Is this guy the hero LA needs? Is his mayorship going to be the template used to transform all the literal shithole citi
I said Republicans get elected under the same process. Including in LA on the LA city council (less so in the supervisor’s office but it does happen).
How about we make elections have voter ID, and make voting in elections mandatory and a national/state holiday. You think Republicans would go for it?
The voter id they would not sure on the other two but the federal election should be a national holiday . I am on the fence to mandatory voting .
If Bass wins the voters are just plain stupid
Mandatory voting is silly. Not giving a **** is one of the most important freedoms there is.

The problem is that activist canvassing and mail in voting in big blue cities results in a lot of people who dont give a **** and have no skin in the game "voting" for the preferred candidates of activists. This is just as bad, if not worse, than "buying" elections, and isn't talked about enough for the problems it causes.
Results in very bad incentive structures.

Voter id laws and the save America act don’t resolve this issue. Of course, it’s an imaginary problem to throw in with all the others.

I don’t care about mandatory voting at all, just pointing out that “voter security” is not the only consideration for people.
I agree that it is not the only consideration for people.
Personally, I think elections should be as secure as possible. The best methods for this is in-person voting with identification, private voting with only you present once you have identified yourself, paper ballots that are anonymous and untouched by officials once they leave your hand, machine counting of said paper ballots and the option of a manual recount if required or requested.
However, I also think voting should be as easily accessible as possible. No bureaucratic hurdle before the voting process, accessibility that is uniform across regions, demographics and population density, identification should not cost money and the process should ideally leave no-one disadvantaged from participation.
Basically, it should be simple, secure, free from pressure, readily available and not cost you anything.
I also think there should be always be the option to vote blank. There is an important difference between not voting and voting for nothing. The former says you do not care, the latter says you care, but there is nothing for you.
After all that, people should be free to participate or not participate as they desire. I can't dictate what politicians say, but any politician or official that wants to make it harder for people or specific people to vote is a fly in the soup of democracy as far as I am concerned.

I once waited over 4 hours for one of your in-person voting booths. And... a few other times with well over an hour wait.
Unacceptable

Four hours is certainly a long time. Almost as bad as the DMV. Sounds like your voting precinct workers and/or facilitators were incompetent. Hopefully they weren't also the folks counting ballots.

Please stop making sense.
Thanking you in advance.

I am 100% in agreement with this. That’s why I think a lot of the discussions on voter security are a canard to actually put up roadblocks to voting. The same people that advocate for voter ID are allies with people who argue the 19th amendment and voting rights acts should both be repealed.
But I have said time and again that voter ID is fine, but it should be implemented properly. I don’t think there is a will to do that.
I will say that I have done absentee voting for over a decade and was always able to verify that my vote was counted and not altered. They also have signature verification so you can’t just sign however you want. But I do think it lends the appearance of impropriety to have people be able to deposit them in a box somewhere, even if nothing is going on.
“Some of these efforts are so diabolical and so far upstream it is impossible to prove,” House Speaker Mike Johnson told CNN’s Manu Raju on Monday.

Voter ID was a big deal in the 70s and 8-s because you still had a decent chunk of voters born in the 10s and 20s that just never had a need for photo ID and black people were more likely in this group. To impalement it properly now you will have to find a way to prevent more black people from having IDs.

I fear you might have a stroke any minute now.. Maybe you're too emotionally fragile and/or high-strung to post in a public forum. Your mental and physical health is more important imo that screeching at antiquated folks on an antiquated politics forum on an antiquated poker site.
I'm looking out for you!

Sadly, it might be much worse than that! He might even beat his kids, which often happens when emotionally unhinged folks lose their temper.
I doubt that's the case with SRM, but who knows? At least one proverbial 'red flag' is there.
