Pretty cool how the WSOP app offers you the option to purchase your tournament buyins using a debit card to avoid the 2% credit card fee (it explicitly states this) then when you get to the end of the purchase slips the 2% on hoping you won’t notice.

Dang, good to know. I think an ACH transfer should be free. I'm thinking of just biting the bullet and doing it now, but I'd be lying if I wasn't nervous since it is a high amount of money for me.

As far as obnoxious players, I've been fortunate to not have to deal with them in my limited time playing live poker. I'm kind of wondering if it is worth purchasing noise cancellation head phones incase I run into a player like this. I don't think annoying players do it to get an edge. I think it is generally the way that they are. If anything, it could be a stall tactic to gain EV since the slower you play in a tournament the higher your EV given your skill edge isn't that profound.

Big punt in the 250k or nah? Bluffs like this only work on the river, since check-raiser most times have equity to call on the flop.

Mateos (EP) 36bb vs Moncek (BTN) 66bb

EP raise 2.1bb ; Btn 3b to 6.5bb ; EP call

FLOP: Qd-Qs-5s ; EP check ; Btn bet 2.8bb ; EP check-raise 8.7bb ; Btn shoves 20.7bb effective ; EP calls

Mateos KsTs vs Moncek Ah9d.

Another bracelet for the Foxen mantelpiece !

I used my debit card and was not charged a fee.

Seems like an atrocious bluff, but Moncek gii 44% to win.

Not surprisingly, spectacular final table in the $250K. Matteos, Kyney, Koon, and Ivey. Rich amateur Einhorn in 2nd place.

Einhorn is a very well known hedge fund guy. Made a deep ME run back in the boom; wore a sweatshirt with his kids’ handprints on it or something similar.

It doesn't get charged in the end if you check the bank statement

I suspect it just didn’t identify my debit card as a debit card, but instead of telling me the error it just decided to silently charge it as a credit card and add the fee.

As a former dev manager it’s pretty clear clear the team managing the app isn’t top shelf by any means.

That wouldn’t surprise me, but it would be a terrible human factors design choice.

A9o seems like an ambitious bluff both preflop and after facing the x/r. It would be nicer to not have the 9d in hand since other nines could block more Q9s, but even then it would still be too loose imo. Since the most natural x/r bluffs are spade draws I would mostly treat this x/r the same as a x/r all-in.

I guess Monchek assumed that Matteos was likely pure bluffing with the paired board, and didn't consider that Matteos might have semibluffs he was not folding.

for me technically it's not a bluff if you have the best hand but as noted, you might be up against a flush draw that can pair too that is not folding so it could just be gambling. Also, red Ace nine off also really doesn't block his opponents bluffs or semi bluffs. He might well have the best hand and just went with that. Some other bluffs mateos would just fold rather than you having to guess later on the turn/river.

In the $250K high roller, with 7 left, the top 4 are Einhorn, Kyney, Mateos, and Koon.

I'm absolutely loving Angry Blez in the booth tonight.

I find hilarious, so enthusiastic even though a lot of what he said is pure hyperbole

100%, which is why I like the change up. I'm rolling my eyes and laughing at much of what he says but it's entertaining at least - the fire alarm dash out and the lashing out at critics was great imo - and usually provides decent strategic commentary. This may be well known but it's not to me, could be slightly on the spectrum? His reactions seem to indicate perhaps. Anyway the douche brigade needs to leave him alone.

He’s great entertainment

The night before he wanted the chat to lay into him, he said he loved the abuse. But for the final table he was lashing out at them.

Blez is fine as the third guy in the booth. It was just way too much Blez when it’s just him and Ali.

This is true, and how bout when he had to start off last night by himself - the producers quickly said "oh **** get Jeff in there quick" until Ali was able to make it.

Eye rolling is right. His commentary (had to be sarcasm) during the last hand was funny, but not for the normal reason. Either take it serious or dont, can't have it both ways

Very hyperbolic lol.

β€œThis is Ali vs. Frazier!”, β€œThis is Magic vs. Bird!”

Uh no lol, this is 2 poker players who wouldn’t be recognized by 99% of the public if walking down the street lol.

Great to have Jesse Sylvia tonight.

I miss the graphic at the top of the screen that shows everybody’s stack and position.
