Ongoing VP TR, PART 2!
Hi all, apparently my previous thread may have gotten so long that it's causing issues for the website. So, here is a ne
I wasn't going to ask about GLPs. I'm more curious about TDB vs DDB... or what variations you like?
TDB only. Can't play DDB after TDB- 800 vs 2000 for 4 2s w/kicker or 2000 vs 4000 for 4AWAK... no thanks. I think I'd just go on tilt.
hmm, interesting re the is there any less energy in the gym, given the lower cal intake?
I've heard/read that a few times re the addictions & tried to get my ex to try. Great that it's working for you
Definitely less energy- consuming ENOUGH calories is hard now.
Been on Mounjaro myself and wow it is an amazing drug. Lost 44kg in like 18 months. I could not agree more with you on what you have said about it filling you up so fast. It even reversed my type 2
Those are just ridiculous numbers. Well done! And yeah, that's why I said obesity and diabetes are basically the same thing- they go hand in hand.
Housekeeper, and a nanny? Or are they the same? Is the nanny even still in the picture? I remember him being discussed on prior trip reports. Interesting that both your housekeeper and nanny are/were guys.
Same dude as always. I think I just said housekeeper bc he functions more like that now that my oldest has been driving for over a year haha. They haven't needed a "nanny" for years now. He'll feature in my July TR when we take our annual family trip.
my buddy who has a live in nanny says it's the best decision of his life - never saw a happier family either
my buddy who has a live in nanny says it's the best decision of his life - never saw a happier family either
He's certainly enhanced our lives. He's never been live in but always dependable. I don't know if we could handle live in- he's been like a member of the family for so long, we get along/argue like family too. Us all having our own space at the end of the day is a good thing lol
Day 2
I wake up at the ungodly hr of 4am. I figure I survived day 1, and I don't have anything on the agenda until the slot tournament in the evening, so I can always take a nap. I'm sure I'll need one.

Notable ONLY bc I got dealt 4AWAK on the redeal! My lord I haven't been dealt this hand in 3 years.

This really should count as dealt. I'm sure if I'm playing single line I never would have seen this.
Move to hi limit and UX.

Gonna need a multiplier on 4AWAK pretty soon here...
I'm stuck about 5k when I decide to give spin a try. Over the last few months I have been positively abused by spin. Draw after draw that doesn't come in. It's been frustration city, but so has VP in general.

Finally!

LOL hold 2 to a royal. Whatever I'll take it!

Beautiful! 15 lines played = 4 way hit here.
At my height I was up 15k for this AM session. Kept playing and hoping for more magic, but at some point the machine just turned. I even stepped down but to no avail. I decide to quit with a measly 6k win (felt like more bc I was stuck 5k before this run). Still, great result overall. I'm trying the Casa Playa breakfast- never had it before and didn't even know it was an option until recently!

I got the chicken enchilada. Not bad, I'd say 7/10. Good flavor but too much sauce. I'd be fine with 1/2 the sauce. The price was definitely reasonable too. I'll be back.
After breakfast, I decide to give Encore craps a try for the first time this trip. Good crew, and again in totally atypical fashion I start off winner right away! 3/3 on craps sessions so far where I'm not trying to claw my way out of a hole. Not nearly as good of a session as the other two, but still a winner.

In for 4, out for 5.7.
I head upstairs to take a nap. Post nap, I elect to kill some time and do something I don't think I've EVER done at the Wynn- take advantage of the whirlpool tub.

Managed to kill a whole 15 min here!
After I get cleaned up, it's time for the afternoon session. I don't have to register for the slot tourney until 5pm.

Only pic from this session. It was horrible, I had to go to the room to get more money and take a break.
Think I lost 7k that session. Just kept switching machines, etc. Nothing worked. I'm basically even for the day.

REALLY could use some rungood now!
I head to registration a little early.

So I'm playing at 6pm. I've got about an hr. I figure I'll head back and grab a light dinner just before my rounds. That means, time to head to the dice tables at Encore. I open with a loser- guess that streak had to be broken at some point. Every roll is mediocre- I'm not winning, but not losing much either. I tell the crew I literally have one goal this session- keep it to a small loser. Well, I get my wish and when it's time to go I'm stuck 500. I can live with that.

Food was actually really good this time. They had roast chicken, tri tip, a bunch of carb sides like roasted potatoes, two kinds of pasta, mashed potatoes, etc. Only regret is basically no veggies.

I've got time for a quick smoke before I play.

