre. If you trust him to shove make it 90 so we can 5b when he 4b jams. Otherwise pot it and stack off with top pair or a draw post.
As played on the flop if we just had a wrap we want to call and keep everyone in. Here, however, we can beat bb in the main and can make hands with good equity fold, so I think crai is pretty good here.
Ugh, realized I said "5 ways" to the flop ... but that didn't include me. Maybe doesn't change much, although pot size esp. after flop calls is bigger than expected.
I was intentionally trying to play weak preflop, so I wouldn't be trying to win a 2k+ pot with a slight edge ... as when I've played 2-5 live previously one of the problems I've run into is pushing 55-60% equity preflop against people who aren't folding almost anything, and then losing 150bb+.
Here I thought about the big backraise preflop and rejected it because I wasn't sure how many folds it would get. Never thought about making it 80 though (pretty sure BB would raise a bunch to flip, and def. with this hand), that kind of play is so much easier to see online but I should still have thought about it.
On the flop my hand seemed great, and would mostly be happy to flip vs. anyone ... but I shied away from x/r because I thought it was possible we'd get 2-3 calls often enough, where someone has a random flush draw and someone has random two pair or whatever.
I thought we'd have enough visibility on turns too, although I probably didn't think enough about how much money was in the pot already (my turn shove was roughly 3/4 pot).
Thanks for the feedback, I'll very likely play again soon ... so hopefully will have some more hands to post where I win 😉
