I can’t imagine with the glacial pace of play and graphics explaining exactly what is happening in regards to the action, that anyone has trouble following the action without the commentators. This is WSOP, not Triton or EPT. Go to one of those streams if you want hooty snooty commentary on ranges and what luxury watch each player is sporting. WSOP is for the red blooded Ame

I mean....i dont love Jesus, but I do love beer and fat tits?

I've never heard Stapleton commentate so I have no opinion on that.

Seems to be the complete opposite in my perspective. Live MTTs are booming while live public cash games are dying. Hate to break it to you but if you aren’t studying ranges and charts, you’re even deader money in cash than in tournaments. In my area, the tournament scene is filled with players who used to dump in cash games until they discovered mtts.Although, I do agree wit

We can agree on wsop, I guess I was more so speaking about vegas since it’s where I play (I remember TX having plenty tourney donkeys). I also think that even if you learn incrementally in cash, you are almost always somewhere around 100bbs where as during a tourney that number can be all over the place. Therefore you can become β€œok” at cash with a 100bb stack, maybe even get lucky a few hands and 2x or 3x your money and leave. I also agree that if you play 8 hr sessions in cash or tourney without studying you are probably -ev.

I don’t play much NL cash mostly limit/mix but with game selection LLS cash is much easier than tourney grinding in vegas.

you're getting this **** for free, crying about commentating smh.

Some people greatly preferred prior year’s coverage which is no longer available so there is a definite cost.

If someone is enjoying a $15 top notch steak burger you aren’t doing them any favors by snatching it away and handing them a free greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ash tray.

But Stapes was serviceable enough imo. Late start times still filled with breaks and commercials, the nonsense countdown show, and lack of variety are valid criticisms.

Tournaments are definitely booming these days compared to cash games. Personally I think tournaments are a racket and most people playing them include the broke "pro" grinder types are just hoping for a lucky bink. Nothing wrong with that at all for a rec player. People want the big score.

As for the second part- lol @ low stakes games. If you need to study to beat mouth breathers gambling for fun something is seriously wrong. Now deep in a tournament when most of the people left are the better players who are well studied- yea you better have put some work in to not be a dog.

You're also right that generally speaking people who go out to wsop for weeks or even the entire thing are mainly pros or at least solid regs.
The bad players go for a few days or a week.

No way are the fields in low buy in bracelet events anywhere near tough. These are the softest fields youÂ’ll ever play anywhere in the world. I played a FT in 5k+ player field where only 3 or 4 had any results on Hendon Mob and even they only had a few $k in winnings

A couple years ago I was going to go to the WSOP for the main event, but I ended up bailing. This year I'm actually gonna go though (cross my fingers). At least I'm pretty sure this year is gonna be the year.

Any advice for someone brand new to Vegas? I want to be prepared so that I'm not a fish out of water.

Also, what is the best way to pay? I'd imagine bringing $10k on me in cash might not be the safest option.

Well done to Kirsten Foxen , 6th bracelet

I am only speaking on live MTTs, the average joe has realized that more often than not their 4-6 hrs at a $300-$800 BI tourney ends without them being in the money. When cash games allow them the ability to 2x maybe 3x the same amount of money potentially in much less time and they can leave when they want. IMO the avg joe player was a significant chunk of the recreational tou

As a counterpoint to your starting table experience in the Mini Mystery, my starting table in the Monster Stack had no pros and only a few players with any cashes at all. And those cash totals were all less than $50,000 lifetime.

Depositing money onto the wsop+ app using a debit card is supposed to be the easiest method. I think you have to verify your identity at the Paris or WSOP cage before regging your first tourney. This will be my first year trying to use the app, in the past I would just pay cash but I’ve heard some people have had issues using cash this year.

Grinder’s many years spent burning the midnight oil plumbing the deepest intricacies of river play finally paying off would’ve surely made Darwin & Curie smile.

Quite a comeback by Mark Gregorich in the 1500 Big O. Dead last after Day 1A, now 13/29. Maybe the most accomplished WSOP player without a bracelet other than Kessler, who just got 3rd in the $10K 7-Stud. Screenshots in spoiler.

Is there an event being streamed today? I don’t see anything listed on WSOP YouTube but it’s not always easy to find.

https://www.youtube.com/@WSOP/streams

Tonight's schedule 6pm $25K NLH High Roller 6 handed final table.

Gregorich out 14th

Is it a good idea to purchase ahead of time or wait until I'm there. I'd prefer to do an ACH transfer I think, but I'm not sure if I have to wait a couple of days. I'd rather pay there in case some weird thing happens like my flight getting delayed or something else.

Negreanu, Hawkins, and Foxen at final table of $600 nlhe/plo and they are showing day 2 of 50K

Hundreds of people typing 600 in chat as it was starting

When it comes to the modern WSOP you either pay for **** coverage, or get **** coverage for free.

Last year PokerGo always adjusted and showed a final table many wanted to see

But we can stop pretending there’s any tangible difference between zero and $10

Man the coverage this year sucks. It's nice that it's free but it was so much better in prior years.

They are all over the place, table to table, event to event. Not featuring final tables. And the start times for the streams on the east cost are ridiculous.

I'd pay to get the PokerGo streams back.

Agree. The β€˜live’ stuff just feels like a highlights package

I've paid for Poker Go every year. So I don't care if it's free or not...

I hate this years coverage.

I find it unwatchable

Any table you want to watch - after a couple of hands - you don't get back to see that table again, until almost an hour later. It's unbearable. Wading through other tables - when all you want, is to watch a table. I like to see the ebb and flow - the feel of the game/players. The life or energy of the play. It's the hands before, or the accumulation of some seats VPIP, or table talk, that inform the current hand.

It's also poop that when they cut to a hand, as it's so curated - you know it's likely a knock out. The production team seem to be watching the tables and picking hands (after they have happened) for the feed. It really doesn't feel live.

Anyway - probably just me. But I hate this coverage.

They need to show the three tables on three broadcasts. So - we can just watch which ever one we want. It will actually cost less to produce (I work in TV) - and putting out three feeds live - rather than the package (and the crew it takes to do that) that they currently put out is far more expensive to make.

They obviously have their stats - and realise more people watch when there table to table - and there are more action hands. Hence this coverage.

As I said. It's probably just me.

But I call poop on the whole thing. Absolute dogs balls. I find it unwatchable.

I used to watch hours. Now I just complain a bit. And once the table I am watching has (yet again) been moved away from... I switch off. Curse the coverage, and go to bed.

Bah humbug.

Katz's face and presence sends me on tilt, it's crazy.

May be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t mind the way they showed it tonight.

There were like 3-4 interesting events going on at once. It’s not like they can do a full stream of all of them at once for us to just flip between- they don’t have the staffing or budget for it. And there’s going to be some nights where there will never be a consensus on which one everyone wants to see.

Plus, I’m guessing tonight wasn’t even the original plan- they improvised last second bc of how much smack they got for everyone wanting to see the $600 PLO/NL. I too wish they showed nothing but that (and it pissed me off every time they’d go back to the $50k or the monster stack) but quite frankly I’m content how it turned out in the end, considering it was clearly meant to be the $50k.

Side note: Wish they showed at least a few more highlights of the $10k DC FT…
