Admittedly I spend way too much time on Twitter but the amount of discourse from all sides on refs and this guy flopping and cutting isolated clips with the right angle to prove that "this player is so dirty/this player is a flopper" has gotten really tiring for me - there is an awesome series with awful player and most of the content I see is about referees

But there is also a culture in the NBA playoffs of players, coaches, and media people working the refs between games in the hopes of influencing the officiating of the next game. The most common form of this behavior is going on and on about how Team X shot more free throws than Team Y, the implication of course being that those questions will get louder if the same thing happens next game. I think that culture fuels some of the social media dumbassery.

Even the pre-Twitter/X days of the commentators barely trying to subtly induce that "lots of contact, but no fouls called" when it is their team taking the punishment to the basket, while remaining numb when it happens with the opposite team, has more to do with tribalism/the human nature of going for the home team, imho.