OK LFG one time!!!!!
Rd 1 score-
Spoiler

Rd 2 score-
My lord. One avg and one slightly above avg. 2/4 rds down. This is looking like it's going to be a min cash, yet again. Oh, I drew the minimum (500) for the bonus gift as well- because of course I did. Why can't I open with a great score, and then every rd from then could be the one that just puts it away?
Rd 3 score-
Obv the best of the 3. I've always said an avg of 85k is probably enough to win one of these things. So I've got a shot, but it's all going to come down to the rebuy rd tomorrow. I hit a bunch of high paying symbols this rd but with some dead spots too. That must be what it feels like to be like all these other people who I routinely see putting up god rounds. If that happened to me with that frequency, yeah sure I can see how these things are fun.
Damn. I really had hopes of just walking away, knowing I'm hitting something huge. Instead, it's back to playing small and scared.
I head back to the Wynn side. Sit at multiline quarters, get nothing. Move to UX- get draws now obv, but miss them all. This is getting frustrating, and tilting...
Move to multiline dollars.

I lost 5k, then another 2k before I came to my senses. -7k session to end the day. I'm now losing for the trip (not much though). Part of me feels good- I survived two days and am barely stuck. Part of me is pissed- I gave back too much this AM, still haven't caught any real heat, and the tourney is likely a bust as well. GOTTA BOOK A WIN THIS TRIP!
Day 2 result- -7.5k
Overall- -3.8k
Dealt quads- 1
Day 3 coming soon...
how often do you see ap slots guys checking the ux machines per session?
So to put the slot tournament into poker terms you bagged an average stack after day one?
At least once a trip. Can't stand those guys, cycling through every machine to pick up a few pennies in expectation. What a sad life.
So to put the slot tournament into poker terms you bagged an average stack after day one?
Certainly wouldn't look at it that way. More like I entered a poker tournament, and instead of 25k chips I was given 26k?
Or maybe, I've won 2 flips, just 10 more and I've got a shot at some real money?
The way these things work- they take your top two of 4 scores to determine your place. The prize pool is so top heavy- 150k for first, 50k for 2nd, 20 for 3rd, 5th-10th got 10k? From there it drops off sharply- top 50% you get 2k free credit (out of 6500 buy in), bottom 50% is just 1k free credit!
So for me, if I'm not finishing on the podium it's not a big score. I'm not trying to min cash- I wanna huge score. I'm sure in that sense it's like a poker tournament. From an analogy standpoint, even if you only have one massive score going into the last rd, it's like making it to the final table but still anything can happen. You're in a good spot but still a lot to play for. Only two massive scores will do, and that'd be like making a final table with 99% of the chips.

so at this stage, heading into the final round, what do you estimate you need to score in the final round to 1. take the thing down & 2, get maybe 5th?

I'd need a god round, 90k should do it. Even for 5th, probably need 80-85k. To put this in perspective, I've never had a round over 80k, EVER. That's kind of why it was hard for me to come up with a poker analogy. I'm simultaneously still in the hunt and yet have almost no chance of a big prize.

it seems clear that we are needing to hit a 1 outer on the river

Sound like me playing poker MTT. I completely understand. I have chips, but not a real chance at the top. [emoji2]

Leon, your re-cap of your GLP-1 journey was the best I have seen. Thank you for the details.
I have been on Rybelsus for only a week now but I have already experienced many of the benefits which you wrote about. So far, no side effects.
Besides the obvious weight loss benefit, I have noticed several other positives such as fewer aches and pains, less desire to go on tilt when playing poker, etc.
One question for you. Since I just started I am, obviously, on the lowest prescribed dose.
Since the cost of these drugs increase when your needed dosage increases, I am hoping to stay at the lowest dose for as long as possible.
My question is do you foresee you needing a larger dose in the near future to continue the benefits? Or do you think you can stay on the lowest dose ‘forever’?

