** World Cup 2026 - USA, Canada, Mexico Thread **
Saw no thread was active yet while it starts tomorrow so I'd gave it a go
No real time for an extensive write-up but lets
Wow. Good ****, NZ.
wtf is the IRN keeper doing on that goal?
dreadful positioning
wood-just got a good thing going here
lets see if it works a 3rd time...
Damn
Thoughts and Prayers for all those who didn't stay up to watch this and are missing the game of the tournament so far.
Yeah this is the best game of the day.
Both these teams absolutely sending it.
games start later again tomorrow, for some reason. idk why they seem to start at different times every day
france vs senegal (in east rutherford)
iraq vs norway (in foxborough)
argentina vs algeria (in kansas city)
austria vs jordan (in santa clara)
France-Senegal at 8pm (UK time) is good for them, but Iraq-Norway three hours later is just abusing those fans.
Iran/NZ highlights are nuts. There was realistically no way I could've watched it, but damn.
Mikel Oyarzabal is the first player on record since 1966 to fail to record a single touch in the first 30 minutes of a World Cup game
i legitimately don't know how this is possible when you're on spain playing cape verde. was he literally just doing cardio on the side? did he get stuck in traffic and miss the first half hour? was he being frozen out by a bunch of dudes who hate him? did he take a nap? something else?
This happens fairly often to Haaland in the Premier League. Despite having a bunch of amazing players City will be unable to get the ball to him and at half time Sky will tell you "Haaland has not had any touches in the penalty box". The opposition just concentrates on cutting him out and it can be frustrating to watch if your hoping for goals from him.
I dont know if the same's going to happen for Norway when they come up against organised teams, he should fill his boots vs Iraq but it's not uncommon for him in the Prem. When they beat it he scores hat tricks and looks like the best striker in the world when they dont he is completely invisible.

That's mostly b/c Pep's possession system is quite outdated in the EPL where even the worst teams are fairly adept at bunker and counter. Instead of playing quickly and letting creative players like Cherki and Doku cook, Pep would rather play 150 consecutive safe passes around the perimeter and never risk anything. As a result, the ball rarely finds its way to Haaland, despite a possession advantage and he'd often check out mentally. I'm hoping Maresca will actually let his creative players create and if so I think he walks into an EPL title like Slot did his first year.
Not sure what type of system Norway runs, but I'm sure it will do a better job of incorporating Haaland. Plus he kinda shut down for City in 2026, probably so he'd be fresh for World Cup so I'd imagine he wants to come out and dominate for his country that is only in their 4th ever WC.

yeah but this wasn't touches in the box, it was touches period. and it was oyarzabal, who isn't some hulking haaland type target forward. would imagine he'd play some sort of false 9 type role, but maybe he was lining up as a normal sort of striker there. i maintain that it's fairly bizarre
Forward four of Mbappe, Olise, Doue & Dembele looks mighty impressive
Lets see how it holds up
The French anthem remains metal as hell.
Noticed the change in VAR official intros since Mr. white supremacy did his thing. Also, I don't think Senegal has much chance today. France 4-1 feels right.
Today I feel African
So every time the opposition get a corner you can just stand on your own goalkeepers foot and you get a free kick?
I don't know what the rules say exactly but?
