WSOP 26 6/8-6/22 - Swingin' for the Fences!

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!!!!!!!! It's almost time!

This is the most excited I have been for a poker trip ever. Can't wait to get out there again and test my skills against the bulk of the poker community. Most of my experience is in off season dailies. Looking forward to the huge player pools and multi-day events. I am scared, confident and excited all at the same time. I am already envious of the TR's that have already started. 2 weeks will be my longest LV trip ever so I hope to pace myself and stay focused.

I only have 2 events in ink and the rest will be a series of plan B's, C's and D's etc. The 2 for sures are the Colossus and the 1.1K senior at the Venetian. I also have one more event in hard pencil. The 1K WSOP senior buy that is contingent on me somehow not making it the day 4 of the Colossus. So like 99.999999% I play the senior 😀

Schedule (subject to who the hell knows?)
Mon 6/8 - arrive relax, get settled play some cash
Tue 6/9 - chill, pool time, cash etc.
Wed 6/10 - 1A Colossus
Thur 6/11 - 2A Colossus (if I bust day 1 1A Venetian 1.1K senior)
Fri 6/12 - 1B Venetian 1.1K senior or 3A Colossus if I busted earlier
Sat 6/13 - 3B Colossus or ??????????
Sun 6/14 - Final Venetian senior or ????????????
Mon 6/15 -Day 3 Colossus or 1A 1K WSOP senior
Tues 6/16 - Day 4 Colussus or 1B 1K WSOP senior or 2A WSOP senior
Wed 6/17 - Day 2 WSOP senior 2B or ???????????
Thur 6/18 - Day 3 WSOP senior or ???????
Fri 6/19 - Day 4 wsop senior or ?????????
Sat 6/20 - Day 5 senior (if needed?) or ?????????
Sun 6/21 - Who the hell knows? I'll find something.
Mon 6/22 - Fly home with hopefully some fat stacks 😀

You never know what is gonna happen so the schedule needs to be flexible. The good thing about WSOP is there are all sorts of affordble options every day. At the back end I would like to fit in some Golden Nugget (haven't been downtown in over a decade!) or some Orleans. I am undefeated at the Orleans 😀 I have played in 2 tournaments there and final tabled both with a 3rd and 4th finish. Thing is both of those tournments were over 20 years ago. Both were pre poker boom and limit since NLH wasn't a thing yet. I haven't been to the Orleans since?

I purposefully wanted a couple of days to get into the swing of Vegas time. I have been trying real hard the past month to shift my body clock into Vegas time. It's easier to get into that schedule though once I get there and the adrenaline is pumping. Plus I want a night or two getting used to the hotel bed. I hope to be running late into the evening in these events and thats way past my normal bedtime. Need to be alert after a long day and I hope to be!

Like I said I am both confident and scared. I have a pretty good track record in small field dalies in the 200-500 entry range but this is the WSOP! Not that I am playing in any big (money) events but they will still be huge fields with stronger players than I am accustomed too. I have been working hard on the solver daily for the past few months trying to elevate my game in areas I know I am weak (too tight in blinds, no real 3 betting without AA or KK, and sizing especially post flop). I feel much more confident in these areas now though after extensive study.

This trip report will be just like the 25+ before it 😀 Food pics, live stack pics at each tourney break and of course my usual wit and observational humor 😀 I love doing these reports and I love following all of the TRs that will be happening simultaneously. I know a lot of us will be in the same events and I hope to cross paths in real life and meet my LVL buddies!

LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!

My only question is, will your suitcase be large enough to take all that cash home, or do you think you need to rent a trailer?

Good luck, can’t wait to see you out here!

Good luck. Win all the money (except mine).

What, no Monster? No Milli Maker?

There are also Daily Deepstack Seniors Version on Thursdays.

I will be in the dugout watching this mrbaseball TR unfold.

Following for the home run!

following along - will be out there starting tomorrow - best of luck!

Seems like I've heard of people with money coming out of their ears, but not their shoes.

Always in for a mrb TR! Looking forward to tales of the Cheesecake Factory soon!

May you Harold Baines your way to a final table.

LFG!

Uhg! I have done a horrible job these past few weeks trying to shift my bodyclock more towards Vegas time. Wide awake this morning at 5am CST which is 3am in LV. Gonna try to maybe sleep a little on the plane (doubtful!). My flight is at about 1:30 CST so I will be in early afternoon LV time.

Gonna try my hardest to stay up late tonight and sleep as late as my body will let me tomorrow. No tournies scheduled until Wednesday so I hope I can assimilate to Vegas time by then. Can't wait to get there!

Finally made it in. It was the travel day from hell. Flight was delayed flights stood on the tarmac for an hour then we couldn't get a gate once we landed it's been a long day already. But I think I'm going to go get something to eat and then try to get into a cash game more later once I get more settled in.

Welcome!

