[WSOP.com Nevada] Unofficial thread
Since WSOP locked their thread, why can't we have our own?
I mentioned this a while back but can someone explain how the rake at 20NL and below is beatable? If my math is correct they take 1c for every 18c in the pot up to a max of $3 at 20NL. So if you buy in for $20 and play an all in pot they will rake $2.22 which is about 11bb. If you have a bigger stack and are all in vs another big stack they will rake 15bb(max at this level).
Yes, this seems pretty standard according to this rake comparison site: www.primedope.com/online-poker-rake-comparison-rake-calculator/
The rake has always been egregious at microstakes, this is not a new thing, people literally refer to them as a "rake trap", because unless you are already a good player or just run like god, you are never going to climb out of them. This is by design, poker sites don't benefit from having large amounts of poker enthusiasts being able to climb out of micros, and start crushing fish at the mid-high stakes games, while simultaneously making less in rake at the micros. Micros are for fun, and for doing a little bit of learning at most. If you want to play in games where you can actually make a reasonable amount of profit, then just move up to 100nl or higher. And if you really want to, it actually is possible to climb out of micros on WSOP, because the games are very soft, and you can get pretty solid rakeback if you put in a lot of volume. But again, in order to do that, you need to be a good, studied player, and you need to play a lot of volume and know how to game select.

Thanks for the response. All makes sense

First I wanted to thank you and others for your Vegas poker room recommendations. I ended up at the Aria and other than the "office chairs" the room was great. I ended up losing my buy in (my own fault) but had a great time. Thanks for the detailed run-down.
I'll give my 2 cents on the rake topic. I can already tell you put a lot of analysis into the rake structure at 20NL. I approach poker with a bit more of a gut feeling so my take may be flawed. At any rate, I agree the rake is super high down there. I've ended up at those stakes after blowing my BR at 50NL and 100NL and I still think it's profitable because people really are just punting off all the time. If you just play pretty vanilla it's hard to lose. I think my $ hourly might even be higher there than the higher stakes just cuz I don't try so many stupid bluffs and non standard plays. But I play for fun so that makes it interesting for me.
Curious why you are so interested in 20NL. Is that where you mostly play? I don't know your screen name. good lucky out there. 😀

Well I mainly play live poker but have been playing more online lately, enough to try and approach it with a plan for improving/making money/moving up in stakes etc. But I've been breakeven for quite a while so while the most likely explanation is that I am just not good enough, I want to also make sure I'm playing a game that is beatable to begin with. I was also playing too many tables which was a problem. My screenname is PartyRy

Haven't played much NL20, but I can say that NL50 is beatable and I imagine the higher win-rate in the softer games would outweigh the rake difference. You might have to adjust your preflop strategy to account for how high the rake is though, and the other thing would be to make sure you're taking advantage of top up bonuses and the site's rakeback.
Anyone noticed the changes in the loyalty bonus program?
Yes, time duration in order to complete immediate bonuses and tournament tickets has been changed to 14 days.
Anyone know when the games start filling up as a result of wsop traffic? PLO4 still comepltely dead most of the time and PLO6 still not exactly much better
I am curious when they will run the sattys for live events daily instead of just main event sattys on weekends.
Anyone else not able to log in?
Unable to log in as well.
It's really amazing how lazy they are. They used to start running them in February, now they will roll them out a day before the event starts.
Looks like they are out now, there’s a $33 satty to the employee event in the lobby.
No clue how it works though, if I win a seat and I am not an employee? Assume they give $T if that is the case.

Uhm... maybe don't play if you're not a casino employee?
Anyone else notice that the Caesars tier credits no longer earn comped rooms at increments of 5k anymore? Or am I just an anomaly? That was a nice perk that I used pretty often.

I stopped getting them too. They just keep taking benefits away. Just like the 4 free drinks/day for Diamond used to include Starbucks. Now, it's only for Seven Stars. Smh.
Is there a way to sweat tables without physically being in NV/NJ/PA/MI?
GreatDane14 slowrolling anyone else regularly or am I the lucky one?
Same, one of those deals where making customers unhappy can't be worth it.
