The NHL Thread
For the 5 of us who post NHL stuff, here you go. Officially the season starts Tuesday October 11, although there were tw
Lfg!!
jordan staal ghana brett howden
Insane sequence. I don’t even know what I just watched. Holy ****! Let’s go!
bank
Conn Bussi
legit no idea who gets conn on CAR
What an insane empty netter
Jordan Staal became the fourth player in the expansion era (since 1967-68) to score a goal in each of the first four games of a Stanley Cup Final
he has 5 goals now?
the Conn Smythe is based on a player's performance during the entire NHL postseason instead of just the championship game or series
thats prob working against him, but for the narratives and all who knows
Carter Hart is the first goalie ever to give up 4 or more goals in the first 4 games of a Stanley Cup Final
danm, uh2ci
i meant in the final
this isn't the NBA dawg
i thought maybe just cause of captain leading the ship, good narrative, but not sure his production merits it.
i told my buddy before SCF started that k'andre miller was my dark horse value pick for it
A lot of Staal's value doesn't show up in the stat sheet, so with no scoring, he wouldn't have a chance. But he scored enough heading into the SCF, plus scoring in every final game so far, I think he'd be the one to get it today. Obviously, still 2-3 games to play.
Stank, Hall, Miller, Blake, etc. have all had great playoffs. But Staal being the captain, his age, the 17 year stretch between Cup Finals, the fact he went 4 more days than his brother for the longest Cup Final day goal scoring stretch ever, the face offs, the intangibles, the everything. The guy is the heart and soul of this team. Every interview he gives makes me want to play with him.
I can't believe we lost games 1 and 3, won games 2 and 4, and this is a 3 game series where we have two of those games on home ice. Let's win Thursday and please figure out the ****ing second period.

ya it's great narrative. still 2-3 games to let things shake out. dont think anyone on VGK can take it from Marner, but open season on Carolina for who gets it.
Would love to watch Marner win it McDavid style.
For a guy with 20 points Eichel has looked invisible a lot.
[Seravalli] If Oilers elect to continue down the path with Mike Babcock, sources say the NHLPA is in receipt of “significant” additional claims from their own investigation with players that were not publicly reported in 2023. Those claims were presented to NHL prior to his resignation.
Furthermore, sources indicate that asking players to see photos is NOT what ultimately resulted in Babcock’s resignation. It was the subsequent (unknown) allegation reported below that cost Babcock his job in CBJ.
supposedly the loilers are pushing forward with this, so lololol lets open the floodgates to the babcock files then
My outlandish theory is it's all a ruse to sewer Babcock.
Oilers want Cassidy but Vegas won't let them talk, so just kicking tires right now. Many players have beef with Babcock cause he's a dick, as seen above.
They say maybe if we go to hire him, we can unearth all his other dirt. Investigation proceeds, turns out even bigger dick than assumed, hire doesn't happen, then they get Cassidy in a few weeks.
no way this is 69d chess, especially since it's the loilers. plus friedman i think was saying this hire was straight from ownership. this is 1000% genuine
