Preflop raise is big, why raise 5BB?
No data for the player but the limp-call from CO is fish move.
Flop bet is fine, I would check turn. River check is fine, I fold this river easy and move on. We have second pair with a **** kicker.
Sure it could be a busted flush draw bluffing, but without more player information I am never making this call.
The problem is the turn, what do you expect this bet will achieve? Your hand just went from "pretty strong" to "bluffcatcher". It's maybe a good idea to bet small, they might keep calling an 8 or a 4.

I wanted to extract value from flush draws and lower pairs. On the other hand, A♥ x♥ just sucked out on me. It was a thin bet.
Here is how the hand went:

Hi,
Glad you won the pot, but this hand is a good reminder to avoid results-oriented thinking. It's usually better to focus on ranges and EV rather than a specific weird play by one opponent.
About your turn reasoning: - Flush draws: True, but keep in mind that many FDs calling the flop will contain an Ace. - Lower pairs: I wouldn't expect a typical player to call a half-pot bet with just an 8 on an A-K board.
River is a fold for me. Calling 43.5 BB with a weak bluffcatcher and winning because he turned 98 into a bluff is definitely the exception, not the rule.

I agree. I still cannot make all these reasoning in the time interval I have to make a move, but I am moving towards it.
