MTT Low Stakes Grind Journal
Hey everyone!
I've been grinding low stakes MTTs recently, trying to improve on my game, and I thought it would be a goo

$3k milestone absolutely smashed. I think today might be my biggest net positive in one day, so I'm 'very pleased' to say the least lol.
Some notable tourneys from today:
- 1st Daily Hyper $3 = $258.28
- 3rd Daily Hyper $3 = $243.83
- 11th Mini Hypersonic $2.50 = $34.68
Thank you to @Shuckle for your comment earlier on - I'm starting to now dip my toes into some $15 tourneys if the player pool is low. I've grown my BR substantially, and so I feel more confident at having a stab here and there at some larger tourneys.
I think it's now time to cut out some of the smaller tourneys from what I play, such as the $0.25 and $0.50 T$ builders - although I do well in them, they're a little bit redundant now for growing my BR.
I'll spend tomorrow morning analysing some of the FT spots from today's tourneys.
Graph is skyrocketing, sexy image. You must be reading well population. Do you use only GTOW?
Good luck further.

Cheers Curse, I do find myself checking back on my graph frequently just to bathe in its glory lol.
In terms of reading population, I'd say I do that pretty well, and especially when choosing my spots to shove / call preflop. To be honest, I'd say that is where the majority of my edge comes from.
The only solver I use is the starter subscription of GTOW, however I'd argue that I use ICMizer more than it at the moment.

Sun run has come to a close! I put in a large amount of volume today, and decided it's finally time to try and move up a little bit in stakes.
I continued to play my regular $8 and $10 tournaments, and sprinkled in a few $15 ones, a couple $20 with low entrants, and a $30 which had a relatively small pool, and a decently sized overlay.
Coming 2nd in the Daily Turbo $2 was much needed to negate today's losses. Still feeling quite confident and comfortable though! In the larger tournaments that I did play today, I often found myself running AK into Aces, and getting sucked out with AK against AQ/AJ type holdings.
Onwards and upwards!

Notable tourneys:
- 1st in the Daily Classic $15 = $278.97
- 4th in the T$ Builder $2 = $23.90
Very solid day today, bringing the BR up to a new high point, and negating yesterday's losses!
Funny story from my in person £12 tourney today - FT with 8 left, I min raise pocket 88 UTG (50bb effective), button min clicks back and I call. Flop comes 5c8cKd. I check, button bets 1bb, I raise to 1/2 pot, villain jams and I snap.
Villain shows pocket KK for the flopped top set over middle set lmao. At least I got to leave nice and early haha!

Nothing too crazy to report from today, a couple deepish runs but nothing too substantial. I stopped playing pretty early in the day today because I could tell I wasn't really on my A-game, so I'm going to get some good rest tonight and come back fresh tomorrow.

Very successful day, new high for the BR, getting some big scores on some final tables. I've also subscribed to another month of GTOWizard, which I've subtracted from my BR, since I've been finding it super useful for my game.
Wrapping up early today since I'm going to go and see The Backrooms movie, looking forward!

Bit of a shite day, managed to make one FT in the Daily Turbo $10 but get stacked off in 7th after a hand that I played optimally didn't go my way (I checked with GTOW lol). Don't think I played particularly bad overall, just generally not having things go my way. Deciding it's best to wrap up a bit earlier today.
I'm going to use GTOW's drill feature to refine my 20bb shoving range - I noticed I missed a hand earlier when I should've been jamming with KJss for 20bb preflop, and I feel like this is a pretty important spot to analyse since my opponents massively overfold in the face of 20bb jams.
Just writing this here as a note to remind myself - I need to practice using GTOW my shoving / calling spots when short stacked (15bb-ish) from the SB and BB

Ran like shit today. Constantly getting my overpairs cracked by underpair sets when jamming pre, and it just felt like every 'important' all in just wouldn't go my way.
Happy with how I played today, just a bit frustrated with the lack of good results to show for it.

A high volume day today, and oh boy did I run like shit. Barely able to even make min-cashes today, just felt like I was again, losing all my important flips when they mattered. Anywhooooo...
Only good result was from my last tourney of the day, managing to come 3rd for $227.84 in the Daily Turbo Deepstack $15. Naturally, my last hand was essentially getting jammed into with AKo by 98s and them turning a straight...

Another pretty wank day. Managed to get the FT as seen above, but that's about it as far as tourneys. Managed a few other min cashes.
Good news though is that I have FINALLY managed to win a Weekender ticket, and have just managed to be the last to cash in a satty for a GGMasters ticket. I'll keep on playing these sattys during the week however to see if I can rack up a couple tickets for future weeks.
One thing I've realised from playing today is to not underestimate the power that holding an A can have at showdown. I noticed a pot where I bluffed 2/3rds into on the river OOP w/ A high when in reality, I should've just been checking to hopefully realise some equity.
Time for some much needed rest!

Essentially a break even day, so can't complain. Much better than being massively in the negative.
On the whole happy with how I played, managed to make a deepish run in a $5.50 stack tourney and was a shame to bust around 20th as I had a large stack at that point. Just a reminder to myself to be very cautious when nitty players jam short stacked into you, even if you're BvB.

WE'RE SO BACK BABY, 1st place in the Daily Hyper $10!
Finally, the rebound I needed from this downswing. Ran hotter than the sun in this tourney in the build up to FT, very happy with how I played. I intentionally didn't go crazy with ICM jams because I noticed my opponents were calling each other way too wide.
BR standing: $2, 904.11

Great result for today, coming 1st in the Daily Hyper $10 was much needed to boost the BR back up.
Other than that, none of the other tourneys I played today were particularly fruitful. I've fully cut out all $30 tourneys, and this has been the case for about 3 days now I think. I think having a rule of not risking more than 1% of my BR on a tourney at a time is reasonable, and helps me to manage my BR better without thinking too hard about it.

Booyaaaaaa, 1st in a small field $10 Daily Turbo Deepstack is lovely to see. Played pretty well, realised my opponents weren't adjusting to ICM pressures anywhere near enough and so chilled out with my aggressive jams.
Have also managed to secure a 2nd Weekender ticket via satellite, and I'll try to qualify today.
