In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there a
Meh, this is all noise. The real reason the judicial jury system is failing in the West is because of demographic change and increasing tribal sectarianism. To quote Lee Kwan You:
Do you imagine, to use your term, that there is more "tribal sectarianism" in Mississippi in 2026 than there was in 1966? LOL if so.

Yes. There was tribal sectarianism in Mississippi in 1966, and it was a problem. And clearly guilty people got off because of it. In law school, did they bring up how thing worked in the Deep South back then as an example of the law system working correctly? We both know the answer to that question is an emphatic no.
Now we are speed running taking the dynamics that existed in that milieu to the entire Western world, and actually defending it for "equity" reasons (as long as it is perceived as benefiting non whites), with similar predictable poor results.
The funniest thing is liberals, especially liberal attorneys, actually know all of this already.
Which is why when doing jury selection, the most important decision is manipulating the jury pool by “tribal” affiliation, so you can maximize this predictable corruption to your desired ends.
We are all just pretending we don’t understand the quiet part that Lee said out loud.
And we are the dog in the cartoon declaring everything is fine as the house burns down.

Your opinion that the jury system is suffering because of an increase in "tribal sectarianism" is probably wrong and certainly is not obviously correct. That was my point. I obviously wasn't defending how the jury system worked in practice in Mississippe in 1966.
If we're worried about guilty people getting off then then those who can afford expensive lawyers should be the biggest concern.
Beyond that I don't think your point have much to do with jury nullification. When the juries are biased/ prejudiced/etc then that will tend to manifest in whether they decide the case was proven or not. Jury nullification is a largely different beast and provides a vital protection.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche on Tuesday wouldn’t rule out the possibility that people who carried out violence during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol will be considered for payouts from a new $1.776 billion fund to pay individuals who believe they were targeted politically.
Unbelievable. Wait, I take that back. It's pretty believable.

However, a one-page document posted on the DOJ website early Tuesday includes a sweeping release under which the IRS is “forever barred and precluded” from pursuing “examinations” of Trump, “related or affiliated individuals,” and related trusts and businesses.
Any bets on this going to SC and getting overturned?

Federal agents can’t make arrests in N.Y. immigration courts, judge rules
The decision halts a Trump administration practice that enabled agents to take into custody individuals who follow requirements to appear before immigration judges.
Unbelievable. Wait, I take that back. It's pretty believable.
So, it appears as if his family and business associates never have to pay taxes again?

This all stems from someone illegally releasing Trump's tax return though it baffles me that he can sue the IRS and he ends up being the plaintiff and prosecution .
Just a crazy settlement that makes no sense
If we imagine a venn diagram, then I am guessing that almost the entire circle of people people saying he is innocent fits into the circle of people who says he is a hero. Meaning the vast majority of them say he is innocent because they don't think he should be punished. You might find some conspiracy theorists on the outside, who have constructed scenarios where he is somehow
that makes sense. maybe its incorrect but its like the question did the bear **** in the woods ? we didn't see it **** but we saw bear poop in the forest where it lives type of thing.
shkreli says he has two really good lawyers maybe the best he can absolutely get and he things they still wont win whcih also makes sense

It makes a ton of sense. This grifter wants unchecked grifting for everyone in his circle.

It only applies to returns that were filed as of the date of the agreement. It isn't forward looking. I doubt a forward looking agreement would even be enforceable.
Massie goes down to Gallrein
But they lost in a democratic process . Here in Canada Justin Trudeau just kicked them out of the party and they were done
It shows how much power that Trump still has which is sad and these folks vote with Trump 90% of the time
I'm sure the Dems will attempt the same thing with Letterman
Cornyn spent like 20M+ on ads saying how much he supports Trump and votes with him 99% of the time, then Trump endorsed Paxton and Cornyn is still running the same ads and put out a statement saying he still loves Trump.
Just amazing

If Paxton wins the Democrat has a good chance at taking Texas
When autocracies purge experienced leaders and experts,
the vacuum is mostly likely to be filled with mediocrity.
Many of the lawyers who are now serving under acting Attorney General
Todd Blanche have little to no courtroom experience under their belts
With an unprecedented spate of grand jury rejections and judicial admonishments,
the DOJ’s credibility has eroded to the point that courts should no longer trust
the men and women who are meant to speak on behalf of the United States at trials.
