I think Hurts struggles were very real last year and if he doesn't have a stacked team around him, I expect more of it

But I'm always very, very skeptical when offenses regress hard and the OC gets most of the blame. Just such an easy scapegoat.

PHI should've been looking to unload Hurts not Brown

I'm just curious what your plan is for that to happen?

As long as they didn’t give up a collection of boat shoes and broken in brown loafers the deal is a win for the Pats.

oof, without some stylish boat shoes on maye we may as well just put mac jones back out there

sell high on a non-elite starter (that some ppl think is elite) and load up for next season's QB rich draft

roll w the Red Rifle and McKee this season. still enough talent at the QB position to keep you fun and competitive in a season where LAR should run away w things (if STAFFLAAAH stays healthy) in the NFC

Are you from Philly? Just joking as McKee was a popular opinion a year ago, but he was fairly terrible whenever he took the field last year.

Trading Hurts would be missing a big window. Even if it means getting another franchise QB, which would take a big tank and at least a few years for the new QB. AJB is going to a team with Drake Maye. You make it sound like AJB is the difference. If that was the case, then he would have been on the Eagles. In all honesty, he wasn't even that good for the Eagles in the playoffs.

$43m dead cap hit for Iggles is not nothing. Hadn't realised it was that big

re Hurts, it would be interesting to see if he has another down year what Howie does, but to Randall's point...you need to have a plan & Tanner McKee is unlikely to be it. But he is tradeable after 2026. If he was post June 1 traded next year he would only be $21m off the cap & would be a cap saving of $20m. Given someone would likely give up at least a 1 for him & most likely a lot more, that might be good business

I mean, they have some picks next year and Hurts, so they could definitely do something via trade. It's certainly and interesting idea/conversation... I just feel like the downside is potentially much worse.

Isn't part of the problem with the idea of Eagles hitting a temporary reset button by moving Hurts that a lot of their defense is in line to get paid in 1-2 years?

It's the NFL. No team is ever guaranteed to run away with anything. As much as I think Hurts is overrated (or maybe he is properly rated at this point), getting rid of him for a below replacement level QB is a disaster. Them without Hurts is far more of a disaster than them without AJ. They need to get back to what made them successful which is to run the **** out of the ball, and that includes and requires it from Hurts.

or, hear me out here, get a king's ransom for Hurts while the getting is good

feel wrath is right though. the time for Howie to move him is next offseason

This sounds nice playing madden on dynasty mode but in real life if you can't replace your QB adequently and get in QB purgatory then you might have 5+ bad years coming and it can happen pretty quickly. Every NFL team is terrified of this. Why QBs make what they make.

I'm not sure what the market for Hurts would've been either? I dunno, he was soooo bad last year and if Howie was the 1 dealing him I think that would've raised eyebrows with other GMs.

Garrett's quite a bit better than Verse but they are quite different players who play the same position. What a wild trade for both sides, usually you go oh that's dumb by one team this one not so much, obvious Rams just don't give a damn about picks and obviously are in it to win a super bowl right now with their window. The browns not so much and get younger with some future picks.

The eagles just did to aj brown what they did acquiring him in the first place.

Garrett has a big contract but if he's still that good in a few years that'll be cheap compared to what Verse would get. (of course he'd be starting to decline then but salaries have just been skyrocketing)

Look, I get the appeal, especially when you are getting rid of like the 12th best QB, but you absolutely cannot go and start someone unproven or old ass Dalton and have the 45th best QB in the league. That's a death sentence and QB purgatory as Only2adays mentioned ruins 5-10 years of competitiveness. Just look at the Raiders.

chatgpt autofill slop itt imo

?

I got triggered by concerns about Verse’s age. I’d be more interested in learning about how a guy this good wound up a redshirt freshman at Albany. ALBANY, f’crissakes.

Sheet, Garrett’s probably got Rams fans melting down over how old he is. It’s become a stupid lazy throwaway line everyone feels they have to mention.

The Jazz trading Magic Johnson for 33yo Gail Goodrich in 1979, now that’s an age concern.

Dear lord.

the age at which a player comes through & becomes elite is used at every stage in scouting/evaluating talent for all professional sports because it very often points to overall athleticism & athletic potential.

sorry if it triggers you but it is relevant in an evaluation of him.

there are of course exceptions but the players who go on to become dominant NFL players are typically dominant at the top level of college by their second season & are drafted after their 3rd. Verse was drafted after 5 seasons & only got to division 1 ball in his 4th year at a time when the elite prospects of the same age as him were getting drafted.

maybe he's an outlier...he is certainly a good player. but...while not outlandish if he does... he is less likely to develop into an All Pro than if he was two years younger & had come through earlier.

Steelers just gave 4/100/42 to someone I've never heard of

in the last 11 nfl drafts (going back to 2016) the Rams have selected how many 1st round picks?
bonus question: who were they

I know it’s not many, I’d guess 2-3. Couldn’t tell you who they are but chances are they weren’t that good.

think for a few seconds and i bet you name a couple

Well, obviously Ty Simpson haha.

I knew Donald was further back.

I cheated and looked up the others, but I won’t spoil.
