WSOP returning to ESPN
You would have to be crazy as a foreigner to go to the US if you need a visa/special papers to enter, if you weren't 100% sure you could reenter 3 weeks later for the ft.
The US isn't the easiest to get in, especially latelly.
Ya this part of it is pretty hilarious to me in the current climate
‘I need to come back in 3 weeks so I can take 10 million dollars home’
Gl with that
But more seriously, ESPN seems to be a slowly dying medium tbh. We’re at a point where it’s less of a big deal than if Netflix took it over. Not seeing the value here anymore

Can't disagree with that last point. Although I mentioned above that the old ESPN and WPT broadcasts were amazing for poker, I also have not had a subscription to ESPN for about 12-13 years now. For me to watch ESPN for just a few days of content right now would require me to either A) Subscribe to ESPN for a month B) Pay for daily passes on SlingTV which are around $5 per day or C) Watch a cracked stream online.
ESPN isn't what it used to be. Their footprint in the mid-late 2000s was tremendous - almost every cable household had ESPN. It's not like that anymore.
Good to hear!
Not everyone is rich like you, $1MM is dramatically life changing money for 80%+ of Americans
If that’s the case then there’s probably 1 million better ways for you to spend a month than chasing a pipe dream poker tournament. But hey, poker continues to exist because of people like that. So cheers.
1 mil is a lot but can easily be gone in a year and won’t last a lifetime. It’s an unpopular opinion but I’d prefer either a normal format or the November nine.
Yeah, I like the break. It's still in the summer, which is a lot easier for many people to take time off during than Oct/Nov. But it's long enough that people can make plans to have friends and family attend the final table.

I think that last sentence is key. We’re talking about it being difficult for foreigners to come back but we’re ignoring that it’s really hard for a person to get friends and family to fly in from a long distance on short notice. If I was on the FT bubble in an event like this with a 1 day window it would be very difficult to get my wife to Vegas with kids, dogs, her work, etc.
So yeah, there’s always going to be a negative impact from decisions like these but I believe the positives outweigh the negatives for sure. I love it.
I like it and I like the delay!
But where do we watch day to day coverage for all the events Didn't PokerGo and WSOP part ways Will non-Main events be broadcast on ESPN
I am also curious if there will be streaming of the 'minor' events.
I asked PokerGo what they planned on showing ... my question ->
I am trying to decide if I should renew or cancel my subscription. Is there a schedule of what WSOP events that will be broadcast? or does it depend on who is in final table?
It seems most of what I watch is also live on youtube.
A Customer Service agent response ->
WSOP streams will not be available on PokerGO this summer. That said, PokerGO continues to deliver a full slate of premium poker programming throughout the year, including the new season of High Stakes Poker premiering Monday, May 25th, with additional new airings of No Gamble, No Future and High Stakes Poker planned for later this year.
Subscribers can also look forward to a new season of the National Heads-Up Poker Championship in late summer/early fall, plus marquee PGT events including the Poker Masters, Super High Roller Bowl, and PGT Championship.
it looks like all of the series will be free on the WSOP channel if I am understanding it correctly, I believe PokerGo is still involved on the production side but might not be the only place hosting it this summer or hosting it at all. I hear there is another announcement coming soon that should be a very nice addition to the content schedule. Excited for the ESPN/Main Event p
Chicago ****in' Joey! the man, the myth, the LEGEND!
great news!
Do we have a schedule yet?
It would appear that all WSOP content has been scrubbed from PokerGO's platform.
I can't find it in on the site and all the past WSOP events from my watch list are gone.
I wonder if their business will survive without this license.
So where are these fantastic broadcasts? I don't see anything under WSOP on Youtube. I thought they were supposed to broadcast every day?

They are on there, starts today. But schedule doesn’t look good if you like the smaller buyin big field tournaments or mixed games.
25K HU, 10K NLhe, 25k nlhe. It’s just going to be stuff that most have tired off, high roller crew
Pretty low rent option to have to pull up Youtube to watch this stuff. PokerGo was a nightly event to look forward to, this feels like t-e-m-u WSOP coverage.
Also not broadcasting final tables of events such as the Colossus and the like is a big whiff, if my understanding is correct. Most want to see the next Moneymaker (like Was last year) not Haxton's bulging eyes during another 10-min tank.
I'm going to bink the main on ESPN this summer and go down in history as one of the all time greats. its going to be a great summer!
I knew the minute the stream started that PokerGo was still leading this.
Because at 8PM CST time they told us it would start in 40 minutes
PokerGo is decent once they actually start the stream,
but far too often, they would delay the start for literally hours
We batted around whether or not that was PokerGo's fault (it was and still is their fault) a lot in previous years.
But I knew the minute the "start" was actually 45 minutes later, PokerGo is still at the helm.
it was infuriating to be excited all day long while at work during the day to "know" a pokergo stream was scheduled to start at like 6PM CST and then find out an hour or so before that theyre pushing it to like 8 or 9PM. "oh but they dont know when the final table it going to happen!" Really? They stream when there are literally 1000 main event tables, why do they have to wait for the FINAL table? Every one of us would watch the final TWO tables as much as the final one table.
PokerGo just sucks at all things until the stream actually starts. Then it's really good

Anyone know if PokerGO plans to add back the old WSOP events? I messaged them asking about it days ago and they haven’t responded. Would be a bummer if there was now no way to watch prior WSOP years.

lol still rambling on about PokerGo even though it appears that things were clearly better when they were completely in control of the schedule. We might need a Cary Katz “Miss Me Yet? meme.
But again it’s a west coast series and no one should get uppity until they see the start times of other events such as Day 2 of nlhe high rollers. HU is its own animal.

Have you checked YouTube? The PokerGo o;der WSOP stuff I was watching is also there.
It doesn’t differ much but it seems like an awkward amount of time. People seem to be excited for it, I hope it works out well.
Yeah, the 20-day break seems kind of weird. I got the purpose for the November Nine idea: it was designed to allow the weekly telecasts to catch up to real time.
When the delay went away, I did miss one thing about the N9: players having friends and family come over and join the rail made the FT much more of an event. However, that same thing could be achieved by having a week-long pause.

I know others asked you to drop the topic, so apologies for raising it one more time. But FWIW, I'd say you're both kind of right. Due to several circumstances that all happened at roughly the same time, my liquid net worth (i.e. not counting my house) broke the $1 million mark last summer.
DBFan is right that it could easily be gone really fast if I squandered it. But Dilly is also right that such an amount is life-changing in that you no longer have to sweat the costs that life often presents. For example, most of my friends my age have kids in college right now. Some of them are feeling that strain. An extra milly means a family could have two kids at USC, and both would graduate in the black. That's pretty huge.
Reminds me of a line in Forrest Gump, something like "Lt. Dan said we don't have to worry about money anymore. And I said, that's good... one less thing!" That's about what an extra $1 million would do for most people. No more but also no less.
