It's minimal for Perkins.

Based solely on a Google search, Perkins reportedly has a net worth of between $50 and $100 million. While taking an $800,000 hit on this bet may not be life changing for Perkins, I do think a 1% to 2% loss of net worth on something as stupid as this bet was, is more than minimal. Generally, wealthy people care about money. That's the reason most are wealthy in the first place (only counting self-made wealth). Perkins was at one time a successful hedge fund manager, so at some point he must have been smart with his money. So either, a) he is worth substantially more than $50 to $100 million, or b) he is truly trying to "Die With Zero".

Those net worth searches are meaningless.

He punts crazy money in poker without a care in the world. We see a lot of guys on these streams and shows who lose a lot of money for a few months and are never heard from again. Perkins has been at it for 15 or so years.

He had a hand a few months ago on the Lodge Stream where he shoved river, his opponent tanked for a few mins and he had a flight to catch. Finally he told them if he's called turn his hand over and push the pot to the winner. The pot was for several hundred K.

Doesn't strike me as a guy 800k matters to much.

I'm sure you are right. LOL. But I wonder, what would your net worth have to be before it did matter to you?

His net worth was about 200 million about ten years ago.

not his first 800k buy-out then 🙂

Glad to see him get healthy but the smart money says in 5 years he puts it all back on.

5 years is way too optimistic. Less than a year is more realistic.

It's pretty easy for an obese person to drop a lot of weight one time. They almost always gain most or more back.

Check out the show "The Biggest Loser", those obese people dropped 100s of lbs and almost all of them gained it back.

Obviously not a huge sample size and it's only been a couple of years since people started taking them but I don't know a single person who gained the weight back if they stayed on their GLP-1 medication.

Shaun got his start 24 tabling 180 man sit and gos on Pokerstars.

If you have the discipline to win and get good at that, not eating for a year and picking up 900k, was always going to be a walk in the park for him.

Those two things aren't even remotely comparable. A lot of obesity is caused by anxiety, addiction, genetics and psychological issues.

Shaun Deeb is none of these things. He's very young and arrogant.

Shaun Deeb is none of these things. He's very young and arrogant.

If that was true he wouldn't have been a fat slob for so long. Its called greed and lazyness. If you think a life time of that vanishes over a prop bet you are lol.

LOL @ 24 table 18hour day grinding in 2005 requiring discipline of the same kind that losing weight does. It required the ability to mindlessly and slovenly sit in your chair 18 hours a day repeating the same decisions ad infinitum.

Perkins was still favored to win the bet so its really baffling why he decided to gift Deeb the money.

by Maximus122

Shaun has a wife and a son, so he's obviously going to win this bet.

Ehhh no Shaun Deeb won the bet no contest, just like I said he would 9 months ago.

You predicted 9 months ago, perkins would fold and hand over the cash when deeb was only at 24% bf?

Did Deeb ever make it to 17%?

The difference between a good diet and a bad diet is...
If you drink alcohol, or not.

what about ozempic? easy af with that.

I’d be surprised. Perkins folded the winner on the turn.

Looks 20%+ easily - https://x.com/Table1Vegas/status/1802049...

Deeb has been on PokerGo No Gamble, with Hellmuth/Keating/Dwan

He's enormous, like as big as he ever was. It's really none of anyone's business I guess, but because his loss was so public... I mean lol
like 1.5-2 years he's gained 100lbs?

ya its not that hard to gain weight

Fat and a douche. Both signal a complete lack of emotional self-control and deep unhappiness. Who does he think he's kidding?

Well if he lost 100lbs+ to hit his goal and only touched that weight for a few days/weeks and then started falling back in old habits that's exactly what I would expect to happen

The longer you spend at a certain weight and implementing the habits that will keep you there or continue getting in better shape the more likely anyone is to sustain it. There shorter the time the less the habits are embodied into your nervous system

And if someone has nearly a lifetime of poor eating/exercise habits, 1 year of having good ones is a good start but it will take a lot of effort to maintain and keep going against the habits you've created almost your entire life

Really the bet, for Deeb's own sake should have probably been that he needs to hit 17% BF and then maintain it for 1 year getting retested for it every quarter. This would have built the habits in him that would be much more likely to keep most of the weight off or get in even better shape and maintain

It's pretty rare to meet people with complete emotional self control across the board. Most people are able to control themselves in certain aspects of life then leak it out in others, often heavily

17% is way leaner than almost everybody thinks it is. People who have actually done dexa scans know.