I noticed less of an effect after about a month. For me, though, it's still getting the job done. So I could see being on this dose "forever", I could also understand others needing to up the dose.
only bit of advice for those on various sorts of weight loss journeys
you might find yourself surprised and unblinded feeling cold t-shirt nipple shivers in lower t-stat heat chip situations which previously felt cozy as a cat
aka losing fat is like removing your bodys inside puffy jacket and unc would like to tell all yall to bring a sweater
good friend lost over 100 pounds in past year from using glps
two biggest realizations
her shoes don't fit anymore, so she even had fat feet
she is constantly cold
Brag: I'm down ~60lbs from my heaviest weight (1/4 my total weight!)(took 3 years)
Beat: I'm cold AF if I'm inside.
Variance: I gained less than 10 lbs back and I feel as fat as I ever felt. But I barely recognize pics from my heaviest weight in comparison.
I was doing 1mg (??) Ozempic weekly, but have backed down to .5mg, and I don't think it's working enough (see 10 lbs back)
What DOES control me, and has my entire life, are my addictions. I have a very addictive personality and when I get into something, I don't do it half way- I dive all the way in. So it's not enough for me to get into soccer- I've got to coach a team, I've got to wear a soccer jersey every day, I have get a soccer ball tattooed on my body, I have to memorize every player in the
NON POKER CONTENT LINK but imo very interesting read if you're interested in Leon's views above.
Yo, we're waiting for a next installment, no? leon must be real life busy
Yeah I typically try to write up the TRs during slow periods at work. Save my down/free time for myself and family. Let's just say work has been a BITCH since I've been back. Hopefully I'll get to the next installment tomorrow.

I've run across quite a few of the checkers over the years. In Laughlin, I noticed the same guy has been doing it for years. Around here they seem to drop off after awhile and some how a new one pops up for a few weeks or months before stopping. One of the most annoying was this guy who was going around the casino collecting the left over TITOs and cents left in the machines and then going to UX and betting a single coin per line on nickels and dimes. Everything about this is a waste of time and embarrassing.
Even worst about 1 year ago I was in Las Vegas and this guy try to scam me into loading up the UX machines with multipliers that he would play off later. Since I play UX I knew what he was doing and declined his offer. Sadly I bet he has hustled many tourists, old folks, people drunk/high, or lonely people looking for someone to talk to.
Sounds like Jardin is permanently closed

Years ago was at flamingo playing and I saw that scam happening on the UX machine next to me. I didn't realize until the guy gets dealt a straight, and tells the mark ok now let's try the other version.
I say wait wait! You have all your next hands at 8x, play another hand. Aggressively the guy says to me, you don't know what you are talking about mind your business. I got up from machine and saw another guy hovering about 15 feet away, who was for sure his partner.
I walk over to security station, well out of scammers sight. I try to explain the scam and situation, they clearly did not understand what I was explaining.
Figured I would at least go back and just walk by, tell the guy they are running a scam and keep walking. They were gone by that time.

I pretty much agree 100% with these two posts and wanted to address it a little further. IMO it's so low class even when it's not a scam. I get some people are down on their luck etc. But my god, when you're literally spending your time in a casino trying to grab fractions of pennies in EV... I really feel like walking around looking for spare change on the ground or panhandling will yield a better result. Those people who are outright trying to hustle/scam unsuspecting people? Total scum.
On a related note, it never ceases to amaze me that people will stuff money into a machine and have zero clue what they're doing. How can you play if you don't know what the multipliers are? Is there any chance they know there's such a thing as correct holds if they don't even know what the feature is? And yeah, like some random person in a casino is just "giving you advice" out of the goodness of their heart. I guess that's why they say a sucker is born every minute.
But yeah, these people are the nut low. Even at a place like the Wynn, they're there (although I assume less often). Haven't seen an outright scam at the Wynn- I bet they get run off pretty fast.
Oh I thought of two other things- the two times in my life I've seen the casino personally (for me or my family) intervene to prevent a scam.
First was at Wynn- security tried to get my WIFE to leave my dad alone LOL. They thought she was trying to hustle an old man haha. I wasn't there but my wife said the look on security's face when my dad tried to explain she was his DIL was priceless.
Second at, of all places, the stratosphere in my low rolling craps days. I was putting a pretty good roll together and some ghetto person came up and tried to bum a cigarette. (Good) dealer snap told him to leave- he literally said, "you can't hustle the customer. They have a convenience store 5 min away. If you want to hustle anyone, hustle the casino". Haha. I appreciated that at the time even though it wasn't strictly necessary.
Only time I have seen security intervene to prevent a scam (similar to your wife and dad story above).
My best buddy is blind and we pal around in Vegas a lot. Years ago we were staying at the Vegas Club, back in the coin dropper days. He is playing video poker (he has a tiny bit of vision and can play solo if he looks at each card one at a time two inches from the screen) and I sit next to him for a bit and help him by calling out the cards to hold, then I get up and go play elsewhere.
Lose $20 quickly and come back next to him. Soon security walks up and asks me for ID. I provide it and ask why do you need my ID, he says he was called from upstairs. I'm a little pissed that they are hassling me...then later realize the eye in the sky was watching my buddy and they were worried someone might grab his bucket of quarters and bail.