I was totally famished I hadn't eaten anything except one egg sandwich about 12 hours ago. I decided to forgo Cheesecake Factory again this trip ever since they took spicy chicken off the menu they're no longer a must have first meal. So I went and got something I have been jonesing for since I didn't go there my last trip. Of course I mean the Yardbird I got the fine fried chicken and the skillet cornbread and it was absolutely delicious

As soon as I sat down at Yardbird I got on the list for Venetian one three cash. I'm going to head over there right now and see if they have a seat for me. I still have a lot of organizing to do up in the room but after the long travel day I just wanted to get out of there and get something to eat.

yum! I will for sure indulge at Yardbird this trip

see you on the final table of the V & WSOP Senior's events!

Replying to sub and to say good luck with the tournaments! Looking forward to following along!

Grand Luxe at Venetian (Cheesecake Factory's cousin) has a Spicy Buffalo Chicken sandwich.

After that delicious chicken dinner I headed up to the Venetian poker room and got a seat at 1/3 within about 5 minutes. It's a pretty lacklust recession where I lost 125 dollars and for $300 out for 185.

My back was killing me from sitting on that plane all day and the best part of the poker session was when I flag the massage girl over to get a rub. I felt pretty grimy and I wanted to get back to the room and shower and feel fresh again. I also needed to continue unpacking I did all my clothes real quick when I first got here but I needed to organize all my toiletries in the bathroom. I also wanted to stop at CVS for some Essentials AKA beer and soda.

Now I'm going to fire up the laptop and try to get caught up on everybody else's trip report. This is truly the Golden Age of trip reports for the next couple weeks.

Okay caught up on the TR's. We need more cashes LVL! Really only 2 notable hands from todays cash session. 2 limpers to me on the button with 2 black Q's. I raise to 12, blinds fold and limpers call. Flop is 3 small cards with 2 spades. I bet 35 and get one call and one fold. Turn is a mall red card and I bet 50 and get a call. River is a spade for the front door flush. Guy checks and I check back and he is pissed with the nut flush wanting a check raise.

Another button hand where I survive an angle shoot. I have AcJc and raise 3 limpers. 234 rainbow flop. I c bet and get one call. Turn 5 for wheel. I bet 25 and he calls so I assume we are chopping. River 6, he says check and I flip my cards up and now this guy tries to bet. He definitely said check but dealer says she didn't hear it. 2 players back me up and we chop.

Also had an interesting bomb pot with a nut flush on one board and nothing on the other board but 2 guys were fighting for the flush on that board so I actually made money on a bomb pot! I wish I wouldn't have been shortstacked at the time.

Tomorrows plan is chill, hit the pool and play some more cash. I have to pace myself on the food. I will have one more fine dinner tomorrow but once tournies start for me I hope to a big breakfast then snack type of eating schedule.

I am just chilling in the room and hope to stay up as late as I can and sleep past 6am tomorrow which would be a major victory. I need to get my body clock attuned to tournament play!

You can never play too tight in the blinds. Ask Kristen & Leo about that.

The "mumble check" and "mumble bet" seems to be a favorite of the Commerce regs. Beware when they make visible motions for their other actions then suddenly switch to verbal. Lucky for me I don't hear so good and almost always ask for verification.

I slept okay last night which by Vegas standards is outstanding for the first night in town. I did make it a little past 6:00 a.m. so I'm more on Vegas time than my normal schedule would be. I decided to go out and get some steps and ended up at the Grand Lux for breakfast getting my traditional eggs benedict for the first breakfast in town. As always they were outstanding.

Then I walked around a little to try to burn off that breakfast. And decided to take a morning gamble on some video poker and bubble craps. I won about $21 on the video Poker Deuces Wild and then I took that ticket and slid it into bubble crabs and ran it up to 195 dollars so between the two games I was a $95 winner.

Then I just walked around a little and decided to head back to my room which is where I am now but on the way I slid $20 into a dancing drums machine at the Treasure Island because Langdon says they never lose. He was right I ran my 20 up to 45 and cashed out quickly.

Now planning to head down to the pool when it opens at 9:00. Standard room at the Treasure Island is fine. I have a view of the guitar and the ti pool. I hope to spend a couple hours out there as it's still Pleasant this morning.

Interesting you should ask. It was very nice for the first hour between 9:00 and 10:00 but at 10:00 a.m. is when they pump up the music. I left shortly after that. But the ti pool is very comfortable it's small but it isn't crowded at all and it gets real good morning sun and the chairs are great.

Now I'm going to get cleaned up and probably head over and try to get in some morning cash games.

Just played a couple hours at the venetian. I was in for $300 out for 309. I was actually doing a lot better than that for a while I ran it up to about 150 profit. But then I ran into a real bad River card on a bomb pot and I gave back all my profit. Just going to chill right now and get caught up with some news and then I'll be back at it later this afternoon.
