I'm guessing we like SP? We need to see the Hot Flash Bonus though. πŸ˜€

Splashed around a 2/3 NL game for a couple hours, it was meh.

I was on the interest list for PLO, but it never got going.

Still feeling good for now, but it’ll be a long day if I bag tonight.

Next Flight of the 300, let’s goooooo!

I woulda played that thing if I saw it today.

First break, got about back to a starting stack, with 33k.

Won a flip for my tournament life, which isn’t ideal pacing before the first break, but I’m glad it won. AQo > JJ.

Curious to hear y’all’s thoughts on a potential angle situation. I’m in the SB at 100/200, it folds to the button, who says “raise” and puts out a 100 chip and a 5k chip.

After they hit the felt, after a beat, he says no wait 600. But it’s ruled that the raise to 5100 stands.

I have KcJc in the small blind.

Off a 30k starting stack. I’m hoping to hit a piece, and overbet shove.

I call, bb folds.

It comes A-K-7, I lead out 5k, he snap shoves.

Then I think about a time I saw someone shoot this particular angle, and surprise, it was AA.

I fold to the shove. Now I really hate the preflop call, and the flop lead even worse, if I was gonna fold anyway to the shove.

He doesn’t show, doesn’t say, but the way he’s conducted himself since then at the table makes me think it very likely was an angle.

Curious to hear y’all’s thoughts.

But it’s in the past now. I’m back to a starting stack, on a pretty good table, and they’re calling alternates just as fast as they can seat them. This could get big, let’s keep playing good!

Just fold there. The first time

I think…in general, bluff catching is hugely overrated. But angle catching is an even more difficult and scary expedition and you’re better off opting out and finding better spots

From what I have seen and experienced in the last week I would concur. Every time I have tried to bluff catch this week I have caught zippity doo dah.

Second break, on 66k.

I busted a nemesis, a trash reg local I played with for most of yesterday.

I open Tc9c from HJ, she calls in BB, flop A-7-5 one club. Since it’s HU, I elect to cbet, she calls. Turn is a jack, she checks, and I check behind.

River is a most beautimus 8, she leads 10k. I count to 17-Mississippi in my head, shove, and she almost beats me into the pot with A8o.

So that was satisfying.

Unfortunately, my high water mark was short lived, as I doubled up a late reg on a K high flop when I had KJ, he had AK.

Still in good shape. Late reg will be closing after this break, but they’ve been calling alternates continuously while we’ve been playing tonight.

I’ve really gotta learn how to start holding in these 70/30’s.

Busto in level 12, just before the third break, about 50 people away from bagging.

I played tight. I observed my opponents. I had the best seat on the chip leader, whom I’d seen open light and call wide. He raises a limper from the button for 4bb, I shove 12bb in the small blind with A5o, very confident that it was ahead.

He shrugs and calls with 65o.

River 6.

This is getting really disheartening.

Nothing to do now but sleep on it.

Are there just not very many PLO tourneys? Wouldn't it seem like that would be your biggest edge since that's what you play 90% of the time?

PLO tourneys play noticeably different from PLO cash IME.

I didn’t get to bed until about 2 last night, so I knew there was no way a 10 or 11 am starting tournament was happening.

So I’m taking the day off, to do some laundry.

Had a great lunch at Esther’s Kitchen:

I had the rigatoni pasta, which comes in an egg yolk cream sauce, and these crispy cured bacon-like cubes for some crunch.

It was really tasty.

Plus a glass of cab, it was $46.

Taking it easy, and watching the World Cup today.

I can play another flight of the same event I was going to play today, the Orleans $300 Monster Stack, at the same time tomorrow.

Good decision. Get yourself fresh.

Maybe you do this anyway but it might be worth trying to find a way to review hands and your play in general and re-set your mindset and approach for the battles to come

Always worth doing some self analysis in a downswing. Even if you don’t find anything the process will be valuable

Pasta looks amazing. That's another place that's on my list to go that I haven't been yet. Soon! Good idea on the day off. it's hard to slow down out there, but it's necessary on longer trips.

Those bacon bits are made from pig cheeks. It's called guanciale - I think. I've had it there many times.

Whatever they were, they were REALLY good.

Slept good, made my way over to the Orleans for their $300 monster stack event.

And wouldn’t ya know it, seated at the same table as me is Mr baseball!

Guess this town just isn’t big enough for the both of us!

So this should be a fun day, as our table fills up.

LVL versus LVL carnage seems inevitable!

We need to have a fun side bet as to who will have more chips at the end of the day!

First break, on half a starting stack, at 15k.

No really big hands, just failing to connect with flops when I do play. I did pick up AA one time, barreled flop, shove turn, but he folded.

Mrbaseball plays very well, and tight. We haven’t really gotten involved, but there’s definitely lower hanging fruit at our table.

Only one knockout in the first four levels, so no runaway chip leaders yet.

I want to read the two different versions if they get into one HU!

based on bb’s recent update, don’t hold your breath for that happening today happening today

Well, if I were handicapping the TJ/MrB last longer odds, I would have made him the heavy favorite… as I was around half a starting stack for most of those four levels.

But MrBaseball lost a flip with AK vs JJ, and I went broke about an orbit later, open shoving less than 9 bb from the button with QJo, and losing to AK.

I jumped back in in level 8, were on break now.

Still feeling fresh, and patient.

Good luck with bullet #2!
